So after a big fun day at Seaworld, we headed to the Yacht Club for our dinner reservation at...
Yachtsman Steakhouse!!!
We arrived at the Yacht Club a little early on purpose. We'd never been there before, and my sister and her family are staying there in May for their first ever trip to Disney World, so I wanted to take some photos and explore a little before dinner.
It really is a beautiful resort! DH really loved it and said, "We'll stay here next time!" I was just excited there's going to be a "next time"!! Hehee!
So at 7.30 (our ADR time), we headed to Yachtsman Steakhouse and checked in. We were given a buzzer and were told it might be a 10 minute wait.
While we waited, we looked at the display of meats right near the entrance of the restaurant...
It was interesting to see the different cuts of meat, but I'm also glad the seating area is a long way away from the butchering area!! I'm not a huge red-meat eater, and only eat meat if it's really, really well done. I wouldn't have liked to watch the butcher cutting the steaks while I was eating!! Luckily, the dining area is nowhere near there. Phew!!
(You might be wondering why I'd choose Yachtsman Steakhouse if I don't love steak? This restaurant was DH's choice!! He loves a good steak!)
Straight after that, our buzzer went off! Woohoo! We only ended up waiting two minutes, maximum!
We were seated at a cosy little table for two, and were introduced to our server. He was lovely, and very professional and quite formal. All the servers were wearing traditional black and white server outfits, but at the same time, the atmosphere in the restaurant felt quite relaxed. There seemed to be a few business dinners happening around us, but also a few families and couples enjoying a nice night out.
We ordered drinks to start with. I chose a Bahama Mama from the cocktail menu - it was a mix of rum, with banana liquor in there as well. I really love banana flavoured drinks, which is why I ordered it... but nope! I couldn't really taste banana at all! Only rum!! It actually tasted quite similar to the Lapu Lapu at 'Ohana, believe it or not! Rum, rum, and lots more rum. Eeeek!
DH ordered a Corona, which he's always happy with. (We also had iced water.)
We were given some fresh bread - some plain white rolls and some garlic rolls, with butter and garlic cloves. They were all soft and fabulous! Especially with the garlic cloves spread onto it.
Next came the appetizers! DH chose the Chilled Seafood Salad, which included shrimp, lobster and crab...
He really enjoyed this. Just the right size for an appetizer, and he said everything was tasty and fresh. He did comment that a piece of the crab was a tiny bit chewy, but he gobbled everything up anyway, and gave the dish a big thumbs up.
For my appetizer, I had the Artisan Cheese assortment...
Excellent! I loved my cheeses!! I love cheese anyway, so this proved to be a great choice. There was only one minor problem - I didn't receive any explanation of the cheeses. This was a bit of a bummer, since I really didn't know what I was eating. But the most important thing was... I liked them all! I'll take a wild stab in the dark and have a guess at what each cheese might have been... If anybody actually knows, please feel free to correct me!!
The cheese on the left, I think, was a blue cheese of some type. This was the only cheese I wasn't a huge fan of. Blue cheese is just a bit too much for me! The next one was a very soft, creamy cheese - maybe some type of Brie or Camembert? The third cheese was quite sharp - almost tasted like a parmasen type cheese. And the last one, on the right, was soft and... I can't really remember anything else about that one. Hehehee, sorry! I'm a bad cheese describer!!
Anyway, most importantly, I loved my cheese plate! The accomaniments were all perfect with the selected cheese. Yum!
For his entree, DH chose the New York Strip Steak, which was served with a peppercorn sauce and potato gratin...
He really, really liked this steak! He loved the peppercorn sauce, and said the steak was cooked perfectly. We both asked for well done steak, and that's definitely what we both received. He also loved the cheesy potatoes.
I ordered the Filet Mignon, which was served with mashed potatoes and a red wine sauce...
This was also really, really good! They butterflied the steak to make sure it was well done enough for me. Hehee. That's why it looks like there's actually two filets in the photo. It was tender and delicious! And I don't even like steak much!! The potatoes were good too, and the sauce was excellent.
So far, we'd really enjoyed everything about our dinner! Would dessert live up to the rest of the meal!? Ooooh!
There was a display table with examples of all the desserts near the entrance of the restaurant, so we went to check it out. They all looked great, but DH decided on the sorbet trio...
There was chocolate, strawberry and vanilla flavoured sorbet in there somewhere.
Now, normally I have to pump DH for information on his food. If I ask, "How is it?" He'll say, "Yeah, good." Or if it's really good, he'll say, "Mmm, it's good!" But this sorbet?! I didn't even have to ask! He blurted out, "This is fantastic!! Have some!!" DH fell in love with this sorbet. Especially the strawberry. I tasted it and it really was fabulous. It tasted like real, fresh strawberries. Massive points for the sorbet!!
For my dessert, I ordered the creme brulee...
Again, yum!! I feel like I just keep saying, "Yum!" in the review, but everything really was delicious! The creme brulee was light and perfectly cooked, and even though I was full, I ate the whole thing.
So yes, dessert lived up to the rest of the meal! We really, really liked Yachtsman Steakhouse. Everything about it was excellent - the food, the service and the atmosphere. I asked DH at the end of our time in Disney what his favourite restaurant was, and he chose Yachtsman Steakhouse. Two thumbs waaaay up!!
We definitely gave Yachtsman Steahouse 5 out of 5!!
Next up... Breakfast at
Spoodles!
