Our First Split Stay - Tipping Baggage Service???

We'll be transfering from AllStar to Dolphin in Jan. and I have a question or two. Do we take our luggage out of the room to some point to be transferred or are they picked up at the room, and who, when and how is it appropriate to tip?

I always tip the bellmen at both resorts when I switch mid stay. I've always had a bellman pick up my bags when I've transferred, but I'm not sure how it works at the All Stars.

Just call luggage services when you are ready to leave the all stars. A bellman will come to your room and give you a claim ticket for all of the bags you want transferred. We also tipped the person who picked up our bags to be transferred and the person who delivered them to us at our new resort.

I'm not sure if Disney will transfer your luggage if you are moving to the Dolphin. Anyone know for sure?

The Dolphin is not a Disney hotel.

That's what I was thinking too.

We moved from Coronado to the Swan a few years ago and had to do the luggage ourselves. They said they didn't do luggage transfers to or from the Swan and Dolphin.

For what it's worth, Chip'nDale, a CM who contributes a lot here, said he used to do this as part of his duties and he has delivered luggage to S/D from WDW resorts. I'm not too concerned, it'll just be the two of us with 2 pieces on wheels each so if needs be on the day we switch we'll use Disney transportation to get us and our bags to Dolphin, drop them off there then go to MGM or Epcot.
