Our first trip and our honeymoon at Disney World, what could go wrong?

Loving your take on DHS--you are such a hoot! Never been able to make myself go on TOT, don't plan on it in the future, and after reading your experience, sounds like a healthy decision to me.

You won't catch me on the TOT at either park.

On the bright side it leaves me with more time to people watch, shop and snack.

Thanks!

I used to love rides like TOT but I guess with age my feelings about certain rides have changed. Doesn't help matters much that I don't like heights either.

I know, just last week we were at Disney's California Adventure with some friends and they all wanted to go on TOT so I offered to watch the kid for them while they rode. I was perfectly happy running after him and people watching.

Okay so I last left off with us heading towards RNRC. I was excited for this ride and nervous at the same time, only because I new it was inside and kinda dark. I love rollar coasters but I'm used to them being outside, especially if they have loops and stuff. So we headed in that direction and took some photos of course.

http://

http://

We stopped and had a photopass picture taken also.

http://

I think the wait time for the ride was about 45min. or so but it seemed to move pretty quick to me. I thought the line was really cool, I loved how it was decorated throughout. Unfortunatly we didn't get any photos while standing in line. I know my feet had started to hurt pretty bad at this point and I really was just focusing on trying not to keel over.

As we got closer to the front of the line and we could see the ride taking off I got more nervous.

Before I knew it our turn was next. We ended up sitting towards the rear of the ride which was fine with me.

As soon as we were settled in the car and sent off I relaxed alot, I'm weird like that. Also I love that the ride shoots you off at the start. I'm a sucker for rollar coasters that do that, I think it's more fun that way.

So anyway the light's approaching green and we are off. My first thought was crap this is fast. Then I realized how jerky it was and my head kept getting smashed on both sides, this was made worse because I had earrings on.

In a nutshell I have to say I loved the ride but I was paying more attention to all the signs trying to read them that I really didn't notice to much of the actual coaster itself. I felt the loops and the corkscrews but they didn't do anything for me really. The take off was superb and was probably the highlight for me. Hubby loved the whole thing and really wanted to go on it again but didn't want to wait in line another 45min. I think next time we go on it I will NOT be wearing earrings to try to save my head, really that was the only thing I didn't like about it.

So with that done it was now time to decide if we wanted to sit and watch Fantasmic or not. I'm not a huge, huge fan of this show, I have seen it about a million times at Disneyland mostly because my best friend loves the show so she makes me sit through it all the time. She made me promise when we left for Orlando that I would go see Fantasmic and record it for her so that she could see the difference between them. With that promise hanging over my head and hubby reminding me that I did promise her I reluctently let myself be led into that enormous stadium.

The walk into the stadium alone was crazy just because of how long it is, so when we actually reached the inside I was in awe of the size and how many people could fit inside there. We quickly made our way to some seats on the left side of the stadium fairly close to the front. I didn't really care about our seats anyway. Of course had I been aware of the sheer mayhem and craziness that ensues when the show is over I would have found seats as close to the exit as humanly possible.

I took this picture just because I was in shock at the size of the place.

http://

And that wasn't even half of it, it was just all I could fit in the shot. :rotfl2:

So anyway the show starts and hubby is recording it for my friend and my first thought is okay, it's starting the same way ours does. As it goes on though we both quickly realize it's a very different show from ours. I can't even begin to tell you how many times during the show hubby and I both looked at each other like, "what the hell". Now I know that tons of you on the Dis love this show and that's cool, but for hubby and I we didn't care for it. Not that it was bad or anything, but it just didn't do anything for us, at least in comparison to our Fantasmic at home. And what I mean by that is when we watch it here it actually will bring tears to our eyes but there we just kinda watched and had the Okay look on our faces most of the time. I will admit that some of the show was awesome and those parts we really enjoyed but overall I don't think we will sit through it again. And leaving the stadium after the show was enough to make a man go insane. They should have more exits available for people. It took us 30min just to get out of there and that was with us waiting for most of the crowd to leave first.

And my friend by the way, didn't like the way the show looked either, and for her to say that is unheard of because she is a super disney freak.

Anyway I hope I didn't offend anyone by saying that we didn't really like the show and I'm sorry if I did.

