Our delicious Deluxe Dining Adventures! Lots of pics! Final thoughts - All Done!!

I Love Ohana!! When my Dh and I were there in 07 we ate so many plates of the yummy potatoes the waiter gave us the recipe, I make it like every other week. We love it. THey really need to bring back the potatoes!!! Your pictures are perfect!!

Your reviews are great! I am so in!

Thanks, and welcome!! :)

This is making me SOOOO hungry. I wanted to eat there too but just didn't have the room to put it on our schedule. :) Glad you had a good experience.

Sorry for making you so hungry! Or maybe that's a good thing!? Who knows! :goodvibes

We'll be heading to Ohana's in May as well. We went last April and all I can think about is those wontons dipped in the peanut sauce!

Yay! The wontons in the peanut sauce are fabulous!! Have fun in May!

Oooooh...thanks so much for the great reviews and pics!! We've eaten at O'hana's twice and never had good servers, but still loved the meal. I'm very sad to see the wontons and potatoes are gone though.:sad1: Loved dipping those wontons in all 3 of the yummy sauces - the dumplings look good tho. Guess I'll have to start making the Maui potatoes at home more (I traditionally only make them for Xmas eve dinner, but now that I can't get them at Disney.....).

Can't wait to read more::yes::

Hmm, maybe I'll have to check out the Maui potatoes recipe! That's a great idea, thanks!

For the review of Ohana! It was our favorite place two years ago as well and I was also worried because I had read the negative reviews. I'm so glad that I made an ADR anyway--we'll be there in three weeks. Your pictures are great and the food looks delicious. Can't wait to see the rest of the report!:goodvibes

I'm glad you made an ADR at 'Ohana. Lucky you, only 3 weeks to go!! :cheer2:

Great review. I'm in limbo over O'hana's ~ hear alot of mixed reports in the past. But I might have to add them to the list.

Definitely add it to the list! It's lots of fun! Thanks for reading!

Last time we went to O'hanas we had good servers (very happy and upbeat!) but the meat was dry (maybe we were eating a little too late as the ressie was for 9PM). Still I think it's a pretty good restaurant to just enjoy the atmosphere! My son loved the "Easter Island" head and kept saying "you dumb dumb you give me gum gum!" Unfortunately I think the people next to us never saw this movie and I'm afraid they had certain thoughts about what a bad parent I was! :rotfl2:

Can't wait to hear more food reviews!

That's a bummer about the dry meat! Ours wasn't dry at all... in fact, the steak was a little underdone for my liking - I like it really, really well done! Funny story about the Easter Island head. Hehee!

O'Hanas sounds great - never been but will be on a 'to do' list noe. If we get back to WDW.

I hope you get back too, just so you can try 'Ohana and the peanut sauce!! ;)

AussieAngel,
I am not Australian, but my DH's nephew is from Sydney. He's staying with us while attending college. I picked up a little of his aussie lingo.:p

Ahh, okay! Good job with the Aussie lingo then!

I love the enthusiasm that comes with your review! :goodvibes

Everything sounds soooo yummy thus far! Can't wait to read more!

Thanks for your nice comments! More coming up soon! :wave2:

Thanks for the Ohana report! DH and I will be there late February for dinner. We have NEVER been there in all of our trips to WDW. After looking at your pictures, we are really looking forward to it (and maybe that pineapple drink too ;) )

Karen

I hope you like 'Ohana! Wow, not long to wait now then! :thumbsup2 Definitely try the Lapu Lapu!

Great job! We are still deciding on Ohana, we went last trip and enjoyed it but are not sure if we are going this trip. :confused3
I am looking forward to the rest of your reviews!

It's always tricky deciding which restaurants to go to! I'd go for 'Ohana though. Thanks for stopping by!

Quick question: What's in a Lapu Lapu?

Lots and lots of rum!! I'm not 100% sure, but I remember there being dark rum and light rum, pineapple juice, and lots of ice. I'm not sure if there was something else in there too?

I Love Ohana!! When my Dh and I were there in 07 we ate so many plates of the yummy potatoes the waiter gave us the recipe, I make it like every other week. We love it. THey really need to bring back the potatoes!!! Your pictures are perfect!!

