Holiday April 9th 2007-April 23rd.

Tuesday 10th April. ANIMAL KINGDOM

Im sure most of you have had one of those nights that seem to last forever, where you keep waking up and looking at the clock, that was the night I had, my mind was on overdrive :rolleyes1
The last time I looked at the clock it was 6am, time to get up. DH and I got ready first then the girls woke up. I always get everybodys clothes ready for the next day the night before, I find it a lot easier that way. 7am we left the room and went down to Everything Pop for breakfast and to fill our mugs. We left Pop at about 7.30am and drove to Animal Kingdom for 8am opening.

It was still abit cool and the sun was behind the clouds. I forgot to mention when we arrived in Orlando it was raining and had been raining for most of the night.
Mickey, Minnie and Pluto arrived on the bus to open the park. As soon as it opened DH went to get FP's for Experdition Everest, the last time we were here they were building it.The girls and I went to Dinoland, they rode Triceratop Spin twice and Primeval Whirl, I walked around taking photos.DH soon turned up FP's in his hand so we headed of to Dinosaur, everything at this point was a walk on.

Our time window had already come up for EE, well what an experience that was!! The girls and DH loved it, I did to it was great, untill the big drop. OMG I closed my eyes, held on tight and screamed all the way down :rotfl: when I got off I had to sit down and recover, whilst I did that the other 3 went straight back on it, the stand in line was only 10 mins long. they really enjoyed it.

We were doing really well for time and at 2pm we had an ADR for The Rainforst Cafe. It was great we had a lot of fun and the food was lovely, I would eat there again. I had Pot Roast, DH had Vegi Burger and Fries, DD Chloe had Pizza and DD Ellie-Mae had mac 'N' Cheese.

It was just after 3pm when we finished and it was chucking it down with rain, we had a look around the shop and had a think about what we were going to do. We decided to see if we could catch the next show of Finding Nemo it was about to start in 20 mins, so we ran around to Nemo only to find it full  .The 4pm jungle parade was going to be starting soon as well but we didnt fancy standing in the rain watching it. So after a bit of thought, Epcot I said we'll go to Epcot, there plenty to do at Epcot on a wet day. So off we went battaling against the crowds in the rain trying to get to the Exit. We arrived at Epcot (still raining) and walked straight on Spaceship Earth.
We then went to Imagination and enjoyed Journey into Imagination with Figment, Honey I Shrunk The Audience and Imageworks. We had a photo taken of the girls and put on a crystle cube with Mickey and 2007 on.We then went to The Land and rode Soarin, really cool and watched the Circle of Life. By this time it was getting dark and we could here rumbles of thunder, we decided it was time to leave. Chloe said she was really tired and loved going to sleep in the car when it was raining and dark and asked DH if he could get lost so she could have a long sleep, she got her wish!! the rain was lashing down that hard we couldnt see where we were going the wipers wouldnt go fast enough and lightning was flashing all around us, it was quite frightning really, we soon managed to get back on the right road and arrived back at The Pop just after 9pm. We sat in the car for about 10mins waiting for the storm to pass. The girls woke as soon as DH turned the engine off. Chloe hates lightning and was started to get worried. It started to pass and the rain started to slow down so we made a run for it. We got back to the room and got ready for bed. We were all in bed just after 10pm. Although it rained we still had a fantastic day, a great start to our holiday.

Really enjoyed your report, thanks for sharing it, Sharon. I am just the same on the first morning in Orlando, waking up every hour! You got loads done on your first day. I love thunder storms but the ones in Orlando can be very frightening :scared1:

We've planned on AK for our first day there (first trip as well!) I did wonder if we'd done the right thing as a lot of people like MK for their first day. Great report.

Thanks for your reply guys. AK is a great first day park, have you made any ADR's or are you going to make any for your 1st day Wendy? :goodvibes
