Hi all!!!:yay:

Welcome to the Walton's family vacation 2008. This is our 2nd Disney cruise. The first one was May 5 - 12 2007. It was called the Cinco Dis Mayo cruise.

Anyway, I'm a very novice writer and I just wanted to share some of my experiences and advice.

1st of all arriving early this trip has been a MAJOR blessing. We left KY Wednesday night around 7:30 drove to the FL state line. Family tradition has it that we nap there for an hour or so until they open and get their OJ sample and a handful of brochures. We went to the Millenia Mall in Orlando (another family tradition) to go to Bass Pro Shop, Sheplers, Steve & Barry's, Ron Jon's and the cheap Disney store. Then we drove over to the port and checked into the Radisson at the Port.

Timing things this way gave us a whole extra day to catch up on sleep and enjoy the port area. We also were able to see the Wonder for the first time:thumbsup2

2nd - packing separate luggage for your pre-cruise stay is a good idea. I had 2 bags, a Friday bag and a Saturday bag.

3rd - We went to Grill's at the port to eat which I had heard about here from Disboards. Don't get me wrong the food was good, but I think overpriced for what you got and I just wouldn't go there again. Didn't do much for me at all. Not that there was anything wrong with it, but it just wasn't that great.

4th - We went to Kelsey's Pizza by the Radisson :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Awesome pizza and reasonable price. We just walked over because its so super close.

5th - There is a Wal-Mart right up the road. Turn right out of the parking lot and go down to the 520, I think it's about 4 miles down the road. They had reasonable Disney shirts, sunscreen and Florida souvies.

6 - This is our 2nd time staying at the Radisson. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 We have a really nice room and my db has a suite. Both rooms are very nice. Nice pools, hot tub, Koi pond, waterfalls, service.... We had the toilet overflow last night and within 5 minutes of my call I had 3 people show up. One was from maintenance and one from house keeping. I dunno about the third. They fixed, cleaned and disinfected within a matter of minutes. No further problems today. I was very pleased with their service.

7 - At Ron Jon's they have these bins that spin and hold lots of stuff like ink pens, key chains, etc. Anyway, on the bottom there are these money/key holders that go around your neck and they are waterproof. I LOVE mine!!! Great for Castaway Cay or any other beach to hold your money and room keys. They are $5.99 each and come in 2 sizes and various colors.

8 - Have fun and relax. Obviously since we are here we are all serious "over planners" with an immense love for a giant rodent. At some point you have to turn that switch off and just wing things. It is a vacation after all.

Well...we board in the morning. I will update this as soon as I get back.

More tips/advice to come. If you have any questions about current stuff or anything, shoot away.

Disclaimer - :flower3: Thanks to all those in the past who took the time to write the trip reports that have made my Disney vacations so wonderful.

I'm so excited for you! I hope the rest of your trip goes just as smoothly! Have FUN!!!

We arrived back at home late last night. So I am catching up on MASSIVE loads of laundry today.

I'll try to post things as I can.

Definitely pack a variety of motion sickness pills. Our seas were VERY rough, like 14 feet or so waves. None of us ever got "sick" but we were passing around the motion sickness pills like trick or treat candy. :lmao:

I'm going to try to put this report together in a better format, so I will return later with more.

If you have any questions, ask away.

I HATED our dining rotation!!!

We ate in Parrot Cay 6 times :scared1:

Our rotation (which was printed incorrectly on everyones room key) was LAPPLAP

So counting:
1 Embarkation
2 Character Breakfast
3 Regular dining rotation
4 Regular dining rotation
5 Regular dining rotation
6 Final breakfast
blah blah blah boring!!!

Yes we were able to dock both times, but the weather was yucky in the mornings but cleared off by 11ish to sunny skies. The 1st day it rained hard around 2ish and ran everyone back to the ship.

We were not able to tender in Grand Cayman and switched to Key West.

Well I hope your cruise did more than ours did. DISNEY ruined Halloween for my kids. I wish we had never went. 1 hour of trick & treating and a costume contest was it for the kids. Oh but the adults had a big costume party that night but you know they were buying booze so Disney had a reason to keep it going. We were very upset the events for Halloween that we will probably not cruise with Disney again. When i think of Disney i expect and pay for excellence and over the top celebrations. Disney failed in both aspects.
Oh and who ever posted the line-up of events on these boards a few months ago flat out lied Disney didn't do crap!!! Oh and people were caught having intercourse in the hot tub and it took Disney 30 min to get security up there to correct the situation. this happened more than once. and they have jacked up the prices on the boat. THIS TRIP WAS CRAP AND I WANT MY MONEY BACK. I MAY TRY CARNIVAL NEXT!!!!
WE USED TO BE BIG DCL FANS CRUISING EVERY TWO YEARS BUT THIS LAST CRUISE WAS AWFUL!

DISNEY WONDER 2004
DISNEY MAGIC 2006
DISNEY MAGIC 2008 (WORSE TRIP EVER) WE NEVER GO BACK TO DCL AGAIN!!!

Can I ask which cruise you were on Magic/Wonder and the sail date, just out of curiousity.

I agree, the adults had more fun than the kids.

The trick or treat stations did not give out alot of candy (in my opinion) and they did everything the day before Halloween.

There definitely wasn't enough "magic" on board to get me to book again and definitely not for Halloween.

I had a great cruise too!

I'm the daredevil of the family, I loved the rock n rolling high seas! LOL

I think our rotation (also wrong on our KTTW cards) was PLAAPLA. DH, DS, DD, and I wore black and white for formal night, so Animator's Palette worked out great for us that night!

We had a great cruise (Oct 25 - Nov 1) as well. I loved visiting Key West. This was a cruise for suprises and where you literally had to roll with the punches.

Our rotation (also wrong on our KTTW card) was APLLAPL. We showed up in PC the first night, just as our card said. Got to have two pieces of banana bread before they kicked us out.

We were in Lumiere's for formal night, which was very elegant.

Okay. Hold up...my thread about my cruise. Take this argument somewhere else or I'll have this closed.

Welcome to America everyone. We are all entitled to our opinions, but this was my thread and I prefer no negativity. Disney obviously does something for all of us or we wouldn't come here numerous times daily. :rolleyes1

Happy thoughts only everyone.:grouphug:

I can understand that someone can have an issue with Disney. I havef ound, however, that they generally try to make things right. Our friends' cabin flooded on the 11/1/08 Magic Western cruise. The crew drycleaned all their clothes, moved them to a different cabin, bought us all a round of drinks at Palo, and gave them a credit.

If you have complaints take them to Guest Services during the cruise, when they can help you. Complaining after the fact doesn't get much.
