So this is my first trip report I’ve done here on the DIS so please go easy on me!!

Also, the focus point on this report will be my daughter and her first trip to WDW so you’ll be seeing a lot of her. Wife says I am long winded so I apologize if that’s the case!!!

The cast of characters were Me, Dwife, DD (10 months) and MIL. At first when my DW told me that she wanted her mother to come with us, I was not overly thrilled. It has nothing to do with her as she is great, but I was looking forward to a vacation with just us. She sold me when she said how we were going to be able to go out after DD went to sleep! We literally haven’t been out of the house at night since she was born, so at that point I was like YES. It also helps that the Patriots were in the AFC Championship and I wanted to watch the game at ESPN…

Also, we were nervous how our daughter was going to do as this was the first time she was going to be spending the night anywhere but her own crib at home. To try to make things as much like home as possible, I rented a crib from a company that was recommended here on the DIS and brought the sheets we put on her crib at home.

Ok, so finally we are ready to go…

Day 1:

Our plane was leaving at 7:15 AM out of RI and we had decided to buy her a seat on the plane and bring our car seat. It really was never a question about buying her a seat and boy was it worth it, not only for safety. Since we had to wake her up at 4:45 AM, she quickly fell asleep in the car seat….

It was a 2 and a half hour plane ride and she ended up sleeping for 2 hours! She woke up in a great mood and we started popping cherios in her mouth to deal with the descent of the plane.

We had called FL Tours for a van because we needed a rear facing car seat so once to the baggage claim, and finally finding our driver, we were out to the van. Problem was, the car seat they had in the van was the travel system type and our daughter is over the weight limit for those SO….it was again great that I had brought our car seat and I installed the seat in the FL Tours van and off we went. It was great to finally be on vacation!!

Our next stop was at the Publix for groceries (BEER) and the Time Share Store for our complimentary gift basket. What a great idea by Tom at TTS…you walk in their store and you’d think you were in Beauty and the Bath, it was great.

Finally we get to Boardwalk and get assigned our room. I had gone out to take care of the bags and groceries and left Wife at the check in counter to get us our room. Since at this point it was around 1:30, we were hoping for a room that was ready so that we could feed DD and settle in a bit. Wife took the 1BR they had available and off we went….5th floor and wife said it was close to the elevator. Well, let me tell you, it was NOT close to the elevator. As a matter of fact it was the LAST room down the hallway.

A lot of people claim that the hallways at the Boardwalk are long, and to an extent they are, but it really isn’t that bad. I was actually happy because that meant we only had 1 neighbor to potentially disturb if DD has issues sleeping.

Here’s what greeted us upon entering the room. We left it there for the next guest to enjoy as well.

We had selected a better view and again even though we were in the LAST room, here’s the view we had from the balcony….it was awesome. I have a daytime pic here somewhere but can’t find it!

We all get settled in and it was hot out so off we went to check out the kiddie pool. Keep in mind, when we left RI, it was 9 degrees, so when we got to WDW and it was 80, it felt like it was 100 but it was great. Wife had forgotten to pack our daughter’s bathing suit so she didn’t go in and DD was not happy about that. We vowed that sometime that night we would buy her a suit.

IMG_5376.jpg

She was having a great time…look daddy I’m on the slide.

IMG_5392.jpg

All in all, she loved the pool…except that she couldn’t go in, but that was coming up the next day!

IMG_5402.jpg

It was getting to be about time to start the bed time routine so back to the room we went. In the 1BR at BWV the bathroom is split in 2 with a stand up shower area and a whirlpool area separated by a door. Also the whirlpool area is really in the master suite but separated by a wall. Since neither of us take baths, the whirlpool bathroom was the perfect place to set up the crib.

Our DD got her bath and the adventure of her sleeping her first night away from home began…..more of that tomorrow with stories of ESPN, Magic Kingdom and mom and dad’s ( DW and me) psychosis.

I am by no means an expert trip writier so I hope it's not boring!!

You are doing a great job so far on your first trip report. I am enjoying reading it and your daughter is just adorable.
I look forward to reading the rest of your trip report , we are going to WDW in Nov with our two girls and it will be their first trip away as well, and my Mom is going with us as well.
Keep up the good work.

Your daughter is adorable! DS will be 11 months when we venture to DL so I'm interested to see how it went with your daughter, and what rides she liked and such. Great job so far!

It appears that you are off to a great shot. I love the view from your balcony.

That is one beautiful baby! Can't wait to see more about her first WDW adventure.

Your daughter is absolutely adorable!! Can't wait to hear about how the first night went. I remember the first time we took my son to a hotel. He cried for about 30 minutes before he finally went to sleep and the people in the room next to us kept yelling "can't you shut that kid up". The kicker about the whole thing was, it was only 8:30 pm, so it wasn't like we were waking the people up in the middle of the night. If I had just put him down and let him scream for ten minutes he would have been out, but because the people kept yelling I kept picking him up and trying to calm him down, it took much longer. Can't wait to read more of your report.

You're doing a great job! Am looking forward to reading more and seeing more pictures.

So DW follows the normal routine at bedtime and DD goes into the crib. DW tiptoes out of the room and the second the door is shut, the crying starts! At home, she is good about going to sleep…but here, we needed to revert back to the 10 minute rule.

Me being the guy I am, I prying she goes quick as I am in the living room with the Patriots game on mute, beer in hand, and trying to restrain my excitement as they score points and hold San Diego to 3.

At this point it was only 7:45 or so, so who really could we be disturbing??? After 25 minutes and 2 trips in there to pat her, she falls asleep. PPPPHHHEEEEEEWWWWWW.

First words out of my mouth were…..LET’S GO. So we head to the elevator and down to the boardwalk we go.

This is really ironic, but as we’re walking to ESPN, I say to DW…..Hey look who that is….DW says I don’t recognize him…..it was the head coach of the New York Jets, Eric Mangini!! He is a former Patriot coach who defected to the Jets on not so good terms I guess. I had my hat on and my Pats shirt on, but I was polite and didn’t say anything to him as he was with what I guessed was his wife.

As I noted earlier, this was our FIRST night out together after the birth of our daughter and boy did it feel good. Don’t get me wrong, she’s # 1 in our lives, but both DW and I agreed it felt good to be out together.

Now on to the psychosis…due to this being our first night out, we were constantly worried if she was crying, if she was sleeping, was she cold, was she hot, could she sense that we weren’t there, on and on. DW must have called her mom’s cell phone 10 times for the rest of the game, but every time she called, her mother said, DON’T WORRY, SHE’S FINE. So with that, we enjoyed the game, and I had about 4 too many beers, but that’s a good thing while on vacation! We were bitterly disappointed that they lost, but we’re at WDW and that’s what mattered.

So the next morning DD wakes up at 5:15 !! She usually goes until 7 am ish, so for her first night away from home, 5:15 wasn’t bad at all. We were thrilled. We had bought a bunch of groceries at the store so a great breakfast of eggs, toast, coffee, and OJ was enjoyed by all.

DD was ready to go to Magic Kingdom !

IMG_5419.jpg

We ride the bus and get through bag check and through the ticket gates and just look how excited DD was to finally be in WDW!!!

IMG_5422.jpg

We enjoyed a snack as we let her nap awhile. This blows my mind, but here we are at the Magic Kingdom, there are Dole Wips, Mickey Premium Ice Cream bars, Rice Krispee treats, and what does DW want to snack on???? McDonald’s fries. Oh well, that’s what she wants.

So DD wakes up after awhile as we had over to Tomorrowland. As we’re passing the Castle there is that fenced in grassy area with a bunch of people in there with cameras filming this young woman. Everyone was taking pictures of her and Stacy from the 10 Must Sees fame was there interviewing her as well. We stood and watched for 10 minutes or so and every time the filming would stop she’d get on her cell phone. We never did find out who she was. She’s in the black shirt and pink skirt.

IMG_5426.jpg

Monster’s Inc Comedy Club, coming soon…

IMG_5428.jpg

So we headed up to DD first ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. This attraction, in my experience, is never busy and we actually like it a lot.

IMG_5429.jpg

Now I know at 10 months old she has no idea where she is or the concept of Disney, but you can tell when she is enjoying herself. By the time the end came, I’d say she liked it too!

IMG_5441.jpg

Then it was off of the TTA and right into Buzz Lightyear.

IMG_5442.jpg

She’s a very “thoughtful” baby. What I mean is that she observes everything and just seems to take it in.

Then as we’re heading back towards the Castle, we notice the show going on, so we stopped to watch it. They really do an excellent job.

IMG_5450.jpg

After a brief stop at the Baby Center, it was off to Pirates of the Caribbean.

BTW, as far as the Baby Center is concerned, it’s GREAT. We were worried about how we were going to get warm water for the bottles, or a decent place to change a diaper, etc. and the baby centers are wonderful. Just pop the bottle in the microwave and off you go. They have a room of changing tables too. The one in Magic Kingdom is located right next to Crystal Palace.

IMG_5454.jpg

I love the additions that they made to POTC while at the same time keeping some of the great original scenes.

What I am leaving out of this trip report was the stuff DW and I did during the time when DD took her nap. Since I am trying to make this report about her, we’ll skip the fact that we saw Mickey’s Philharmagic (awesome as usual), Space Mountain (jerky as usual), Dulce de Leche Ice Cream (fatty as usual)!

Since this day was hot as well, about 84 degrees, we decided that we needed to make one more stop at the gift shops on our way out of the park to make a couple purchases. One being a sun hat…….

IMG_5460.jpg

And the other being her new bathing suit!

IMG_5461.jpg

So off to the pool we go with one quick stop at the pool bar so daddy can get a nice refreshing drink. I had some sort of pina colada with bits of strawberries in it and plenty of booze.

Into the kiddie pool we go…boy was it nice and refreshing.

IMG_5473.jpg

Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh this is comfortable…great pillows!

IMG_5506.jpg

Pretty much after hanging out at the pool for an hour, it was time for us to go back to the room and eat some dinner. MIL cooked some platano(plantains) and eggs and onions. It hit the spot after a long day at the park and pool.

Again, very little issues with DD going to bed and this night it was actually a little quicker.

On our second night out, wife and I were a little more at ease. We walked through Epcot, went to do a couple rides….Soarin twice and Test Track. Then we grabbed dessert at Le Cellier and came out just in time to see Illuminations. Awesome as usual!

We slowly walked back to BWV and tip toed into our room and hit the pillows and went to bed. Great day in WDW was had by all!
