March 15.
Bad news: Awoke to a cloudy day. Good news: It was almost warm and getting warmer. (I think it got into the low 70s that day.) We ate the continental b'fast at the motel and headed to the RPR to check-in. No lines at check-in. Can't remember who checked us in, but she was very friendly. She told the girls about the rides she liked/disliked at Universal. I asked for a Loews upgrade, but none available. She did say she was moving us to Tower 1, pool view. Is that considered an upgrade? I filled out my Loews sheet for the newspaper/welcome gift, she issued our magic room keys, and we were on our way. DH said he had no problem parking close to the resort. We headed to IOA first (walked the path from RPR-beautiful!!), since I had read that US might be better if it rained. We arrived about 9:15, got our "buy 4 get one free" tickets from the kiosk with no problem and went through the gates with no line. DH and DD 13 headed to Hulk first, and DD9 and I went to Spiderman. (DD 9 still not sure about Hulk.) They rode Hulk twice while we rode Spiderman twice. Spiderman was awesome--it was DD9's favorite of the trip. She rode it about 5 times that day. Both rides were walk-ons with FOTL passes. DD's rode Storm Force (?) a couple of times, then we moved back around park. Rode Dr. Doom twice (OK ride). Can't really remember in what order we did the rest, but I think we saw/rode most everything. DH and DD13 rode Dueling Dragons, while DD9 and I rode the Flying Unicorn (a bunch of times). DH said the wait for Dragons, even with FOTL, was about 35 minutes. I'm not sure what was going on there. They liked Hulk better. Stopped for burgers at Burger Digs, and enjoyed lunch. Went back and I rode Hulk with daughter 3 times in a row. That about did it for me and the rides that day. I did take a Bonine (?) at the beginning of the day that seemed to help with the motion sickness. We went back by Seuss Landing and got some pictures. DD 9 did the rock climbing deal (extra $5 I think) and enjoyed it. DD9 really wanted to ride some of the water rides, which I had put off until close to the end of the day. Ripsaw Falls was still closed, so she and DH rode the Jurassic Park River Adventure a couple of times. They must have been in pretty good spots, because they didn't get all that wet either time. We opted out of the other water ride. It sprinkled on us off and on during the afternoon, but DH and I decided that all in all, the weather was great. By about 4:00 we were dragging so we went and checked on our room. It was ready. The room was nice and clean, and about the size we expected. The pool view was a little obscured by palm trees, but it was nice. I warned the girls not to "drink the water!" (Evian water!) The milk and cookies welcome gift came while we were resting. The girls were SO impressed! We cleaned up and headed to Pastamore for dinner. We took the ferry over to Citywalk. I used my Clear Channel GC and had no problem. Waiter was very enjoyable. Food was decent. There also was a very entertaining violinist who walked around taking requests. The girls thought that was neat. More bad news: It was now pouring outside. We thought about running through Pat O's, but it was about 9:30 and too late for us to go in with the girls. We headed back to the RPR (had to walk in the rain because the ferrys weren't running due to the lightning in the area.) We dried off, DH got on the computer for awhile, DD13 chatted on cell with friends she was missing (and reminded us of this often) and DD9 and I hit the hay. On to Day 2-US.
Notes: Dining GC's were a good thing. We'll get more next time. FOTL passes worth every penny. Even DH who wasn't that wild about Disney loved IOA with the passes. Said that's the way you do parks. Please excuse typing/spelling--I'm trying to do quickly while I have a minute. Will try my hand at posting a few pictures when I get a chance.
