Great trip report and just in time. We booked a trip yesterday and I'm full of questions. We've done Hawaii before, but this is all new.

Can you tell me do you pay resort fees even when using your DVC points and what are they? Someone just told me they thought so but couldn't find that information anywhere. Thanks

Hi there! The fee is for everyone. It isn't a Disney thing as much as a Hawaii thing, we have had to pay similar resort fees when staying at other resorts. I want to say the fee was approx $12 a day because we paid about $60 for a 5 night stay. Hope this helps! Thanks!

That is reasonable. Thank you, just asking since that isn't the case at WDW and I wanted to be prepared thinking it was alot, but it isn't.

Hi, you mentioned there was a DVC member breakfast, can you tell me more about it? Do you have to reserve it, a certain day of the week? Thanks!

The DVC breakfast was on Monday. I'm pretty sure it was around 9am with the check in time being 15 minutes prior. We simply had to stop by the main DVC desk (right down the hall from the front desk) and give out names and room number to RSVP.

We received "Member since ____" buttons upon checking in and were told to grab seats at large round 8 top tables. There were fresh leis on the table too (exactly the same as the check-in ones).

The breakfast offerings included coffee, tea and juices wtih assorted pastries like croissants, scones, muffins.

The event itself was a typical feel good thanks for being members DVC time with that soft underlying "think about buying more points" pitch. We saw a video reel, some people around the room told stories and there was some trivia (I won a Stitch pin!). Then there was a large group guess the Disney song/dance challenge. Where everyone ended up "winning" a DVC baseball cap. Upon wrap up cast members were around for anyone who had questions.

It was a nice little start to the day. I wouldn't plan my schedule around it or anything but if you happen to be around on that Monday morning you might as well stop by for some freebies. :)

Since we will be DVC day guests I don't think we will be eligible for this. Thank you for the info.

We just finished our Aulani trip and agree with just about everything you said! The Olelo Room was awesome, by the way, great music and best food we had at the resort. We didn’t make it to Ama Ama either. We went to Makahiki for the non-menehune dinner which was fine but expensive. We tried to get the breakfast on our last day but had no luck. We also did the VIP luau and agree with your thoughts on the photo, drinks and quality of the show. We, however, thought the food wasn’t good at all and went in with low expectations.

We also have discussed going to Maui for a few days in the future then flying over to Oahu for a few days at Aulani. We ended up adding a small Aulani contract so will hopefully be going back next spring! Think we are gonna painr 4 days at Aulani with 2 nights at Waikiki this trip, though, with Maui in the future.

We will def need to check out the Olelo room next time, glad to know our assumptions of it being nicer are confirmed.

Oh no about the Luau food! So weird we had such different experiences. On both of our next trips we will have to try Ama Ama!

Excited and jealous you are already planning your next trip back, enjoy! ;)
