Our Anniversary Week at the Happiest Place on Earth!! TR DONE 8/30 SOUVENIR POST SOON

Hey everyone!! Just a little bit of a "life" update for right now. First of all...

AMERICA GOT IT WAYYYYY WRONG WITH AMERICAN IDOL. SERIOUSLY, KRIS WINNING IS CRAP!

Can you say crap on the Dis? I hope so. Anyway, I was very happy that Shawn Johnson won Dancing with the Stars. All 3 finalists were really good and based on their dancing I think any of the 3 of them winning would have been fair. When I factor in who I actually liked the best, I picked Shawn.

So yesterday, me, Chris, my friend Nicole (who is on the Dis now! I've created a monsterrrrrr :rotfl: ibedancin824 is her name which she'll be so happy I told you all) and her BF Scott went to NYC to see...

LKbway.jpg

The Lion King on Broadway! OMG when I say this show was amazing, its a biggggg understatement!!! The costuming, dancing, everything was gorgeous! A lot of the performers had to wear mask type things on their heads and then dance and sing and jump and twirl when them on. Coming from someone who was a dancer for over 13 years, THAT IS HARD! The only thing I thought could have been slightly better, and I know this is probably a little harsh, was the singing. I've seen a good amount of Broadway shows in my life (not even close to as many as Melissa but still LOL) and I just wasn't blown away by the singing here. Everything else though was out of this world. I highly recommend this show! We got seats in the orchestra section about 10 rows from the stage for $75 each...you cant beat that!

While in NYC we also went into the Barnes and Noble on 5th Ave (where I bought my very own 2009 Passporter!!) and the World of Disney! Of course going into the WoD was great because it gave me a little Disney spirit to carry me through until November, aside from the show. I went in there reallly looking for another photo album since I printed more pictures than I had room for in the albums I bought. No luck. Tons of frames but NO albums. Bummer. Then we went and ate at Ellen's Stardust Diner. 3 words.

What a ripoff.

Or is ripoff 2 words in which case it would be 4 words. Anyway, I've never felt more like I wasted $35 in my life. The bill came to $140 with tip for all of us and we have a better diner out here 5 mins from my house. The food was good but not even close to being worth $140. We could have been more satisfied with dinner at Applebees. The singing waiters were actually more annoying to me than entertaining and trust me, I'm not just a Debbie Downer. I'm into that stuff. NOT HERE. Of course because Nicole and I (mostly me) picked the restaurant the boys didn't let us live it down for the rest of the night. We went into the Hershey's and M&Ms store afterwards and they kept telling us we couldnt buy anything because we wasted all our money on dinner. Oh well, you live and learn. So then we saw the show at 8pm and it wasn't over until almost 10:45! We caught a train back home at 11:15 and I ended up not getting to sleep until around 2am and then had to be up for work at 6:15. I've been a real peach today, let me tell you. So thats my little "life" update. Stay tuned for another TR update sometime this weekend :thumbsup2

Isn't that Kid Rock? :rotfl2::rotfl2: j/k wonder if that was set up for Travel Channel or something? Would be neat to know \:happytv:

:lmao: That guy does look like Kid Rock!! Actually he looks a little cleaner than Kid Rock.

Your morning at AK sounds wonderful! Can't wait to read more!

It was great!! Thanks :thumbsup2

Great update! I love the safari in the morning. We always go in the morning.. I wonder how it is in the rest of the day! The pictures were awesome. I don't think we seen a Lion either last time. The giraffes are beautiful! I love them!!! You got really close to them too!

Your food looked yummy! and cute pictures of you and Chris!! I think they all look cute! :goodvibes

Ahhhh you're in WDW right now!! Lucky dawgggggg! We loved TH, I forget if you guys are eating there this week or not!

funny that we posted our tusker house updates at the same time! :goodvibes we loved it too! i'm glad we went. i'm pretty sure we'll be back! and you're crazy - your update was awesome!!!! ;) Thanks Dawn! That is pretty funny we posted about the same thing the same day LOL

i love it! :thumbsup2

Glad you liked our picture!!

Congratulations on your exam scores!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!

Girl when you update, you update. That was a long one. I'm not complaning though, I loved it.

The safari pics are great!! I can't wait to see the hippos, I have never seen any in real life before. I love giraffes too. At the Cincinnati zoo you can feed them peices of sweet potatos through the fence! It is so cool.

I was looking for a breakfast place and Tusker House looks really good. Mike is skeptical about character meals w/o our daughter along, but I think one might be fun.

I always feel like my updates are so long but then I realize its still only like 10:15am on day 2 and I've been doing the TR for almost a month now LOL Thats so cool that you can feed the giraffes at the Cincinnati zoo! TH breakfast was great, we obviously don't have any kids and seriously enjoyed ourselves sooo much.

