Hello everyone and welcome to my first ever dining review!! :goodvibes I've been a lurker on this board for quite some time now and always find dining reviews sooo helpful when choosing where to eat at Disney World. During our first Disney trip in January 2008, I had not yet discovered the Dis, and let me just say that the food choices on that trip were pretty sorry :rotfl2: After that first trip, I was HOOKED on WDW, and we have returned two times since then (and also developed an addition to the Dis). At first we were planning on going with Hawaii for the honeymoon... but then one day DH said, you sure you don't want to go to Disney? And I said well, we're only five months out, do you think we'll be able to get the ressies we would want (my main concern of course)?? So DH rushed to the computer and, miraculously, we were able to get ADRs for every single restaurant we wanted!! So the trip was booked within days, and DH and I were able to spend 9 days in the World, from September 5-13, for our honeymoon! We were on the DxDP, and usually ate a big breakfast or lunch, and then a signautre dinner most nights. Let me tell you, it was a LOT of food! Especially since we had to test out a bunch of tasty snacks to bring back reviews for you fine people :rolleyes1

Here is a list of the places we will be reviewing. We tried a lot of new places this time, but also visited some old favorites:

Captain Cooke's - Lunch pg 2
'Ohana - Dinner pg 2

Yachtsman Steakhouse - Dinner
Kona Cafe - Breakfast

Along with numerous snacks and alcoholic beverages along the way! Stay tuned for our first installment (As soon as photobucket decides that it likes me and lets me upload my pictures :worship:)

Thanks Pikezh638, I tried to fix and think that it's working now. Thanks for joining!

You ate at some of my favorite restuarants, can't wait to hear about your meals.

Congratulations! We were just at Disney for our honeymoon pretty much the same week as you, just a day earlier! (Sept 4th - Sept 12th). We probably saw you there ;) Looking forward to reading your reviews!

Welcome everyone!! So glad to have some readers Now let's get started!

First off, I wanted to introduce you to our rating system. We're going with a simply 1-5 system, with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. Here is what each number means to us:

5: Absolutely fabulous. We will be daydreaming about this food item/restaurant while sitting at our desks at work for the next few months. A real must do next time we go to Disney.
4: Very good, no complaints at all. Would definitely order again
3: Good, serviceable. Might order this item again, but probably not. Might visit this restaurant again at some point, but probably not on our next visit.
2: Not very good at all, definitely would not order/recommend.
1: YUCK! Bad, bad food. Would try our best to dissuade anyone from order this food item/eating here.

Sooo without further ado, let's get on with the food!!

DH and I had gotten married on Saturday, but hadn't wanted to rush right off on vacation with zero rest, so we had booked an 800 AM flight Monday morning to MCO. My alarm was set for 515, but of course I woke up at 415, full of energy and excitement cuz we were going to DISNEY WORLD today !!! When the alarm finally went off, DH groggily rolled around in bed, while I bounded down the hall and danced around the upstairs of our house yelling WE'RE GOING TO DISNEYWORLD!!! This, unfortunately, is not a lie. Here we are outside the airport, bright and early!

We quickly made our way through security and decided that we needed some breakfast, stat (I am not a super fun person when my belly is empty). So we went with the old faithful, Dunkin Donuts, and we took pictures so we could begin getting over the embarrassment of taking pictures of food in front of total strangers before we even got on the plane :rotfl2:

Here is my ham, egg, and cheese, on a bagel, with an iced coffee. Fascinating...

And DH's sausage egg and cheese (looks like ham to me, but he swear's that it's sausage)

These were perfectly serviceable and kept our bellies full until we reached Orlando, so I give mine a 3.5 and DH gives his a 4!

Now onto something a little more interesting!

We arrived at MCO right on time, picked up our rental car, and were off to WDW! After ALMOST getting pulled over by a state cop five minutes away from the airport (note to self: Next time if DH asks me what the speed limit is and I do not know, don't guess :rolleyes1) we arrived at our fave hotel, the Polynesian!! So beautiful. And who doesn't love driving under these two awesome arches??

At check in we were give two beautiful real flower leis because it was our honeymoon. We dropped our bags at our room and were ready for some CHOW! We headed over to Captain Cooke's to grab some lunch before we hit the parks. We paid OOP for this meal (which we shouldn't have, as we ended up with an extra meal credit in the end) and first got our refillable mugs (included in the DxDP) So cute!

We ordered two things to split, the Pork Nachos and the Aloha Pork Sandwich. Here's the sandwich:

Unfortunately this sandwich was a little disappointing. It wasn't on that yummy pineapple bread, and it wasn't a 'pressed sandwich' type thing, which is what I had seen pictures of on the boards. Instead, it was your basic pulled pork sandwich. I had heard that it had changed but was hoping that it wasn't so. The cole slaw was a little weird on its own, but good on top of the sandwich. DH and I both gave this sandwich a 2.5.

Well if I was dissappointed by the sandwich, these nachos were totally going to make it up to me!

YUMM!!! These were delicious house made chips topped with pulled pork, cheese, onion, pineapple and tomato. SO GOOD!! DH and I both give them a 4. We actually went back later in the trip to get another plate of these for a quick snack (not snack credit though). That's how good they were. I would definitely recommend them if you are going to be stopping by the Polynesian!

Next up... 'Ohana!! This was one of our fave dinners last year. Will it be able to live up to our high expectations?? Stay tuned to find out!

You and your DH are so cute! Congratulations! Count me in. We are looking at the DxDP for Dec. I can't wait for more!

Looking forward to hearing about Ohana! I've never been there but hoping to schedule it in for the next trip!

yay! I can't wait to read along.... :) I totally agree, the dining reviews are by far the most valuable advice when planning. Who cares what park, and where we're staying, I wanna know where to eat!!! :rotfl:

And a big congratulations!!!! 10 years ago I asked DH to take me to Disney on our honeymoon (before we had EVER been) and it was decided to be a no, because after all.. "Disney is for kids!":earseek: Don't worry, five years and two kids later we made our first trip... then he made up for it with our 10th anniversary grown ups only trip :D I'm just glad you got started early!!! It really is the way to go!!

Congratulations again, :groom: & :bride:
