We made reservations for Avalon Cove, and enjoyed a nice lunch there. They have a fixed price on the menu of $12.95 which includes an appertizer and an entre. In addition they have the standard kids menu. Think the kids meal was $6.95.

I had their French Onion Soup, and Salmon BLT sandwich and it was very good. They also gave us Sourdough bread. The kids meal was served in a bucket they could take home, and they put the ketchup in the shovel. The ketchup in the shove idea was stupid, as my daughter (4 years old) of course dumped it on the floor. But other than that the food was good.

Ariel was in the reception area when we came in. While we were at the table, Goofy, Pluto and Minnie came around. I thought the character interaction was very poor. We have much better character interaction at Goofy's Kitchen.

Would I do it again, no. I rather eat at Goofy's Kitchen. But if you need Ariels autograph and picture, this is a good option to get it.

Great review, Can't wait to try the salmon BLT in September! Keep the food reviews coming ya'll!

thanks,

Surprised to hear about the poor character interaction, as we had just the opposite experience.

We ate and early dinner there on the first Sunday in May (I think the price is $17.95 for adults and $10.95 for kids) and had a GREAT time. The restaurant wasn't very crowded; Pluto, Chip, Dale, Minnie and Goofy spent lots of time and many visits with my 4 yr old DD. She even got a picture with her favorites Minnie and Ariel together... she was in heaven! They do a little dance (on the half hour) where they hand out tambourines, etc to the kids and do a sort of mambo line around the restaurant.

It was probably the best character dinner we've been to. Maybe it depends on the day of the week and time of day??

I thought the food was just so-so. I had the fish and chips and I think DD had grilled cheese, but it didn't come in a bucket.

Our experience was the polar opposite of Rita1965 -- HORRIBLE service, so-so food (not worth the price), but great character interaction.

How bad was the food & service? The manager felt it necessary to comp us our lunch (for a party of 5) and 3 Ariel dining pins!!

I ate there two Mondays ago for the first time, and our experience was great. I went with my friend, so it was just two 21 year old girls having lunch there. We both got the penne pasta, which we felt was well worth the $13 lunch price alone, but with the soup and bread and cotton candy was a great deal. The pasta had lots of garlic, just the way I like it, but there was LOTS of it, in fact, we couldn't even finish it. We had interaction will all of "mickey's gang" other than Mickey. Minnie sat with us, and we had "girl talk" about clothes. We said we liked her bow, she pointed to my new DCA shirt and clapped quite effervecently. :) She took pictures with both of us, and designed a new hairstyle for my friend...very voluminous. We spent lots of time with goofy, and pluto playfully "burried" our tip for our server under the cotton candy. Donald came by and did a great seaside dance (hopped a bit and saluted like the place was rocking too and fro.) Tons of food, fun, and pictures later, this became one of my favorite character interactions. I loved it. It wasn't as noisy as Goofy's can be, and it seemed like it was very appropriate for the kid at heart, where sometimes they just pass us by at Goofy's since we are adults, and assume we must not be into that.

Anyways, it seems like there are some various experiences, so my advice would be to go if something there appeals to your appetite, and just view the character interaction as a bonus, if you wish to.

All my best
~Tina

<font color=navy>I'd have to say that the best character interaction I've ever had at a meal was at Avalon Cove. The characters were great, but then so was our group (comprised of DIS members).

My rascals still talk about the night Tigger*Gal conga'd with Tink33, Barb, and the rest of the crazy bunch, and how luvdsny almost had Minnie laugh out loud. :)

I also enjoyed my food quite a bit, too.