Your pics from the safari are great. It looks like you were so close to some of them. Our pictures of the elephants always look so far away...even w/ the zoom.

We tried to get an ADR for Tusker House for our trip in June, but I made the mistake of waiting until after the 90 day mark, so by the time I called it was fully booked for every morning of our trip. Your review makes me even more bummed because it sounds so good! We are going to Crystal Palace, which I have heard is great too. I will just have to do better w/ my planning next time I guess. So glad you had a great time!

Thanks for the compliments on the safari pics! That stinks that you couldn't get TH ressies, keep calling back and trying if you really want them! I would suggest it! I've heard CP is very delicious too though so I'm sure you wont be too bummer after you eat there instead :thumbsup2
Great job on your grades :thumbsup2. TH looks like fun, and the food looks YUMMY! Great Updates, looking forward to more.

OK, I can't remember if I have commented on your thread or just been a scary lurker, but I am loving your TR! Can't wait for the next installment!

I am so interested to hear your thoughts on not doing the dining plan, as I can't decide of DBF and I should do it. Seems like you guys are similar to us, so your opinion will definitely help me. :thumbsup2

Congrats about being done and your awesome grades! School is so stressful! You definitely need a Disney trip when you're done. :dance3:

Uh oh, scary lurker alert....:rotfl: Just kidding! Glad you posted and joined in! I'm glad I'll be able to help people out with our thoughts on not doing the DP. How old are you and your BF if you dont mind me asking?

I think I need a Disney trip at the end of every semester, what do you think? :cutie:

Hope you got SOME sleep last night!

OMG only 4 hrs! I was a real witch with a B today :rotfl:

I'm so glad you liked the Lion King!!! That's actually one I haven't seen yet so you've got me beat  I can't believe you didn't like Ellen's!!! It's expensive but we LOVE it. I love the singers too, it's always so much fun. Maybe it was just an off day? Sorry you didn't like it! Did you take any pics?!!

I took my kids to see Lion King in San Antonio - It was truly one of the most magical, awesome plays I have every been to. My kids are totally into the theater after that experience. The costumes are the most amzing things every. And when the animals come through the audience - WOW:wizard:
That is the one play that is an absolute must for everyone. It is a splurge well worth it.:thumbsup2
Glad you had a great time. Sorry about the resturaunt - what a bummer:sad2:
Get caught up on your sleep cuz I'm ready for my next updatepopcorn::

Some of my teacher friends went to see Lion King here in Nashville a couple of years ago, and they said it was past awesome!

Long updates? Taking a long time to do a report?
Perhaps you went to the MeMom School of Trip Reporting. :rolleyes1

A trip at the end of every semester is perfect. It oughta be a law! :)

DBF is 31 and I am 27 (although it seems like DBF is 20 and I am 40 some of the time :rotfl:)

I think people should get Disney trips for just breathing! ;)

I agree with you too - America definitely got it wrong with AI!

Glad you enjoyed The Lion King :)
I have been meaning to go see it for so long (its on in London too) but still havent got around to it, though its started in Vegas now and im going there in september so i might get tickets to see it there :)

Mel, you gottaaaaaa see the Lion King! It was awesomeeeee. Ellen's really....not a fan LOL I seriously can get better food at a diner by my house and the singers looked like they were doing chores, not doing something they were having fun with! Could have been an off day, who knows. I actually took NO pictures. I'm mad at myself for it but it was honestly much less stressful not taking them

Lion King was AMAZING! I'm glad your kids had that to get them into theater because its so fun. Yes the animals coming through the audience are so cool!! Totally worth it.

Look for an update soon!

The Lion King was MORE than awesome! I like how you update your TR MeMom, little updates but every couple of days. I say we create a bill to make trips at the end of every semester law!

I agree with you too - America definitely got it wrong with AI!

Disney trips should be mandatory at least twice a year, funded by the government  and AI was totally WRONG!

Glad you enjoyed The Lion King :)
I have been meaning to go see it for so long (its on in London too) but still havent got around to it, though its started in Vegas now and im going there in september so i might get tickets to see it there :)

I would highlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy recommend the Lion King!! See it in Vegas which you're really lucky for getting to go!! We're going for my dad's 50th bday...in 2012 LOL I talk about it like its soon though :lmao:

Definitely agree on American Idol. I like Kris alright but Adam totally should have won. I never thought I would say that! I have a feeling Kris is going to end up like Taylor Hicks. Who knows, maybe he'll prove me wrong. :confused3

Glad you liked the Lion King! It was an amazing show when we saw it too. :thumbsup2

I saw Lion King here in Boston and thought it was great too! The music is just so awesome.

