"Our First Member Event is Coming to California"

we got our postcard this weekend too! Not sure if we'll go to the event since we'll be going to DL on the 3rd to use our 2fer pass. but i'm going to try my best to get the bf to go to the event!

we have AKL.. i think they might've sent postcards to anyone that lives close enough to go to the event... ?

I called MS this morning to inquire about rooms, etc. and they have no information about this event yet. She put me on hold for quite some time and returned saying the only information they have right now is the same info as on the card...news to them, too!

Anyway, we will be going...booked at GC for 2 nights.

My guide has been telling me about this event for quite awhile now. She couldn't give away any specifics but did say if we wanted to add on any points this would be the weekend to do so. I have a feeling it will have to do with the Grand as well as Midway Mania previews.

There's basically no way that there could be incentives for non-Founding members to buy GCV points that weekend, right? I've been told by my guide that GVC will not go on sale before Fall and I also know that GVC will not open up to "regular" DVC members until after the Founding members have had their exclusive period of time to buy, but one can still wish...

I'll be at DL this weekend and will ask DVC guides, but it doesn't sound like they're providing much info on this event.

We thought they might give us a Midway Mania preview also. It might also be very much like the Welcome Home Wednesdays at BWV. Perhaps Miss DVC is coming to CA?

They will not be selling points for GCH to anyone this weekend. Points will not go on sale for GCH until this fall at the earliest.

I live close enough I don't need to get a room, but I'm wondering if it's the same presentation/offerings everyday?? I don't want to go everyday if it's the same thing each day, but if it's an actual weekend event with different surprises everday, then I want to go for the whole weekend.

I guess I will have to wait until they mail the details like the postcard said.

I spoke with my DVC rep here in SoCal (Linda) and she said that more info will be coming soon in the mail...such as specific times for each of those days. She confirmed that if I was interested in adding on that this would be the weekend/time to do so!! She also suggested that I make an appointment with her for one of those days so that she'll be able to make time for me (as oppossed to just dropping in and possibly having all of the sales people busy). She said she'd be calling me back soon with more info so once I hear more I'll post it!

Exactly. I made a reservation for the GCH for the 24th. If everyday is the same thing then that will be enough for me. But if everyday is different then I will have to rethink my plans!

We haven't received anything else except for the initial postcard saying they would be sending more info soon. I was told by MS last week that we should be receiving something in the mail the first full week of May(next week, I guess). She said that only people from CA, AZ, and NV are being invited and that you have to have an invitation to be able to attend. I guess once we have our invitation we have to call and make a reservation for it. I am really interested to see what the schedule is going to be like and what kind of events will be happening.

S/he probably means hotel reservations.

I wish they would hurry up and send out the info. I currently am only planning on staying one day , but if each day is going to be different I need to add an extra night.

I am so excited to see the GCV model! I wonder if they will finally give us price and a points chart at this gathering?

The event is in two weeks. You would think we would have heard something by now.

I asked several DVC guides while I was at DL and DCA April 24-27 and didn't get many details. One guide said it was going to be a fun event with characters and other good stuff, but to be honest, I didn't get the sense that the guides really were getting information or knew much.

No one in DL I asked knew when GCV would start sales. They all told me to talk to my guide in Orlando, indicating that the Orlando guides would know more.

So I tried to get details while I was at DL, but I'm afraid I just didn't find out much.
