Characters: Myself/27, the Planner
DH/28, turns 29 on the cruise
DD/10, almost as excited as I am
DS/3, fully potty trained and ready for the mickey pool
Let me start off by saying that I LIVE for vacations. I find comfort in always having some kind of getaway to look forward to. That being said, I do have the DISorder that seems to be prevalent on the DISboards, I refer to it as O.C.O.D. (Obsessive Compulsive Over-planning Disorder), and I have spent the last year reading the boards, making lists and buying necessary items (o.k., mostly not-so-necessary items) for our upcoming DREAM VACATION.
So, lets start with a little background info.
Me: I am a mother of 2, married to my high-school sweetheart. I am a project manager for our family construction business. Favorite Disney Character: Tink, of course.
DH: He works hard to support my vacation addiction but would rather I keep all of the planning stuff to myself.
He is very laid back person, likes to just play it by ear, which tends to balance us out a bit, seeing that I am the complete opposite of that. Favorite Disney Character: None, I would say he has the most in common with Grumpy though.
DD/10: This one keeps me busy. She is starting her 6th year of competitive cheerleading in June. In addition to cheer, which is extremely time and $$$ consuming, she plays volleyball in the Spring & the Fall. Basically, she is the reason for my 2nd profession as a chauffer.
Favorite Disney Character: Tink, and she has the attitude to match
DS/3: My little handful, lets just say
..I have put a request in with Disney that we have a table for 4 in the dining rooms so to spare all of you the adventure of eating a sit-down meal with my angel.
All kidding aside, he truly is a sweet boy, he just has his melt-down moments like most 3 year olds. Favorite Disney Character: Buzz
When all of this cruise planning business started, I would say that I was a fan of Disney, but not a super-fan. I think that the parks are great and the movies as well. To be completely honest, the only reason that we decided to spend the extra money and go on a Disney Cruise, was for the kids. I thought that the childrens programs sounded great, plus the lack of a Casino would force my DH to spend our money on more important things, like me!
(I would like to mention that since becoming a Disboard member, I am now officially a Disney super fan
)
I originally booked our cruise in October of 2006 for an early October 2007 Western. We ended up having to cancel that one because we were having a house built and our attention (and money) needed to be focused on that. Oh, but not to worry, a few months later I was on the prowl for a new cruise date and came across the Double Dip. Though I had never actually been on a Disney Cruise, I had been on the Disboards for a good 6 months at that point, and new that 2 stops at C.C. was a big deal. So, I booked it! A Cat. 6 on deck 6, sail date, September 27, 2008. Now, I just needed to tell my husband
Um
remember that nice, new, big house we had built? Well, it just so happens that it came with a nice, new, big mortgage payment.
Oh, yeah, that was another reason for picking the Double dip
..The hubbies birthday coincidently falls on the 3rd day of the cruise! HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY.
He took the news better than expected, and so the planning begins.
Okay, so bear with me as I try my best to pay it forward to future cruisers who are as green as I was when this whole thing started, before I found Dis!