Well after finally getting free from there we decided to hit a couple of shops on our way out of the park. I didn't take pictures of the stuff we bought but I ended up purchasing a few things. While we had been in the store it started to rain pretty hard so people of course started freaking out and scattering for there lives. The stores ended up getting to cramped for me so hubby and I just decided to leave. I so wish we had gotten somebody to take our picture because as we approached the exit we were seriously the only two people walking, everyone else was hiding from the rain and it just looked so funny. It was super hot and muggy so the rain felt good to us, we just strolled out of the park hand in hand and almost drenched.

We made our way to the tram and back out to the car in no time since everyone was still waiting for the rain to let up. By the time we got into the car the rain had stopped. We made it back to the hotel and I think we stopped for food someplace but I don't remember what it was. Needless to say it was another fun day and we went to bed at around midnight. I remember the time because I was yelling that we were not going to wake up early the next day to go to Islands of Adventure. Yes ladies and gentlemen, we finally get back to Universal to do the other park.

Well it's been another long time since I have posted. I am determined to finish this TR very soon though. I hope I still have some readers out there.

Anyway I last left off with DHS and our mostly fantastic day at that park. Today would now be Nov. 15th and we are heading back to Universal to go to Islands of Adventure. I was extremely excited to get to this park, I had read all about it and it sounded like so much fun.

I don't remember exactly when we woke up this day but I do know we got into the park at around 10:30 or so. I refused to stop for breakfast because I wanted to get there so badly. It was a very overcast day but still pretty warm and humid out. Little did we know the weather was going to change alot.

Here are a couple of shots as we made our way to the entrance of the park.

http://

http://

So we get into the park with no problem and are soon on our way. Already I was loving it.

I thought this little overhang was cute because it says The adventure begins.

http://

It seems like it's super crowded in that picture but it was not bad at all. The longest wait was like 35min. No big deal.

One of my first stops was in a store filled with Grinch stuff. I just love him and I wanted to take everything home with me.

http://

AJ started taking like a gazillion pictures of the main entry area and I was like hurry up already. It's a cute area but I was very anxious to get my butt on the Hulk coaster. Here is my "I'm half smiling for this picture but I'm gonna kill you if you don't hurry up now look".

http://

A short walk later and a quick turn to the left and finally we are at my destination.

http://

Doesn't it look like fun?

http://

Here are some random photos while we waited in line.

http://

http://

http://

http://

As we are getting closer to the ride I start getting antsy. I do this when I'm going on a ride I have never been on before. So as I'm doing what AJ calls my ride pee pee dance I'm trying to calm my nerves. I don't know why it happens to me really because I love rollar coasters and once I get on the ride, I'm instantly fine.

Finally, finally it's our turn and we are loaded on. I didn't get any pictures at that moment because they have that "YOU MUST NOT CARRY ANYTHING WITH YOU ON THE ROLLAR COASTERS LAW AT THIS PARK" so we had to hide the camera.

Anyway the ride is fabulous. I had the best time. You start off going up the inside track like any normal coaster but then halfway up it shoots you out, really fast and you go into the first twist. It's awesome! The take off is by far the best part. The whole ride is really good and that loop is pretty large because it felt like it took forever to come out of it. LOL

We did end up purchasing our ride photo. That again is the one thing I love about going to Universal parks, with hubby's discount I can shop till I drop and not spend a small fortune.

http://

Oh and the two people sitting with us on The Hulk, we had a running theme with them this day. I don't know how or why but we ended up sitting with them on several rides throughout the day. It was super weird and never once did any of us say anything to each other but we would look at each other with the strangest expressions when we kept running into each other. It was really, really funny.

Universal Studio park is an awesome park. Not quite as "magical" as Disney but just as exciting. The Hulk rollercoaster is the best ride at Island of the Adventure, IMO. When I was there in 2006, because we stayed at the resort inside the complex, we used the hotel guest line instead of the normal line. So I didn't get to see what the waiting queue look like you did.

This is what you look like when they 'shoot' you out of the tunnel. ;)

Cool pictures topdog! I'm glad your still reading my TR, I think your the only one. LOL

So continuing on we left the Hulk coaster and headed over to the next closest ride which was this.

http://

http://

Pretty much they are just like the teacups except they spin easier and faster, making it much more fun. I was loving the theming also since it was Storm from X-Men and I am a big X-Men fan. My cat is after all named Storm! :)

They had cool comic strips around the ride to read also.

http://

http://

The ride was fun I really enjoyed it but again I like spinny rides. I tried to get some pics while on it but they came out really blurry so I won't bother sharing.

