Our 1st trip home as DVC members...Part 14...The Big Fight!

Tuppermom,

There are two or three more installments coming, and then the trip will be finished!

I hope to post in the next day or so.........

I just stumbled upon these reports myself and must thank you. I've heartily enjoyed the laughs ("What NOT to say to a Customs Agent"), empathized with the sorrow (my mom passed away last year from cancer and I'll be taking my dad as my travel buddy this year, we both remember the pain my mom suffered trying to enjoy Disney last March - 3 months before she died; while we'll be happy sharing our Disney trip, there will be touches of sorrow) and shared the chagrin of rude strangers.

(Side note: I was waiting in line for the ferry from MK last year. I use a power wheelchair, so after the lines started to move I and the stroller people were instructed to condense into one small line on the left. That meant 10% of the crowd, non-wheeled folks, boarded first, many having just walked right up and on the boat. The rest of us had to wait for the 2nd or 3rd boat. Two very tired ladies spent the entire wait time bickering and complaining about having to wait so long while others skipped ahead. I had purchased a light-up Mickey wand at the Philharmagic, knew it was the happiest place for me despite the chilly night, so I ended up entertaining the ladies' children with their own private light show. By the time our line finally moved, I had about 7 kids under my enchantment. None cried, none were antsy, and all were amazed, including me. Meanwhile their bickering mothers made themselves miserable. Oh well.)

When you finish, consider putting your story in a website with photos. It makes a great Disney memory.

I'm going to take a different tack. I think that the words were appropriate. At the time you felt concern for the safety of your son and that he could be hurt. I have no doubt that nobody would intentially harm the child but the trains do get extremely crowded and if somebody was backing in, it is very easy to miss a small child. Accidents do happen. The words grabbed everybody's attention and quickly resolved the problem with the child not getting hurt. I do think a thank you afterwards would have been appropriate with the comment that you hope that everyone can appreciate your concern for your son's safety and that no offense was intended. I don't think the incident rated getting beyond that.

well your trip report did this! I enjoy your writing and have read your reports as they come along. I was doing the dishes last night and as I was cleaning out the loaf pan from my famous meatloaf, I thought of your words. I was visualizing the ground beef congealing in my veins. Yikes!
Isn't it funny how some things just "stick"? I think that will be with me for a long time. I think it will definately help me with dieting...as I would love to lose about 30 pounds.
I enjoyed your trip report, (and can totally relate to Sis' nap time right now having a 16 mo.) and look forward to more!
Thanks :rotfl:

I think that these trip reports are lovely. Thank you for sharing. You sound like a very good Mom to me.

Waiting for the next one...... I'm being as patient as I can .... honest I am!!!! :rolleyes1

lol...I also think she is a very good mom as people go...she is a very average mom that thinks her children are the most important human beings in the world...don't we all?

I was just suggesting that maybe we all could be a little more considerate of ALL the other people that are packing the monorails at that time of night, whether or not they are "backing into" the car... I LOVE her reports. I also think that we can be more considerate of each other...that was my message.

I love trip reports but with all the time I spend sitting at the computer, usually I print them out for reading later on. Saves my eyes plus it lets me dream of Disney by bringing the Dis with me to the sofa or the train whilst on my way to work! That said, I've now copied and pasted my little heart out and this report is 60 pages long! Yay :goodvibes !!

I was about to print it but thought best make sure the reviews are good first, and they are, so here goes! Cool there are some pictures in it too, I love pictures!! Can't wait to read it myself!

Kristina,

I had no idea this would be 60 pages long finished let alone at part 14!

I see you are living in Sweden- have a great trip to WDW!

I am sorry about the rude encounter, it made me sad. Your choice of words may have been unfortunate, but the lady knew she couldn't see where she was going. My response to you would have been to apologise and to make sure the child wasn't upset. Afterall, a child can get spooked very easily and an adult should be concerned about the child, not the choice of words. I have been reading your reports with great enjoyment and I hope this memory does not tarnish the wonderful joy your family recieves and shares from the magic at WDW.
