Our 5/4 Magic cruise was, well, um, OK, I guess...

I read about you noticing other children crying in the club and no one paging the parents (or the parents not coming). We had the opposite occur on our first cruise last Dec.... my son let a tear slide down his cheek and they IMMEDIATELY paged us. He never cried, just "Looked" sad so they called us. I thought this was odd, but when I was in there if a child even said "I want my mommy/daddy" then they went right over and paged them. I guess it's different every cruise. Our past cruise in April went well as I stayed in there with my son (he is now 3.5) for about 30 minutes then told him we needed to go and he ASKED to stay. This worked out much better since I had finally learned he needed time to warm up.

Sorry to hear your cruise wasn't magical!

We just got back from the 4 day Wonder. Overall, we had a great time, and I will definately look at our cruise as a great vacation experience. However, there were some things that weren't that great. My kids hated the clubs. I dropped my daughter off once to go to the wine tasting, came back 5 minutes later to give her something, and watched her wander around all alone for 5 minutes with no one paying any attention to her!! She had no idea what to do or where to go, and I didn't see one counselor try to help her!! When I dropped her off I specifically told them that she would need help to meet other kids, I guess they didn't hear me! Second, our stateroom was NOISY until midnight, so loud that I had to put a pillow over my head. (Rm 6545). Our closet door kept sliding open and slamming shut until I rigged it, and the safe didn't work. Stateroom attendent was so-so, barely talked, saw him once the whole time, but the room was nicely cleaned. Servers were also so-so, took forever to get a drink (drinks didn't come until we were midway through the meal!), and I felt rushed. Also, they pushed the whole bottle of wine thing way to hard, and seemed agitated that I didn't want any. They were great with my kids, and remembered what they liked every night. Family games were so-so, the family diso night was lame (they should have called it Simon says), and the two game shows that we went to weren't great. Elevators were always jam packed, lines for character greetings were miles long. The internet cafe is twice the price of other cruise lines. This may sound silly, but bingo prizes were about 1/2 of other cruise lines.
On the plus side, we loved CC, and we all cried at Disney Dreams, it was phenomenal. Loved who wants to be a Mousketeer, Hercules was OK. The whole time I was on the cruise I felt rushed, maybe it would have been different on a 7 day? Not sure if I would do DCL again. -Sue
