Our girlie summer Vegas get-away (over and done with)

I know what you mean, we are supposed to be saving money, too.:rolleyes1

But we usually do a big family vacation each year (in 2009 we did the Alaska cruise out of Vancouver:thumbsup2) and in 2010 other than WDW in Oct (which won't be too bad because we own DVC and have parkhoppers), we aren't going anywhere. So, DH says for me to go for it, too!

I'm sure we'll have some talks during the DL Diva trip. I hope you come!

Did you get to spent much time in Vancouver? We live about 1 1/2 away.

I'm thinking the Mirage. ::yes::
I just checked the i4vegas website and came up with this:
Room Rate 06/03 - 06/04: $119.00
Room Rate 06/04 - 06/05: $151.00
Room Rate 06/05 - 06/06: $175.00
Room Rate 06/06 - 06/07: $111.00

Is this better or worse than what you found?

My Dh says to go for it!
 :thumbsup2

I call Beth's house...I have kids, I can sleep through yelling & screaming & kids running amuk! :thumbsup2
:thumbsup2 The maid service here is lousy though. :rolleyes1

Stacie, I just reread parts of your TR from our last Vegas trip. Soooo much fun. I miss it. I especially liked the Tony and Tina pics. That night was a blast. :cool1:

Beth - those are pretty much the same rates they have on their website. They have a package deal that includes airfare that is really good - It's like $450 each and includes an upgraded view room and some other perks, but we are driving. The room only option is not that great. Cheryl & I are going to pow-wow next weekend at DL while working on the Scavy Hunt and make a decision on where we want to stay. At least that is the plan. It sounds like the rest of the group is favoring Harrah's. On another note, I hope your baby girl feels better real soon. Sick kids are so hard for moms:angel:

Angie - yes, we stayed overnight in Vancouver at the Sheraton Wall. We took a bus tour that took us to all the tourist areas. Stanley Park was a highlight. They were really gearing up for the Olympics and everywhere we went they were pushing souvies. That was dumb. I mean who wants to buy Olympics stuff when we weren't there for the Olympics? Anyway, we really enjoyed our time there.

Stanley Park is beautiful and it's also where my husband proposed:lovestruc
I understand about the Olympic stuff. It's nice to have them here but it's not making it easy for locals. We went to a concert the other night and pay parking had gone up to $30.

I am game to stay pretty much anywhere. I would like to stay where the majority is staying. I will probally be coming in on Thursday and leaving Sunday. I am game to room with anyone. Angie let me know what and where you want to stay if you want to room together.

I'm really not picky at all, it's just a place to sleep. So far I've stayed at TI, Flamingo and Tropicana so I'm game for anything.

I am going to need a roomie or roomies...................

Wooohooo...count me in!

LOL Patty!

What do you do?
I work in Human Resources. I really like my job. There's always some kind of drama and confidential crap goin' on but I live for that stuff.;) It's fun most of the time. But I love my vacations. I am the vacation queen. Although Cheryl is giving me a run for my money this past year.

I want to work the front door at our plus size strip club. I will wear a sexy outfit with my ginormous girls peeking out and smile sweetly while leading the patrons to a seat and asking them what they want to drink. How many dancers do we have lined up?

I'm thinking the Mirage. ::yes::

The Mirage sounds good to me.

I work for a GYN/OB office and assist with the patients and their exams. I told my husband he has nothing to worry about, my preference will never change. I have seen many interesting tattoos and piercings too.

Yikes!

:lmao:

Same here!!

You're a roomie too!

I re read it every so often for some laughs.

I am honestly fine staying where ever. Would like to all stay at the same place if possible. I know Linda and Cheryl are rooming together and leaning to the MIrage. And we all know I am fine with having a lot of roomies. So staying there with a couple of us won't be that pricey per person. It doesn't matter to me.

Do we have ideas now of what we will be doing?

Oh, and Nikki (sis) might join us too. She is still in Afghanistan so I will have to wait till she gets back to see for sure.

I just got an e-mail offer for MGM and for our dates, if you book by Feb 1, the prices are:

6/3 $69.00
6/4 $132.00
6/5 $139.00
6/6 $62.00

which is cheaper than both Harrah's and the Mirage for those dates......

MGM is nice. I really like it there. Are you thinking of booking that?

I got the same email, Theresa. It also includes a $25 spa credit and a $25 entertainment credit. It is VERY tempting. The rates are so reasonable. It works out to about $50 per day if you share a room. Hummmmm.:scratchin

Oh, wanted to say that I hope your sis can join us, Stacie. When does she get home? Where is the MGM in contrast to Harrah's? I really hope we can all be at the same place, too.:)

Here is a Strip map Linda so you can get a better idea. http://www.vegas.com/lounge/map.html

I like the location of Harrahs better, but I like the MGM hotel better. They both have their pros and cons. Something tells me we won't all agree on a hotel. Mirage is much closer to Harrahs than MGM is, but that is a good deal. :confused3

It does look like a good offer.

I doubt we will all agree on one hotel. I do like the location of Harrah's/Mirage, but the MGM deal works out quite a bit cheaper...... Dang, I'm confuzzled :sad2:

Well, unconfuzzle yourself. Let's see if we can sort this out and get things going here.....

I think Wendy will for sure be at Harrahs with Marcie. She's got a special deal or freebie or something, so I imagine she's definitely going take advantage of that. Might as well, and then save money for other things.

And I know if Deb comes she will most likely be in the room with them, right Deb?

Also Theresa, you had talked about booking your own room at Harrahs just in case. You said you were thinking you might need it to get work done as that's a busy time for you. Did you ever do that??
If so, that puts you, Wendy, Marcie and Deb all at Harrahs.

Cheryl won't stay at Harrahs, which is fine. She and Linda are rooming together and have both expressed interest in Mirage. That would actually work out fine. If they can find a good deal there, it's right across the street and would still be convenient for walking back and forth. Some things we want to do are at or near Mirage, and some are at or near Harrahs. So either way it's fine.

That leaves Stacielee and her friend Doreen, who aren't sure if they are coming.

Stacerita and Nikki.

Angie and Patty. Are you two rooming together after all? Which place are you leaning towards?

And I think that's it.

Steph, if you read this, are you coming? I hope so!! Stacerita was looking for many roomies so maybe you can get in with her and Nikki.

Anyway, I think if we could keep it limited to Harrahs and Mirage it would work out nicely. They are both mid Strip, and both close to each other, relatively speaking. And deals will continue to pop up for them between now and then. Just my opinion. :teeth:

All righty then, Harrah's it is :thumbsup2 Looking at the map, it does seem like a good location and easy to get around for those of us without vehicles ;)

Linda and I were talking about the fine dining dinner and we both liked Kokomo's, which is at the Mirage. They sound yummy and have a very reasonable Prix Fixe tasting menu HERE

I think I will book a room because most likely I will come down on the Wednesday and I really do need to have the opportunity to get some work done (luckily I usually get up WAY before anyone else ;))

Woo hoo!! (that was a practice one so I don't get too rusty before June!!)