After that we just kinda walked around for a bit in the Marvel area taking it all in. I think it's decorated really well and I guess anybody who likes comic books would really like it. Other people might just say it's stupid and boring.

I thought this pic came out cool, it's looks like Wolverine is attacking us.

http://

I will say that the only thing that sucked was the characters, or at least most of them. This is seriously the worst Storm and Rogue I have ever seen in my life. People that go to Comic Con do a much better job at dressing up and posing for pics then they do. LOL

http://

I'm surprised I was able to get the shot because I couldn't stop laughing at them. Hubby made me laugh more because he did a better pose than they did.

As we walked away from them I shot this picture of there cyclops and still have no comment.

http://

This ride would have been next in our walk if it wern't for the fact that I'm so scared of heights. I offered to wait for AJ while he went but he passed on it as well.

http://

So then we came across hubby's favorite. SPIDERMAN!

Before going on the ride we had to have him get a picture with spidy.

http://

http://

I really wanted to get the professional ones they took because they came out so cute but for some reason we ended up leaving without them. I think we just kinda started walking around the store and forgot about them, I'm still bummed about it. I guess I will have to get them on the next trip. :thumbsup2

Then it was off to ride the Amazing Adventures of Spiderman.

http://

I was a bit nervous about this ride because I had heard there is a part in it where you feel like your falling from a skyscrapper and that didn't sound very appealing to me.

Here are some random pictures from the line. It was set up pretty cute.

http://

http://

http://

http://

They had this little model of the ride vehicles you get in.

http://

http://

So I don't know how to explain the ride really. It's a 3D ride so you do wear glasses and the vehicles are on a track also so you are going through different sets as well. It's done really, really great and you totally feel like your in the action. We ended up sitting in the second row which I was silently thankful for, I so didn't want the front being my first time on the ride and all. There are alot of surprises and it is enough to make a person sick who has horrible motion sickness. A few times I had to look down to regain my composer, and I will say that anybody who is afraid of heights will not like the skyscraper part. We didn't know when that part was so we kinda had to estimate when it would happen, and well I didn't look away fast enough and I got so dizzy it was crazy. If I hadn't looked away when I did I'm positive I would have thrown up. Other than that part I thought the ride was truely awesome and now that I know when to look away I will go on it again.

After the ride we backtracked to the front of the park again so that we could cut across to Seuss's Landing. I was beyond excited to go into this land, I love Dr. Seuss.

This is what I was seeing as we got closer to the land.

Soooooo cute, I was already acting like a little kid and we hadn't even done anything yet.

i'm still reading. cool update we never seem to make it out of disney but my 6year old ds is begging for universal ioa so we shall see.

I've just spent 1.5 work days reading through your whole TR! It's amazing!

I've never really felt the magic of a WDW cruise before. I've read plenty of TR with cruises but yours had me asking DH to go on a cruise for our anny next year! Your pics are great and you really captured the most of your vacation!

I LOVE US/IOA. We took a year off WDW and went to the UOR last year. It was amazing! Spiderman, Hulk and Mummy are my favorite rides ever!

I'm still here too!

Haven't been to universal yet. Waiting until the kids actually want to ride costers. I'm beginning to think that with my kids that might mean we never go but I'm working on the youngest one. He just might end up liking them.

Once again, I missed all the funky setup at the waiting queue in the 3D Spiderman ride because I didn't use the normal waiting queue. I actually like that ride a lot.

You didn't miss much with the Doctor Doom ride. That was a major let down. It was no where near as fun as TOT, IMO. I know, you don't like height.

Dr. Seuss land was a strange one for me since I know nothing about it but I still had a fun time.

So sorry for being MIA again with this TR. I have been having issues with my MIL and seriously have been wanting to kill her. Things have calmed down a bit now but only because I'm refusing to talk to her and just ignore her when I see her. :sad2:

Hubby also had some minor drama at work that we had to deal with, and that is finally all sorted out.

Then these fires have broken out all over Cali and they are really freakin scary so I have been watching alot of TV and keeping an eye on them. We don't live in the path of any of them but I know several people who do, so I have been very worried about them. The air is soooooo bad that I can't even go outside without having an asthma attack, so it's really misarable here right now. Praying for a miracle to get those fires under control.

