Wow - where do I start?? I'm used to planning our WDW trips at the very least a year prior. But not this time, we are going next month, NEXT MONTH!!! Isn't that awesome? You bet it is.

So, how did this come about, you say? Well after our last trip, well during actually, we talked about going back by ourselves, without the kids. Ha! As if that would really happen......

We always go for our marriage anniversary, but just throwing ideas in the air said what about the anniversary of when we met. Wouldn't that be different....so when we mention to our moms, as they are who we would like the kids to stay with and they don't say yes but don't say no either....thats good, right??

Again, like any of this would happen anyway........3 months later DH, Steve, got a transfer on his job. Is this good? Yippee Skippy it is!! With the extra money he suggests we could maybe take that trip we talked about. And the planning began.....

So there is Steve, DH

Now, when is a good time to go??? When can we go without missing too much work but yet get the most time there...it has to be in connection with a holiday...May...Memorial Day...May...Memorial Day...HEY, that will work!!!

Now, onto the hard part. "Mom, could you watch the kids for Steve and I to go to Disney?"...."What?? You said yea???" :woohoo: But to save my mom some energy we asked his mom to split the days/nights and she too said yes. Now, lookie here who we will be leaving behind

I know at some time we will be looking around for them but then again, do you know how long its been since Steve and I were able to ride the thrill rides together??? :dance3:

I began looking around for airfare. It really didn't matter to us which airline we used as long as we get there. Only reference is a non-stop flight. So, I started plugging in my dates. Flying out the morning of May 21 and back the evening of May 24. Prices were high but what more could I do....I know:surfweb: start playing around with the dates. So to fly out the evening of May 20 & come back the morning of May 25 was shown to save us alot of money!!!:goodvibes

Alas, brings us to our dates: May 20 - May 25

Now on May 20, we will have to go to work during the day (with :mickeyjum on our minds of course) but after that we are off to WDW - alone.

The day we come back we have an early flight which means we will have to be up really early for Magical Express but that shouldn't be a problem. When we get back home, we should be able to relax quietly as the kids will not be home.

Next up....where will we stay.........

My DH and I did a trip without the kids last December. It was very fun! I can't see your pics (while at work), so I'm not sure how old your kids are.

Congrats, I'm sure you will have a great time. I definately recommend dinner for two at the California Grill. That was one of the highlights of our trip!

Looking forward to reading more of your PTR!

Hi, glad to have a reader. :cool1: My boys are 7 & 2. You know, I looked into dinner at California Grill but as I went over my picks with Steve, he rathered Yachtmans. I think I will like that one also so no Cali Grill this time.

I was coming on here to tell you all which hotel we choose but I have some other very exciting mews.......guess what came in the mail yesterday????

Our Magical Express packet!!!:banana::banana:For a second or two, as I held that envelope in my hand - this whole trip didn't feel like a dream. It actually felt real!!! Because yes, it does not seem real to me yet.

Now, onto our resort destination.

We both knew we didn't want to stay at a Value. No offense we have stayed at them plenty. We had stayed at POFQ before & it was nice. Steve always wanted to stay at AKL. After reviewing prices we decided a mod would be our choice. Now...which one....

We thought about.....

POFQ (again) and honestly had thought about choosing it. We absolutely loved the boatride to DTD from here.

POR - during our stay at POFQ, the boys and I strolled over & it looked nice but big compare to POFQ

CSR - was a choice on a few of our last trips, I love the themeing while Steve doesn't. Being its just the two of us, compromises are in order. ;)

CBR - neither of us really like the beach scene a whole lot though I hear lots of great things about this place but recently family stayed there and didn't like it very much.

So...looks like our choice, based on the decision we like to try new places is POR :cheer2:

So now you have it, May 20-25 @ POR

Yeah .... I love POR. :thumbsup2 We stayed there on our first family trip to the world and it brings back such great memories for me. I really like the mansion section. Its so pretty. DH and I are doing a short free dining trip in Sept and I know I am going to regret our decision to stay value. I'm gonna try to stick with it though. I would love to go to POR or FQ, but I vowed to make this a budget trip!

I am very excited you got your ME package already. I haven't eaten at the Yachtsmen, but would love to try it.

Being this is a kid free trip and we do take advantage of park hoppers, I began by planning which we would be doing in the evenings first.

We prefer doing TS at the end of our day as a way to relax.

I had a few different places that came into question...some were: Mama Melrose, Sci-fi, Tony's, LeCellier, Tutto Italia, California Grill, Yachtmans, Wolfgang Puck, Grand Floridian Cafe

I called to make ADRs just knowing it was gonna be hard. I am usually up at the crack of dawn making those ressies on the very first day I can & now I was nearly a month fro the trip making them. So I got myself ready for disappointments & called. I had the ones we preferred but backups as well.

To my surprise, being I called with no time specifications, I got all the places I wished for. With our earliest dinner time being 4:45 pm and our latest 8:45 pm - not bad for us at all.