As far as albums...I bought one in WDW that won't be big enough, I know. But, at a local Hallmark store here they have some cute ones with Mickey on them. Now, they don't say Walt Disney World, but they're still a Mickey album.

But have you noticed on AI - the person who didn't win, seems to do better professionally than the winner

Soooo jealous that you got to see the Lion King. My brother saw it a couple of years ago and he raved about it too.

I really thought that Adam was going to win AI too, but I'm glad for Kris. We all know that Adam will be successful either way, but I think this will give Kris a chance to get his name out there more and have a shot at lasting. I liked all of his acoustic guitar stuff.

Attention all my TR readers, listen up!!! There is some HUGE, AMAZING, WONDERFUL, EXCITING, UNEXPECTED, TERRIFIC NEWS coming to all of you from me right now. :yay::yay:WE'RE GOING TO BE STAYING AT ANIMAL KINGDOM VILLAS IN THE NEWLY OPENED KIDANI VILLAGE!!!!! :yay::yay:

Chris and I never thought we'd be able to stay in a deluxe resort until we were like 30 because of how much money it costs and we'd just have to save for years to afford it. Then the other night my friend Nicole (ibedancin824) and I were talking and she mentioned renting DVC points for her upcoming trip in August and how it would be really cheap except they're doing free dining so it wasnt an option. Of course when she told me how cheap she could get into a deluxe villa it sparked my interest and I went to check out how much it would be for our Novemeber trip. I saw how much and it was totally affordable and less money than we were spending at Coronado Springs! I remembered Dawn (punkin413) talking about renting points and how she used a reliable, trustworthy renter so I asked her who it was and then contacted the Diser. After talking and figuring out the details for a few days, she called this morning and booked AKV for us in a standard view room in Kidani for $130 less than we're paying to stay at CS! :woohoo: Chris and I are like shocked because, like I said, we never thought we'd be able to stay at a deluxe for many years.

Thank you Tara!!!!! (Eventer98)

She was so sweet and made everything go so smoothly and I would HIGHLY recommend renting points from her for anyone who is interested!! So there it is! On November 18th, we'll be starting our first stay at Kidani Village!:banana::banana:

TR update later today or tomorrow! Have a good Memorial Day Weekend everyone!

:thumbsup2

I like Kris too, don't get me wrong. He's definitely talented but he doesn't have that "it" factor that Adam has. I agree with you and think Kris may end up like Taylor Hicks!

Lion King was great! So amazing!!

It seems anyone who saw the Lion King performed anywhere in the country thought it was awesome!

Thats a good idea with the album, I didn't even think of that. Theres a Hallmark store right by my house too, I should check if they have it.

But have you noticed on AI - the person who didn't win, seems to do better professionally than the winner

Yes it sure has happened that way on more than one season which is why I know that Adam has a huge career ahead whether he won or not! :thumbsup2

Lion King was amazing, highly recommended!

Adam totally should have won AI. Kris is for sure veryyy talented but Adam was obviously more of the overall talent package. I hope he does become successful and proves me wrong, I just dont see it happening. :sad2:

I liked Danny Gokey:goodvibes

ME TOO!! I was a Gokey fan but once he got voted off I had to concede and admit Adam deserved to win. I think Kris ended up getting a lot of the Gokey fans votes which helped him win.

YAY!!!! Congrats!!!

Isn't it exciting to finally be able to go to a deluxe!!

Animal Kingdom - awesome!! I am so jealous.
How do you rent DVC points?:confused3
I have seen in the past that you can buy people vacation points through a realator - but never heard of renting them

I would highlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy recommend the Lion King!! See it in Vegas which you're really lucky for getting to go!! We're going for my dad's 50th bday...in 2012 LOL I talk about it like its soon though :lmao:

Ideally i'd love to see it in NY, just because its broadway but I still have no confirmed plans off when i'll finally get to visit there :sad1: although i have next june in mind so fingerscrossed and if i do i Just have to see a show on Braodway although I've never even seen a show before :rolleyes1 but im sure i'll enjoy them espcially The Lion King. I really want to go see Dirty Dancing atm (thats playing in London too)
Oh i know what you mean about talking about trips that are a few years away like you're going in the next few months or so  i'm not going back to Disneyworld till 2011 (wipes the tears from my eyes) but im talking about it and picking hotels, what i want to do already, its never too early to plan or get excited :lmao:

I got to see the AI results last night although i already knew who won  because i see it on the net on a number of sites so it ruined the show a bit for me but i still enjoyed it. I agree Adam should have won, i picked him for the winner from the auditions i thought he was fantastic, but i have to say i wasn't tooo disapointed Kris won as i did like him too plus he's nice to look at  :rolleyes1

wooohoooo at getting to stay at the AKV :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1: congratulations

Just wanted to say I LOVE your TR so far and can't wait to read the rest!! popcorn::

I think now I need to check out the info on the costs for the DVC points for my trip next year!

So exciting about staying at Kidani. Brooklynn saw pictures of the pool area and wants to stay there. John and I have talked about renting points before from someone so maybe we will check it out.

So as everyone knows we're heading back to WDW in November and instead of starting a whole new PTR thread I'm just going to mix it into here. Is that ok? I hope so :goodvibes So here's what we have so far for it...

Who: Chris and Kristen
When: Wednesday November 18-Monday November 23 (Chris's 25th bday is the 22nd!)
Where: Animal Kingdom Villas-Kidani Village!!!! :)
Why: Because we love WDW! And to also celebrate Chris's bday of course.

We'll fly there because we're not really into the whole driving a million hours and spending the money to stay overnight at a hotel on the drive down. I'm waiting for Southwest to release their fares for November (which I heard will be released June 23) because we really want to fly out of our local airport and not have to drive into the city to fly out of JFK. And, Southwest is usually the cheapest anyway and has direct flights to Orlando. We haven't planned out any of the days of the trip yet because there's no hours out or anything yet. As for tickets, we have leftovers from the April trip, 3 days of base tickets and 5 fun visits (from the water park fun and more option on the April tickets). The only thing we need is one extra base ticket each because Chris decided he'd rather have the $75 gift card instead of getting in for free on his birthday. I was looking earlier for any discounts I could find on one day tickets and I couldn't find anything, not even through AAA. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know!! :thumbsup2 As for dining, we have some ideas of where we want to eat but need to narrow it down alot. Here's what we're thinking, give me your opinions! Restaurants that have * next to them mean we definitely want to do them.

O'hana dinner*
Chef Mickey's breakfast or dinner*
Kona breakfast
Tusker House breakfast
Mama Melrose F! package (only if we decided we want to see F! again, we may not)
House of Blues dinner (because of how much Chris loved it here)*
Tutto Italia dinner
Boma dinner
50s Prime Time Cafe lunch*

I think thats it. Chris will pick somewhere to eat dinner on his bday. Also on this trip we're planning to hit Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and do the Keys to the Kingdom tour, both of which I'm soooo excited about!! Just under 6 months to go!!!! :yay:

now back to the TR...
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So when we last left off we had just finished our DELICIOUS, FUN breakfast at Tusker House! It was about 10:20 at this point. Now that we were filled to the brim we were a little weary about heading over to use our EE fastpasses we had gotten earlier but we headed over that way anyway. On our way we ran into someone who I was surprised and excited to see

159.jpg

Divine!

161.jpg

I tried to get more shots but there were a lot of people surrounding her and I couldn't get very close without totally stepping in front of someone. I'm not rude so I didn't do that :)

Another pic on the way over to EE

162.jpg

We got over to EE and there was a 40 minute wait posted! Good thing we had our handy dandy FPs! We walked into the FP entrance and waited less than 5 mins on line again. When we got up to the CM directing guests to their rows (she was from Scotland and I thought her accent was super cool) we asked if we could ride in the back. No problem! Like I said before, we're huge roller coaster people and honestly, WDW rollercoasters aren't bad at all compared to the ones that are at Six Flags in NJ or anyplace like that. Anyway, usually rollercoasters are better if you sit in the front but from my trusty friends on the Dis I knew to try and ride EE in the back. All I can say is WOW! Sooooo much better!!!! EE was totally amazing and wayyyyy better from the back! We loved it and its now my favorite ride in WDW! :thumbsup2 Here's some shots of EE after we rode it the second time

The statue thing in this picture was made to have the same outline shape as EE. I read on allears.net.
163.jpg

164.jpg

165.jpg

After EE it was time for a bathroom break. We had decided at breakfast that after our EE ride we would get on line for 11:30 showing of Finding Nemo the musical so we headed over to the bathrooms over by the Nemo theater. After a quick pitstop, Chris went and got on the already very long Nemo line while I grabbed a bottle of water from a nearby little toy/drink cart. There were these 2 little kids in front of me on the line buying Crush stuffed animals and the CM who rang them up kept saying "totally dude!" and stuff to them. Thats the magical stuff that I love about Disney! :wizard: So I went and joined Chris on the line for Nemo and within a few minutes these guys started setting up by the line of people

166.jpg

Live music! Of course that meant Chris was happy as a clam. To his dismay, shortly after the musicians set up the line started to move into the theater. We probably waited a total of 20 mins on the line to get into the Nemo theater. Not bad at all.
