This trip was almost postponed due to DH being ill and DH's father in hospital -
I'm so glad we went! DH was fine and his father is doing well also!
4/28 - Arrived at LAX at 2:30pm easily got the shuttle to National Car rental (great price $124 for a full size car for 5 days - AARP) Got to DLH at approximately 4:00pm. Picked up DD's prize package info - tickets, etc. (DD won grand prize inDisney Shopping.com Instant Win Spooktacular Sweeps) Checked into a corner room on 3rd floor of Bonita Tower - great balcony to sit out on plus the regular doors with railing. Loved the room and the hotel!!! DH was sick with an upper respiratory infection (almost postponed trip) so we ate in room after a quick trip to Food4Less(a great store) and hit the sack early.
4/29 - Headed for the monorail to DL. My DS (he is developmentally handicapped and has mild CP) loves riverboats. THANKS TO YOU WONDERFUL PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD - we went right to the Mark Twain and asked and Chris (with me, DH & DD) got to ride with the captain and pretend to steer the boat!!!!! He got his honorary pilot's certificate, too. This was the highlight of our trip - he was so happy!!!!! We would have never known about this possibility if it wasn't for the people on this site! We then went to the Haunted Mansion, tried Indiana Jones - it was down, then the Jungle Cruise (another of Chris's faves). We went to Toon Town and had our pics taken with Mickey and Minnie. I had my pic taken with my avatar!!! The only ride we used FastPass for was Big Thunder Mountain railroad. We had a great day!
4/30 - Headed back to DL and got on everything we couldn't the day before!
5/1 - As part of DD's sweeps win we were met in the lobby of the DL by a promotions person who walked us over to DCA for before the park opened private tour of the Hollywood Tower of Terror!
This is one of our favorite rides anyway (Chris waited with the promotions person while the 3 of us rode in our private elevator). Spent the rest of the day at DCA - loved Soaring over CA. Didn't need FastPass at all that day.
5/2 - Checked out of DLH(very sad) and into the Anaheim Islander Inn for 1 extra night and drove up to LA and Hollywood for our DD. She loved Hollywood!!! NOTE: The Anaheim Islander Inn was a good, clean and very cheap place to stay. The manager was so nice when we checked in he offered us the choice of 3 different rooms - a standard(which is the one I booked for $72.44 total with tax)2 queen beds and a sofa bed or 2 queens with a bunk bed(lower bunk double bed-top single bed) or a suite with 2 queens in each room. My son loved the bunk beds, so we opted for that one. The motel was very quiet. I would probably stay there again. They provided pastries, coffee, juice and fruit for breakfast.
I know this is not a very in depth report but I just had to thank everyone for the tip about the Mark Twain!!! If anyone has any questions about anything, please feel free to PM me.
