Today is a sad day, check-out day. We eat breakfast at Mara, then stop in the gift shop for a few last minute items. We're in the car by 10:45 am.:( :( :( Pouring rain again, headed to West Palm Beach for 3 nights.

I was really grateful to stay here again, for such a great rate. It was a very rainy, chilly week, but I still enjoyed touring the resorts, shopping, eating and taking the time to enjoy AKL. I fell in love with the Polynesian and the Cape May Clambake. My only regret is that I saw some lime green ribbons and was too scared to say anything. I was always very shy and would have loved to talked Disney with you guys. I enjoyed writing these reports very much and thank anyone that takes the time to read them. I'm putting a Restaurant Review on those boards, if anyone is interested. Thanks again!!

You should have stopped a lime green ribbon - there was a bunch of us there at this time - I am always willing to talk Disney with a fellow Disney nut - thanks for posting!

Now I say.......so what......these people I wont;' see again...I saw pandy and Tony when we were at disney.......I love the chance meetings.....I am anxious to read your food reviews......thanks so much for taking the time to do these reports.......they are good ones to read

Thanks so much for your posts, I really enjoyed reading them. I am looking forward to my trip in a short while.

Forgive my ignorance, but what are the lime green ribbons?
I am new to this list though an avid Disney addict.

Thanks,

Marla and Pumba- Thanks for your kind words!

BigTigg'r- I'm glad you enjoyed my reports and I hope you have a magical trip, too. The lime green ribbons are worn by members of these boards ( The DIS ) to let other DISers know they are members. I also put lime green ribbons on my luggage to spot it very easily at the airport.

Thanks for your reports. Sorry to hear about the rain. When we were there in June, it also rained everyday.Kind of put a damper on the trip. We are staying at AKL in May. We are splitting our trip with the poly. I have never seen either resort.Just wondering your take of both. Which looked better for the pool?? Which one do you think you would stay at first?? Thanks..amy

Corvair- I really like your 2 resort choices. They are both gorgeous, but for different reasons.
AKL is only about 2 yrs old, so everything still looks very new. I like the bunk beds because I have a girl and a boy, so that works great. The savanna views are amazing from many areas throughout the resort, so it's fun just walking all around. I like the gift shop and Mara, the food court. Did Boma's last year and it was very good, even for picky eaters. I also like that everything is in one building which was a godsend with all the rain this year. The pool area is very nice and large. My kids, 13 and 8, love the slide. It's 3 1/2 feet at the bottom of the slide. I love the hot tubs, they are sooo nice. There is a nice pool bar, too. Bus service is exceptional and you don't share with any other resort.

Polynesian was beautiful. I loved the lobby, so tropical. There was a nice gift shop and of course, you're on the monorail. I thought the pool was awesome. There is a long slide that I believe is partially enclosed and some nice waterfalls. I noticed a pool bar, too. The boat ride to MK was so relaxing. I loved the walkways and the sandy beach areas with the swings, I could have spent the whole day on one of those. You could see the castle, GF, Contemporary, what views!!

I liked the Polynesian pool better for its slide and waterfalls, but AKL for the size and hot tubs.

I'd probably pick AKL first, followed by Polynesian, but not for any special reason. I hope you have a magical trip!! Enjoy!!:D

Patio, thanks for the info. Every time I think I am set on Poly some one writes something bad about it.. I am set on Poly now... Just need to decide which one first... thanks again for your time...amy

I really enjoyed reading your trip reports. It's fun to read someone else's perspectives as I was there the same time you were - and boy, wasn't that weather lousy!!! :( But at least we were in Disney World!!!! :smooth:
