I made an ADR for 9:40pm for CA Grill (Wishes was at 10pm) hoping that we could watch the fireworks from the observation deck. We checked in at 9:30pm and were taken immediately to our table. DS was celebrating a first place in a competition he had been in the day before. Our table was covered with Disney Pixie Dust and the waiter and hostess both congratulated him.

1. VERY nice atmosphere but really not that great for kids.
2. We enjoyed watching the fireworks from the observation deck but I prefer to see them in the park--for the atmosphere. It was neat that they pipe in the music but it's a totally different experience watching them from above. It was nice and cool out on the deck and easy to see. There was plenty of room.
3. DS was way too tired to enjoy it. We were at the end of our trip so he'd been up late every night...going all day....I'd plan it earlier in the trip next time.
4. Neither one of us was very hungry since it was so late and we were both tired. Once our waiter realized that we were not going to order all 4 courses, there was a definite change in his attitude toward us and I was actually a little offended by it. I felt pressured to order more. He did not refill our drinks at all. He was not overtly rude, but just sort of neglectful of us after that.
5. The food was excellent. Overpriced but excellent.

Thanks for your review. Do you happen to remember the name of your waiter?
I love Cali Grill, but you're right, the waiter can make or break the tone of your meal. Sorry you had a bad one!

I think his name was Justin. He looked more "adult" that some of our other servers while at WDW. My overall reaction was to feel snubbed.

Thanks. I think it was more of a "bad luck" type of thing than an ongoing issue with CA Grill. I have friends who ate there and absolutely had a wonderful experience with it. I would plan it better next time.

We had a similar waiter at CA two years ago. Once he found out we were on the DDP, he was very neglectful. His demeanor totally changed towards us. He was very nice to the table next to ours. I don't know if they were paying OOP or not. But the difference between his attitude with us and with them was amazing. :sad2:

We much prefer Narcoossee's now. We got MUCH better service there.
