Our amazing 7-night eastern cruise - 9/26/09

Yes, we did. We're going on the 5 nighter on June 12, 2011 with two stops at Castaway Cay. AND, we booked using DVC points so it only cost $95!!! What cruise did you end up booking?

Congrats! That's an unbeatable price. Still got the WDW christmas next year also planned?

I ended up cancelling the 2 ressies I had. Feel they dropped the ball on our little problem. Would've looked into the Dreams, but backed out of that also for the same reason. So now I've got 3 weeks WDW in the planning for next year. Not sure if I can pull it off, though.

Ug - I hate to hear that they wouldn't work with you. That stinks!! You really should look into the Dream, though. The prices are unbelievablely cheap (or cheap for Disney - LOL). I would love to cruise with you again, Hon. And, for what it's worth, we are definitely a go for Christmas next year - from December 18-January 1. :goodvibes

Wow, that REALLY is Christmas at the World. Not like we did last year, somewhere in december. :rotfl: And New Years to top it off. I envy you! :goodvibes Especially with your home resort, it should be a great place to watch the fireworks without getting trampelled or having to be at MK at dawn.

I know about the prices. :) Besides that; more cats are accessible so even a bit cheaper options. Yet, they couldn't give me proper acces. info for the Magic after having been sailing it for about 10 years. Makes me very wary to trust them to give me the proper info in 2011 after only a couple of months of sailing with the Dreams. Mistakes can be made, but the way they 'dealt' with it, nah I've had my share so to say. Really seriously would've loved to cruise again, esp. with great folks like your family, but as long as they can't provide proper info nor learn from that, I find it's not a smart move to rebook the Dreams and taking the risk of again being misinformed.

Could be worse though. WDW must have smelt this, got a 20/30/40% pinCODE that's valid for most of 2010. :goodvibes And, parents are looking into an Australian cruise with HAL. Small chance but if it comes through, I'm invited along at no cost.:love:

Yeah, I'm very much looking forward to it. I know that it's going to be super crowded, but we've been to the parks so much that we will be find not going every single day, and taking time to do other stuff (including Universal for a couple of days ). I actually love Harry Potter, so Universal is a big draw for me given their new "land" that's opening next year.

And, no doubt you're getting pin codes like crazy - Disney always seems to know exactly when to try and part us from our money. :lmao:

Oh, I can't wait. We are trying to decide if this is an excursion for us to do in March!

(As a spoiler, you should definitely do it!!! It was a BLAST!!!!!)

And you think Universal will be anything less busy? Funny lady! :lmao::rotfl2: Can understand the appeal of HP-land though. :thumbsup2

Especially the later. It's like raining PINs in my mailbox. Also got one for 30 or 40% (can't remember exactly) off during Christmas and NewYears 2009. Now that's rain I'll never complain about.

But back on subject; we want the ATV-pics! And let's not forget TB during Pirate Night with a matching pirate eye that was a unique outfit. ;)

Of all of the events we were looking forward to on the cruise, we were probably the most excited about riding the ATVs at St. Maarten. About three months before our cruise, one of the families in our DIS group actually found the ATV excursion outside of those offered through Disney and, because it sounded like so much fun, a lot of us jumped at the chance to go. My only regret is that The Big wasn’t old enough to join us - - I know that she would have had a blast.

Anyway, after breakfast, we dropped The Big off at the Club, and proceeded to disembark from the ship.

The excursion confirmation we were provided said that someone would meet us near the security checkpoint and would be holding a sign for us. Although it took some doing, we finally found the security checkpoint and, as we were waiting someone pulled up and ushered us into his van, saying he was from the ATV excursion. I was admittedly a bit hesitant to go with him since we all kind of looked like tourists ripe for the picking, but, thankfully, within a matter of 10 minutes, we were dropped off at ATV haven.

Since our group was the first to arrive, we had first dibs on our ATVs. Once everyone arrived, we got our helmets and a quick crash course on how to operate our vehicles, and took off. Since I’ve never driven an ATV, I really was worried about handling the thing, but it ended up being very easy. Also, our two guides were absolute pros in navigating us safely through the insanely busy streets of St. Maarten.

The tour was to take us around St. Maarten, and also offered an hour stop at Orient Bay. But, about 30 minutes into our ride, we got to stop right by the beach to take pictures and play with the sea creatures. Although they look frightful, they were quite harmless.

After driving for another 45 minutes or so, we arrived at Orient Beach. Although the excursion paperwork said that we were going to be on a public nude beach, we ended up outside of a restaurant/bar with a private beach area.

It was wonderful and, although we didn't swim ourselves, many DISers and their families were enjoying the water. If you opt for this excursion, though, be aware that you are going to get approached several times to purchase items. I actually ended up buying two bracelets for The Big, which she loved, but I hated being pressured into it. Still, it was a great time, although we found ourselves feeling super guilty that The Big was in the Club while we were enjoying this wonderful excursion. (And, since this is a "full disclosure" trip report, here I am in all my ATV glory.)

The ride back took another 30-45 minutes and we arrived back at the ship with no problems.

I would *wholeheartedly* recommend this excursion. It was everything that I was hoping for and so much more. The guides were very entertaining and informative, and they made me feel super safe at all times (one always rode ahead to stop traffic for us while the other made sure that we were all together). This experience will be a treasured memory for me, and I can't wait to go on the Eastern itinerary again so The Big can enjoy it with us.

Well, that's it for now...up next: Pirates in the Caribbean. As always, I appreciate you reading.

Yet another great addition. Can you believe it's already been 2 months since we got back home?

One of those staterooms in the pic look familiar, by the way. :thumbsup2:rotfl:

Thank you!! Yeah, the sea creatures were a lot of fun. They were all very tickley when they "walked" across our hands. :goodvibes

Yes, good photos there! But how is it that you got to see them without being in the ocean? Do they have these specimens held captive for view and touch? Or were they brought from the water by tourists or residents? The same set of animals are also seen while snorkeling about on this island or on CC as well.

Tizgud to have your occasional reminders of a pleasant vacation, so 2 months after our return, the joy is recalled. Thxsomuch!

I know it - - and that really means I need to get my butt in gear and finish my TR!! :rotfl2:

That ATV excursion looks really fun!

Yes, it was a blast!! :woohoo:

About the sea creatures, when we stopped our guides directed us to some guy just standing right by the ocean and pulling the creatures right out of the ocean and placing them into our hand. I don't know if they were held captive or if the guy was just that darn good, but it was pretty cool either way. That's neat that CC has the same creatures. Since my DD will be 7 when we cruise again, I hope to finally get to snorkle with her. :woohoo:

You said it, not me. Although I of course always agree with ya. :rolleyes1:lmao:

I have to agree...:rotfl2:How is everyone doing? Been keeping up with the report, but I have not logged on for a while.

I know guys - the holidays are killing me this year. :rolleyes1 My goal is to be done by the first of the year....we'll see how that goes. Maybe my New Year's resolution should be to not procrastinate so much?! :rotfl:

Sounds like you got a "1001 excuses book" in your stocking last year. Maybe this year it could be a "how do I plan my tripreports booklet"? :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Keith, how are things? Business back on track?
