I will likely update this post as things come back to me, but thought I would share our experience.
Many months back we began planning our trip, which consisted of getting vacation approval from work, booking our DVC room, and getting some ADRs out of the way and booked. I then started watching for airfares with my budget in mind. Since there are 3 of us, I don't like to spend more than 180 per ticket, which has been doable for several years. We already had our park hopper passes (purchased a long time ago as 10-day no-expiry hopper passes). So basically I had to find a way there and get packed and do a bit more planning.
In the meantime, I took my last few classes in grad school, took my comprehensives (in lieu of a thesis),
graduated from my Graduate program
and headed up the Book Fair at my son's school
.
I had occasional time to peruse the Boards
and decided at the last minute to check into jumping in on an open two seats for an Illuminations cruise (will insert link here later). It was open so we added that to our itinerary I had previously completed many months before.
We decided to act like we were driving and be prepared to do so. I looked for good prices up until a few days before and then faced the reality
that we were going to drive 1000 miles to Disney World 2 days after returning from a cross-state (Texas) trip to the Dallas area for my graduation. So, the weekend of December 13th, we returned from Dallas, and then began packing for Disney World to depart after school/work on Monday December 15th to arrive on the 16th. More to come...
