Our 4th of July, My Bday, 1st Time at OKW Trip Report (Updated 8/23 - FINAL UPDATE!!)

Great pics and review!! I was actually at MK on July 5th. Can not believe we missed John Travolta!!

Trust me, with the size of his group, it was hard NOT to miss him - it was like one of those brazilian teenager-sized groups!

Great pictures and very cool about seeing John Travolta at MK.

thanks!

Nice to see (hear) John T.& Kelly P. are having fun.:goodvibes

I agree... From news reports, they've gone through a lot. i hope too that they have a relaxing vacation.:thumbsup2

Agreed! :thumbsup2

Monday, July 6th

Parks Visited: MGM & Epcot
Meals: Pizza Planet (lunch) and Cape May Clambake (dinner)

Monday was another early entry day at MGM. We started off doing our usual toy story mania rope line dash but once I met up with Melissa after getting our first set of fastpasses, we found out the ride was down. We waited for like 5 minutes before heading over to RnRC. We ended up doing RnRc three times in a row before 9:05 am (the third time using the single ride line), when we got our next set of fastpasses for TSM (and this was all with both toy story mania AND tower of terror being down!! :rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2:) After we got the fastpasses, we decided to head over and see Muppetvision 3-D, which had a 5-10 minute / one show wait. Once we were done seeing Kermit and the gang, we headed back to the front of the park and saw on the tip board that tower was now open. I went and did that once (with like a 30 minute wait) while Melissa did the single rider line at RnRC twice. We met up once I got done riding tower and together we did the single ride line at RnRC one more time. From there we walked across the park to Pizza Planet for an early lunch. We “discovered” pizza planet on our may trip as a counter service place we actually liked so we decided to hit it up again. Once we were done eating, we went over and used our two sets of toy story mania fastpasses. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to beat my old high score, this time I only got scores in the 130K & 150K range. :confused3 By this time, we were getting reaaly hot, so we left the park around 12:30 and headed back for our usual afternoon of going to the OKW pool and then a nap.

Here are a couple MGM pics (sorry, looks like I wasn’t my usual picture-taker that morning!):

COMING UP - OUR LAST NIGHT AT WDW

July 6th (cont.)

After driving over from OKW to BCV, our last night at WDW started with dinner at the cape may clambake. When we ate at the clambake in May, they were experimenting with adding crab legs, but the “experiment” had ended long before we came back in July. The meal was good as always :thumbsup2 and even better, not crowded at all!:cool1::banana: After dinner, around 7 pm or so, we walked over to Epcot and rode Soarin’ twice in a row using extra “any date” fastpasses I had. Melissa decided she didn’t want to do test track, so she went over by the international gateway bridge and got a spot for illuminations while I did test track using the single rider line (which actually had a line for a change!). :confused3 I then walked back over found where Melissa was sitting and then got us a grand mariner slushie from france. From there we just people watched until it was time for illuminations. Maybe 10 minutes before the show, two or three groups of Brazilian teenagers came over right in front of us in a roped off viewing area, so it was fun to watch them. Once the fireworks were over, we came back home to OKW and headed over to the main pool. I went down the slide once (not at all gracefully I might add) :rotfl2: and then after a while at the pool, we called it a night.

Here are some pics from that night, including one of my favorite pics of beach club!

COMING UP - SPENDING (LITERALLY) MY BIRTHDAY AT THE MAGIC KINGDOM!

Tuesday, July 7th

Parks Visited: Magic Kingdom
Meals: Crystal Palace (brunch)

On my birthday, we headed over to magic kingdom for early entry. For the most part, we packed up the night before, so we drove over to MK with our suitcases packed so we wouldn’t have to waste time going back to OKW. We got to the park a bit early so I could get my free $75 birthday gift card (since we already had annual passes, I didn’t need a ticket). Turns out the process was pretty easy. :thumbsup2 Here are some opening pics:

At opening, we got fastpasses for big thunder, but once again, it didn’t really help us b/c it was for 10am and we would be done riding by then. We did splash once and got socked so we called it a day for splash. We next rode big thunder together once. I went to go on it a second time, but right before I got on, someone apparently stood up on the ride, so that supposedly had to reset the whole system, so no ride for me! :rotfl2: (I did get a universal fastpass though). We ended up next going to the Hall of Presidents for its first 9am showing so we could set closer and see the new Obama figure close up , as we didn’t think (and still don’t) that it really looks a lot like him. We tried to get into the xmas shop to use my gift card on ornaments (we have a disney-themed tree), but it didn’t open until 10am, so we went over to crystal palace and got in early for breakfast/brunch. Here are some character pictures:

Once we were done eating, we headed back over to the xmas shop and picked up the ornaments we had spied earlier (except one which was missing for some reason and I couldn’t find). After that, we still had some time to kill, so I did big thunder twice while Melissa went down main street and got the cookbook she wanted. After that, we left the park. It took awhile for the monorail to get to us (it had started working I believe a day or two after the accident) so I started to get worried about making our flight time, but we made it without any problems and got home safe and sound.