So, now I have for you our dining choices:

Sci-fi/Tutto Ilalia/Yachtmans/Wolfgang Puck

What does everyone think of the choices? Any fav dishes from any of them? Suggestions welcome.

I have to start working on CS/QS - whatever they are called now days. I think I pretty much have where we will be figured out, but we like trying new places yet get the most bang for our buck.

Dh and I are off next week to celebrate my birthday and we're leaving the kids behind too! So I just had to subscribe to your TR since we're doing the same sort of thing.

I'm so glad to hear about another couple leaving their kids at home to fly off to Disney themselves. It makes me feel more "sane" to find others. Out in the real world my friends don't understand why I would leave my kids at home when I'm going to Disney and then of course there is my least favorite expression "You're going to Disney again?"

I stayed at POR last summer and found it very pretty but very big. We ended up with a room really far from everything. It tainted my enjoyment as I was dragging the kids with me. I'm sure I wouldn't have minded if it was just DH and I. We loved the boats to Downtown Disney. It was so much more fun than the buses.

I haven't eaten at any of the restaurants you've picked although I'd like to. Maybe next time. I am going to try Wolfgang Puck's this upcoming trip.

I'm sure you'll have a great time and I'm looking forward to hearing all about it.

Hi :goodvibes So glad to have you here. I sorta feel like I'm talking to myself on here.

I'm glad to hear you & your DH is doing the same thing. When I first tell people we're going to Disney next month, I get the "again!?!!?" and I'm like um yea but without the kids & then they really freak.

POR does seem big. Hopefully not toting the kids arounds will make it easier to get around. Do they more than 1 bus stop there?

I wasn't sure if we would even do the whole photopass thing this trip. The last 2, I led a sharing group but I figured it was too late and the kids won't be there. Then I realized...um...hello...the kids will not be there!! Which means - it would be easier to just stop & pose for pics. So I searched & found a group needing 1 or 2 more people & jumped on it.

So hopefully we will be able to get some nice pics. I cannot wait to take some in Epcot. I have seen some really nice couple photos taken in WS.

Not a big update but atlease we all know I'll have pics to share after the trip.

Hi Roxanne,
I think it's awesome that you and DH are able to take this trip kid free. I am so excited for you, I can only imagine planning a trip just on a whim, must feel good to not have a year of torture.

I think your TS choices sound great.
I will stay tuned for your touring plan, you are going to post that, yes? I mean there is a touring plan, right? :)

Welcome - really am so glad to have you here. I will get to your report just as soon as I can. I love sharing experiences. It feels so weird planning this trip so fast. Guess why it just doesn't feel real.

I am pretty happy with my TS, but still need to get to CS. I mean I know places we already like but maybe there is something different to try.

Of course there is a touring plan & I will post it. I have it semi drawn up in my head but I need to put it on paper to actually see if it'll work before I post it. Silly, aren't I? Not really - but to the regular - non Disney world, I am. ;)

Waiting to hear about your touring plans and counter (opps) I mean quick service options.

How's all the organizing going getting the kids ready while you are gone? I've got two sleeps left to go and finished a three page letter of instructions for my parents looking after my three kids. Plus a bunch of mapquest directions for taking them to their various afterschool activities. I think the planning for the kids was more work than planning for my disney trip. It certainly was less fun.

I am still working on my touring plans & QS - I keep saying CS. I have 2 days planned so far.

Kids have places to go but I didn't start the instructions yet. But I'm sure I will have a lengthy one too. I completely forgot about after school activities, darn.....

I haven't been planning much lately, but I did go get me a replacement license. On our flight back home in December, the airline gave me problems with it. In Louisiana, when they renew your license, they put a sticker on the back of it. The airline didn't approve of that & gave me trouble. So to avoid it this time, I went get a new one.

Okay that's one thing down. What's next on the list?

Do you even have a list of things you need to do to get ready?

I love what my ticker says right about now :goodvibes

So.....here we gooooooooo.....
Day 1 - which I will consider Wed. 5/20

The day will start off as any regular day...work..work..work..wait, whats that?? I can't seem to get my mind on work because in a few hours I will be dropping the kids off at the grandparents house & we will be on our way to the airport to go to our happy place. Our flight is at 6:30 pm so we will be getting to WDW alittle too late to do anything. But just the thought of the DME bus dropping us off at POR gets me so excited:thumbsup2 - so all thats on the agenda for tonight is sleeping like a baby & having disney dreams of whats to come.

Day 2 Thurs. 5/21

Up & at em early to go to AK - we will stay here till lunch whihc we will prolbably eat from Flametree. Then go back to the room to rest up a bit before going to HS. Do whatever we can there before dinner at Sci Fi. I'd like to do Fantasmic this evening. Then back to the room to snooze for the night.

Day 3 coming up soon.....

Always interesting to see if people follow their original plans and why. I'll stay tuned to find out.

sounds good far. Flame Tree became one of my favorite CS meals on my last trip.
I know what you mean about just the thought of DME being enough to get you excited for the first night.

I'm not gonna lie, I am sick with jealousy right now. DO you have the can't sleep at night excitement yet?