Also we are going to Seattle/Canada in a few weeks to visit family and site see so we have been getting ready for that as well. All around we have been pretty busy and tied up with issues. Now things have fairly calmed down except for the fires so I can continue on with this TR.

i'm still reading. cool update we never seem to make it out of disney but my 6year old ds is begging for universal ioa so we shall see.

Thanks. I think it's either a you love it right away or you don't thing with the Universal parks, thankfully we loved them. :goodvibes

Hello! Thanks so much for the nice compliments. :goodvibes

The cruise is truely amazing, I'm sure you will love it and even more if you will be celebrating your anniversary while on it.

I personally can't wait to get back to US and IOA, we had so much fun at those parks and I still feel like we missed so much.

I'm still here too!

Haven't been to universal yet. Waiting until the kids actually want to ride costers. I'm beginning to think that with my kids that might mean we never go but I'm working on the youngest one. He just might end up liking them.

Hi! Thanks for still reading.

Good luck with the kiddos on getting them to like rollar coasters. I know I didn't like them for a long time, were talking like pre teen years before I would even go on the littlest of coasters. :rotfl:

Once again, I missed all the funky setup at the waiting queue in the 3D Spiderman ride because I didn't use the normal waiting queue. I actually like that ride a lot.

Dr. Seuss land was a strange one for me since I know nothing about it but I still had a fun time.

I think the queue lines are cool to go through at least once so that you can see them, now that I have I would much rather have that front of the line pass. :thumbsup2 We actually thought about getting it the day of but the lines were nonexistant so we had no worries.

I liked spiderman alot also but I really got sick with the skyscrapper part. It's okay though because now I know when to look away. :thumbsup2

It didn't look like we would have missed much with Dr. Doom, I think that's why hubby passed on it. He isn't scared of heights but he thinks rides like that are a waste of time, except for TOT.

I love, love, loved Suess's Landing, but more on that coming up soon.

Okay so first on my list was to get to The Cat In The Hat Ride.

http://

I think the ride is really fun but it does spin you around a lot while your on it. There is so much to see while your going through but you can't really do it with the spinning. You have to go on it a few times to really see everything. Overall we liked it though.

From there we headed over to this ride.

For some strange reason I don't have any good pictures of the actual ride itself. It's pretty much just like Dumbo but you fly around in Fishies and you get drenched from water shooting fish on the sides. When I say drenched you really do get drenched.

http://

http://

It's really a fun ride, especially on a hot and humid day. I can't say we got drenched personally because hubby kept flying us away from the water. :sad2: We did get caught a couple of times though and we got a good spray or two but some of the people getting off the ride were soaked.

These are just a random photos as we walked around.

http://

http://

And we went on this.

http://

http://

Then we ran into my favorite guy ever. THE GRINCH! I was so excited to see him.

http://

Then as we were about to walk away the cat in the hat came out for photos so we really quickly snapped one with him also.

http://

Coming up next, we take a ride High in the Sky.

So as we walked away from our character meetings and started to head towards the High in the sky Dr. Suess trolley ride we literely ran into these guys.

http://

They are so much fun and they really have a good time joking around with everyone.

Finally we have made it to the little trolley ride.

http://

So it was about this time while standing there waiting for our turn that I realized I was in an enormous amount of pain and it was coming from my right foot. Now my feet had been hurting for the past few days from all the excessive walking we had been doing, after all it has been almost two full weeks already of Disney and Universal fun. I tried to ignore it but the pain was super sharp and radiating all the way up my leg. For the sake of just looking I decided to check my ankle. I should not have looked. My ankle at that point was literely the size of a golf ball. I had never seen anything like it. Never ever in all my years on the planet have my ankles ever swelled up from walking. Since there wasn't much I could do I decided to just push through the pain and deal with it, I wasn't of course going to leave the park.

Some more photos while we waited.

http://

http://

Finally it's our turn.

http://

Okay so the next pictures are just random photos from the ride and the view you get.

http://

http://

http://

http://

So the trolley ride is really cute, I recommend going on it at least once. Don't stand in line for it though, totally not worth that because it's so short, but if there is no line go for it.

That ended our adventures in Suess's Landing so we headed out towards our next destination but not before taking a picture of this sign.

http://

Oh how awful about your ankle. I bet those motorized scooters were looking really good to you about now.
