Our Great Escape - Morocco/Canada/Attic/Sago Cay TR *DisneyWeddingBlog Nomination*

Hi Karen,

I've been traveling a lot for my job and haven't been on here in awhile. Just stopped by to see the wedding pictures and especially TTD pictures. I can't seem to find either. I got caught up on your TR. Sounds like you had a wonderful time.

Congratulations!

Karen,

I forget from your pj did you buy or make a box for your wine ceremony? You have convinced me to add it to my ceremony and I cannot find a box for it.

Good luck with your dream job interview.

I need to go back and find your TTD pictures but I am sure they are as lovely as your wedding photos.

Where are the TTD pics???I can't find them :sad2:
GOOD LUCK ON YOUR INTERVIEW...PIXIE DUST YOUR WAY!!! :wizard:

Thanks ladies! I will re-post the pictures soon!

Karen,

I forget from your pj did you buy or make a box for your wine ceremony? You have convinced me to add it to my ceremony and I cannot find a box for it.

We bought our wine box from a winery near us, and than bought a wood burner from Michaels and I burnt our info in. I know that you can get them made on Etsy, but we figured this was a cheaper way to do it (the total cost was probably $20).

I cannot remember when you said you were having the interview… have you had it yet? Did it go well?

Can't wait to hear more about your big day!

Ohh Good Luck! I will be thinking about you tomorrow, sending some pixie dust your way!

Thank you! I guess everyones pixie dust is working, I just got another interview! It is in Ottawa, so a big move, but Ottawa and Niagara are my favourite parts of Ontario!

Wow congratulations! That is great to hear, it can be so stressful trying to find a job!

Karen I am so sad that I can't see the Sago Cay or TTD pics. :sad1: That's what I get for not reading the boards for a few days! :headache:

I wish you the BEST OF LUCK tomorrow at your interview. You're gonna rock it! And congrats to Keith on his internship! I hope things are finally starting to fall into place for you both, but am a little sad that you might not come down to the world in December. If it changes let me know and we can meet up for drinks. I'm gonna go check out David and Vicki's FB for more of your gorgeous TTD pics!

For tomorrow:
:tinker::tink::tinker::tink::tinker:

When are you going back to WDW?

Woo-hoo! :woohoo: :goodvibes

Well, we don't have anything set in stone yet, the hope is to go up for our anniversary weekend b/c we have a free room night to use. We'll most likely also go up for a weekend during food and wine b/c Disney's doing a dessert party every friday night during it this year to celebrate the fest's 15th anniversary and I want to go. ;)

If you do come down in December when would that be?

I would love to go during food and wine, but it definitely will not happen this year!

We want to go in the value season before Christmas, so probably between Nov28th and Dec 16th. We are hoping for the first week of December. As soon as I get a job, and I know if I can get the time off, it will be booked!

In other news, I just got another interview! It is closer to home, although I would still need to relocate, and it is permanent full time! So I have an interview tomorrow and an interview thursday, both for amazing jobs!

Oh, and I re-posted all my pics!

Day Five -Animal Kingdom , Ohana and La Nouba

We had to wake up super early to pack up our stuff to move resorts. We had called Bell Services to move our stuff from BCV to AKV, which was so easy to do, and a total lifesaver in terms of time.

As soon as we sent our stuff off, we ran out to catch the bus to AK! The bus was really late, so we missed rope drop (no biggie, we have seen if before) but it still wasn’t that busy when we got there. We ran to Dinoland first, where luckily, the lines were not too long yet.

After doing a few of the rides, I convinced DH to skip EE this tip (I hate it, it terrifies me) so we headed towards Africa for a snack and to grab FPs for Kilimanjaro safari. We really wanted fresh fruit, so when we found Harambe Fruit Market with fruit cups and jalapeno cheese pretzels, we stopped for a snack. We took our snacks to the seating area outside Tusker House where the “African Dance Show”, as I call it, takes place. After we finished eating, the cast members started performing, so DH and I went up close to watch. The main guy noticed our pins, and dragged us in to do a celebration dance for us. It was so much fun, and to see the look on DH’s face was priceless. The only line I remember from the song was “swaaahhh” and I cannot remember what it means. One of the dancers also offered to babysit the 10 kids he wants us to have as well!