I'm definitely going to have to check out that recipe!! Yum! They really were great. Thanks for the nice comment! :thumbsup2

Next review coming up in a sec! :cheer2:

Our second full day at Disney World was actually spent at... Seaworld! Eeeek! Don't tell Mickey. But before we went to Seaworld, we had a breakfast ADR at... The Wave!

That day was also the first day on the deluxe dining plan. Up until then, we'd been paying OOP for our meals. It's a long story, but basically because we were staying 12 nights, we had to break our stay into 2 - one 2 night package, and one 10 night package. So that morning, we had to check out of the WL and then check straight back in again. Easy and no fuss - and now we had deluxe dining! Yayyyyy!!! Let the real eating begin!! :cheer2:

I'd only ever read one review of The Wave for breakfast, but for some reason, I really fancied it! The menu looked great and I thought it would be something new and different to try. So off we went!

We caught a boat over the Contemporary, which we ended up doing quite a bit throughout our stay. We loved those little boats! We had a 7.30am ADR at The Wave and arrived right on time.

The entrance is very cool, and the restaurant inside is quite nice too. There weren't many people inside - only a few other tables were full. Hopefully it's a bit busier at lunch and dinner!

So our server told us we could choose a specialty drink as well as some bottled water. We chose Perrier water, which we shared. DH also had an orange juice and I had a special juice called Acai juice, which our server recommended. Here they are...

IMG_9005.jpg

DH enjoyed his orange juice just fine, but my Acai juice... errrmmmm.... eugh!! I'm not exactly sure what it was, but it tasted like blackcurrant juice mixed with cough medicine. It doesn't look very appetizing, does it?! I only drank a little bit of it. Lucky we had the water too! I'm sure it was actually very good for me, and it was probably my fault for not ordering something I knew I'd like, but... I won't be trying the Acai juice again. Hehee. :crazy2:

My food, on the other hand, was much better! I chose the Eggs Benedict, which comes served with a Petit Filet steak...

IMG_9006.jpg

I'm not much of a steak eater at the best of times, let alone for breakfast! Wah! I really only eat breakfast on the weekends and on vacation - normally I just grab a banana and eat in in the car. Bad, I know. But I still can't stomach massive amounts of food for breakfast. So no steak for me! DH gobbled it up though, and said it was excellent. :thumbsup2

My actual eggs benedict were fantastic! The sauce on top was called cheron sauce, which had a little spicy kick to it. Really nice finish to some very tasty eggs. The breakfast potatoes were good too. I really enjoyed this meal!

DH ordered the Ham and Cheese Omelette...

IMG_9008.jpg

... which he also really liked. After eating my filet though, he didn't eat all of his omelette, but he especially liked the cheesiness on top of the omelette. I had a little taste of it too and it tasted quite nice and light.

So that was breakfast at The Wave! It was pretty simple and easy, and most of all, very tasty and fresh. Everything was delicious - except for the Acai juice of course. Heh. We were only there for about 45 minutes all up, which gave us plenty of time to get to Seaworld before opening.

I'd definitely recommend The Wave for breakfast. It was quiet, easy and simple and a great alternative to a busy buffet if you're looking for something a bit different.

We gave The Wave 4 smilie men out of 5. :) :) :) :)

Next up... Our lunch at Seaworld, and some snacks!

I'm going to do our lunch at Seaworld right now actually, because it's really not very complicated!!

We had a fun morning at Seaworld, watching Shamu and playing with the dolphins. There was one problem though - there were crazy birds EVERYWHERE, swooping and stealing food from people's tables, and I have a bird phobia!! I hate anything with wings - moths are the worst, but birds are bad too. So our search for somewhere to eat today was really only affected by one thing - somewhere where there weren't too many birds!!

We finally found a little place called Captain Pete's Island Eats. No birds, woohoo!! It was typical fast food and nothing very exciting at all, but I still took a photo of it anyway!!

IMG_9088.jpg

I had a hot dog and fries, and DH just had some fries. He was still full from the filet breakfast!! I actually really enjoyed my hot dog! Sometimes that's all you feel like, I guess! And with deluxe dining, there's just no time for hot dogs. :confused3

DH liked his fries and said, "They hit the spot!"

But most importantly, there were no birds to steal the food from our hands. Phew!!

We gave Captain Pete's Island Eats 3 smilie men out of 5. :) :) :)

That afternoon back at Wilderness Lodge, we went down to Roaring Fork to pick up our refillable mugs and grab our first snacks. Yahooo!!!

The mugs are included on the deluxe dining plan, and we also had 2 snack credits to spend each day. Yowza, that's a lot of snacks! I'll tell you how we went with that along the way. But this day, DH chose a massive chocolate brownie and I chose a Mickey rice crispie.

IMG_9114.jpg

One word - yum! Who doesn't love brownies and Mickey rice crispies!!?

We used our refillable mugs quite a lot throughout our stay, whether it be for soda or just some iced water. It really is a great deal, and they're a fun souvenir to keep too.

We enjoyed eating our snacks outside on our beautiful balcony, and yayyy, we had many more yummy meals and snacks to come!! :yay:

Next up... our dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse!

Ohhh I want to try the Wave :) The food!!! YUM!!!

I agree! The Wave ranks up there as one of my must tries. It was nice seeing a breakfast review. We are also going to visit SeaWorld during our trip.

Looking forward to reading more!

I am going to Disney Paris in a few weeks and so hyped on Disney that I am now considering a trip to WDW soon too... I am a huge foodie and can't wait to try all these restaurants out......I am drooling.....:hyper:

Lapu Lapu, you made me laugh, I thought it tasted like nail varnish remover (not that I've ever tried nail varnish remover), only managed one sip, even tried mixing it with sprite. YUK.

I love the pictures from the Wave. We have yet to try this place. Now I am hungry for some rich, hearty breakfast food though. It all looks so good. Yeah, that Lapu Lapu is strong. Me and DH indulged on our last trip and well...they should be renamed Loopy Loopy, because that's how you are after finishing them! :rotfl:

I'm really enjoying your reviews and pictures. Yummy!
I too thought the Lapu Lapu was too strong. I asked the waitress for extra pineapple juice to add to it.:rotfl:

Great reviews so far!:thumbsup2 We can't wait for that Yachtsman Steakhouse review!!! We are eating there for the 1st time in May!!!:cool1:

Really enjoyed your reviews and your pictures. :) You have convinced me to give 'Ohana another try. (We struck them off the list when they put scalloped potatoes and messed with the shrimp a few years back.)

I love all your photos. I would have gained 20 pounds if I ate at all those places! I'm a foodie and can't wait to try some of those places, After reading all the negative reviews I had cancelled O'hanas, maybe I'll reconsider. Thanks!

Looks like I'll have to add the Wave to our list of "must trys" for breakfast! Thanks for another mouth watering review! Here's a link to the Maui potatoes - really easy to make (too easy....).http://allears.net/din/rec_maui.htm

Have fun at SeaWorld! Beware of the evil birds though!!!

Gimme more more more:rotfl:

I will, soon soon soon!! :thumbsup2

I'm really enjoying your reviews and pictures. Yummy!
I too thought the Lapu Lapu was too strong. I asked the waitress for extra pineapple juice to add to it.:rotfl:

That's a good idea! I should have done that! Was it better with extra pineapple juice?

It looks like you had a great time so far...

We did, thank you!!

Great reviews so far!:thumbsup2 We can't wait for that Yachtsman Steakhouse review!!! We are eating there for the 1st time in May!!!:cool1:

Oooh, you should reconsider 'Ohana, it's great! I didn't weigh myself afterwards, but all the walking at Disney definitely helps!!

Looks like I'll have to add the Wave to our list of "must trys" for breakfast! Thanks for another mouth watering review! Here's a link to the Maui potatoes - really easy to make (too easy....).http://allears.net/din/rec_maui.htm

Yay!! Thanks so much for the Maui potatoes recipe! I'm totally going to try it!! Awesome! :thumbsup2

It's nearly 11pm here now, and I've had a big day looking after my poor sick cat, Annie, but I'll be back with the Yachtsman Steakhouse review tomorrow!! Thanks again for reading, everybody!! :yay:

I'm so glad I found your dining report! I loved hearing about The Wave--we might try it on our upcoming trip. I might be able to get my dd out of bed for eggs benedict (her favorite and mine, too!) Oh, and I've had one of those brownies at Roaring Forks--they ARE enormous and they are delicious, too! Can't wait to read more--it sounds as though you hit all the great restaurants.
