We have three children, ages 7, 4, and 2, and we try to take them to Disney World every year.
Our middle child, a daughter, has High-Functioning Autism and Dystonia. It just so happens that one of her fixations is Disney World--in particular, "it's a small world." Her room is decorated in IASW, we have all the books and toys, she's had birthday party themed as IASW, we have the CD on repeat, and we watch a video ride through constantly. We love to be able to take her to her happy place.
This is the first year we have taken a video of our kids at WDW. I thought I'd post it here so you can see just how happy it makes her, and really ALL my kids! She's the middle one, the one with the curly hair and the sweet smile! Watch all of them engrossed in the magic, and see how very ABLE she is!

Thanks to all on this board who helped us make this trip her best yet. Your tips saved us many meltdowns and allowed us to even rest! We didn't know in past trips that we could use a stroller as her wheelchair when her legs weren't working--in the past we had just carried her, and she is SO HEAVY now--and that we could use alternate entrances for spaces that make her anxious! It was our first year with a GAC, and though we were able to not use it much due to great planning and FPs, it did come in very handy in some places. Because of you, so many people are able to enjoy every magical moment. THANKS!!!