After our celebration dance was over, DH and I went to walk the trail closest to Kilimanjaro, which was fun, but crowded with screaming children.

IMG_0428.jpg

As soon as we were done the walk, it was time to use our FPs for Kilimanjaro. Our guide was really fun, it and all the animals (except the lion) were easily visible. I won’t post many pictures, since I am sure you are all familiar with it.

After the ride, we walked back my Tusker House, and noticed a large bar was open. We decided since we were on vacation, we needed a drink. While, with only half a pretzel and half a fruit cup each in our stomach, the alcohol went straight to our head. We ended up going on a crazy mission to see how many pictures we could get from the photopass people. Here are some of my favs:

The last thing we did was go to “it’s tough to be a bug” which was good, except for the 100 screaming children. Seriously, at least 100 were screaming and crying.

We decided to head to AKV (Jambo) to see if our room was ready, and to get lunch there, since we didn’t like any options at AK. When we arrived, our room was ready right away, so we decided to go up and relax for a bit before finding food.

We had been in AKL before when we went to Boma, but we were in such a hurry to find it, and then in a hurry to leave, that we didn’t realize how great the resort was. When we walked into our room, I was in heaven. We had an amazing view, we were super close to the elevator, and well, it was just awesome!

IMG_0474.jpg

To top it all off, we had a message on the phone from DHs best man, saying that we got free tickets to HDDR since they messed up our ADR’s so much.

That night, we met up with all the remaining guests @ Ohana. I won’t get into the details of Ohana, since this is already a long post, and I know so many people on here love it…but we really didn’t like it. Our guests thought it was pretty good, but DH and I are picky when it comes to food quality, especially meat, and we didn’t think it was worth the price. We also had really awful service, which everyone was upset with.

That night, we went to La Nouba in DTD. It was nothing short of amazing! I wish DH and I would have gone alone as a date, instead of with some of our guests, but oh well. I would highly recommend La Nouba as a honeymoon activity. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen!

Up next….DHS, Hoop Dee Doo, and MK till 3 am!

Congrats on the 2nd job interview!! What fantastic news! Looks like the pixie dust from all the girls here is helping! Here's hoping it'll land you both jobs and you'll get to chose which one you want! :goodvibes

The pics are great! Sago Cay looked so pretty and intimate. I love the photo of you both at the top of the staircase at the Grand. There's just something magical about it.

Your TTD photos really make me wanna pull my dress out of its box and schedule a shoot. They are just so pretty and romantic. You look so happy and so in love. :lovestruc

The Dancers/drummers at AK crack me up! We love getting an African Margarita from that bar and watching them. I guess you and Keith better get busy on all those kids before he renigs (?sp) on the babysitting offer. :rotfl: How nice of them to get you HDDR tickets as an apology. I hope you enjoyed it. (I haven't been in YEARS!) Jim and I aren't uber crazy about Ohana's either. We prefer to get a small bite at the Tambu lounge rather than going there. But, that's us.

Can't wait to read more and you'll have to let me know how your interview goes and what time are they at so I can send good thoughts. :goodvibes

Glad you've put your photos back up they are brilliant. Sorry you didn't enjoy Ohana, it is one of ours favs, everyone likes different things though. La Nouba is great, we went on our first trip. Best of luck with the job interviews.

Hummm....disbride TTD? There may be enough of us there :lmao:

I actually have 3 interviews total! Once is in Ottawa though (which is far for me since I am near Toronto) and hasn't been scheduled yet.

If we can go back before Christmas, we want to do a split stay. We want to splurge on GF Club Level, and another deluxe resort, probably Contemporary or Poly!

Glad you've put your photos back up they are brilliant. Sorry you didn't enjoy Ohana, it is one of ours favs, everyone likes different things though. La Nouba is great, we went on our first trip. Best of luck with the job interviews.

Thanks! With Ohana, I think it was a combination of the noise (if you haven't noticed, I am not the most kid friendly person), as well as DH and I are picky about meat (it needs to be cooked well) and some of our guests were just not as pleasant to be around as they were the other days. I would probably try the breakfast, but not dinner again!

Day Six - DHS, HDDR and MK till 3 am!

We woke up early to get ready to be at DHS for rope drop. Unfortunately, what many reviews say about AKL transportation is true. We were ready to go an hour before rope drop, and we didn’t make it on time, since the bus was so late getting to AKL.

Neither of us really like DHS, so we knew we wouldn’t be there too long. It was also raining, which makes it worse. We immediately ran over to the Toy Story Mania to get FP, than DH, begged me to ride Tower of Terror. On our last vacation, I refused to ride this, as well as rockin roller coaster and space mountain (which I finally did) but I gave in since he really wanted to go on it. I was pretty nervous, but I figured the thing just dropped once and then it was over (and so did DH), so imagine our surprise when we were flug up and redropped multiple times. I was not impressed.

We didn’t spend much more time there, except to go on a few more rides and get lunch. This is the only pic I have:

Image0037.jpg

It was only about 1:00 pm, and I didn’t want to go back to the resort, so we decided to go shopping in DTD. We had gotten some gift cards and money from people at Sago Cay, so it was time to spend it! We ended up getting quite a lot of awesome wedding stuff (which is posted near the beginning of my TR).

It was still raining really hard, so we ended our shopping quickly, and went back to ACV to rest up for Hoop Dee Doo.

We had our friends meet us at our resort (since they were in Pop) since we really wanted them to see how amazing it was. Sure enough, they were completely blown away. We hung out in the lobby and around our room for a bit, than called a cab to Ft.Wilderness (we refused to take 2 busses in the rain).

Hoop Dee Doo ended up being so much fun. The food, in my opinion anyway, is not good, edible, but really not that good. The entertainment was amazing though. Our waiter kept my wine glass full, and the picture of beer for the others full at all times, so needless to say, that made all the entertainment that much better.

DH got really into playing the washboard. You can tell by the pic that this was after many beers were consumed. At some point during the show, DH and I had to get up and slow dance since we were just married. The funny part is, it ended up being our first married dance! I must have forgot to upload the picture of this, but it isn’t very good anyway.

When the show ended, we boarded the ferry to MK. Our boat driver was hilarious (again, the fact that we were filled with alcohol made it better). He kept cracking jokes about WDW, my favourite was “if you look to your right, you will see a giant toaster” (the Contemporary resort).

MK was completely dead. It was raining all day (although it stopped by this point) which probably scared people away, plus it was almost midnight. There were so many times while we were in the park that we couldn’t even see anyone else there. We felt like we had the place to ourselves. Our friends hadn’t been to MK yet, so we hit all the big rides first, and then at DH’s best mans request, we went on Small World (which we all regretted).
After that, we suddenly started noticing that there were characters everywhere, and board looking photographers, so we spent the next hour skipping around the park getting as many photos as possible.

Soon enough, it was approaching 3 am, so it was time to go back to our resorts. We said goodbye to our friends (our last remaining wedding guests) as we would not see them again until we were home. It was such a fun night, and DH and I were still on a high from having MK to ourselves, until we got back to AKV, and almost immediately passed out!

Up next, hanging out @ Kidani, and Wanyama Safari (aka the best decision I made)!

Hi Karen,

I'm so glad you posted your pictures again. I'm enjoying the TR and all the photos. My favorites are your AK Bridal Portrait and your TTD pictures. All of your pictures are very nice. Sago Cay looks like a wonderful location for a reception party or dessert party. I like the way you had it decorated with the checkered table clothes.

I'm interested in doing the DisBride TTD! I'll get a dress online just for the occasion. :cool1:

I'm loving your TR, you look like you had so much fun. If I get half the photos that you got with your guests then I'll be happy, I think that's one of the main things I want to do.

Thankyou for reposting your pics!! I missed them the first time round, so I'm glad to be able to see them :goodvibes

Good luck with getting your job!
