Our 1st trip as a family of three!----Update 11/3 Our Favorites/Trip Wrap-Up

When I last left off, we were busy meeting and greeting all the various characters that were out and about in Epcot. We finally made our way out of the park to enjoy our daily pool time. Apparently I was too busy enjoying the pool and hotel to take too many pictures so here are some online photos of the pool at the Dolphin that I found.

We usually had no problems finding a beach chair. Unless you wanted one of the chairs underneath the waterfall. There weren’t as many chairs there, so those tended to be all taken up.

Our little munchkin loved this pool as well. She loved swimming around in her little tube, the only thing she would avoid is that waterfall. So once we got in some good pool time, we showered and headed back out for a little drive.

Usually what we would do in the afternoon by this point is my husband would shower first and we’d get our little girl all ready to go also. He would then leave with her for a long drive in the car while I showered and got all the park bags ready for the evening. Then I would give him a call when I was all set to go and hop in the car. This way, she got a nice nap in before heading to the parks for a second time.

With most of our trips to WDW, we typically make it to AK only once during the entire vacation. I don’t know if it’s because it’s usually so hot there, or if it’s because we usually end up at Epcot or MK more, but this time around, I really wanted to make it to evening EMH. I had read some great things about the park in the evening on the DIS.

I just love the Tree of Life! I had hoped to explore the tree’s details up close and more in depth, but we never seemed to get around to it. Oh well, maybe we’ll get a chance our next trip!

I have to say that evening EMH at AK is not crowded at all. Not all the rides are open, but EE was. Since I didn’t get a chance to ride in on Saturday, we headed over that way to see if there was a long line. Imagine my surprise when I literally walked on!!! I could have ridden that ride over and over again if I wished. That was definitely a fabulous perk of EMH! :thumbsup2

After saying goodbye to the Yeti, we decided to just walk around the park and see what else was open. Before we left Asia, we stopped off at the Yak & Yeti counter service to grab a little snack to tide us over. I think we got a little container of the fried rice to munch on.

We continued on our way and soon stopped by to say hi to the flamingos.

Here she is trying to stand like a flamingo.

We started walking towards Dinoland since we actually hadn’t gone to that section of the park the other day. I was hoping that since I had such great luck with EE, I might get a chance to ride on Primeval Whirl just as easily. Alas, the wait time still said 30 minutes and I wasn’t willing to wait that just to ride it by myself.

However, since we were in the area, our little tyke started talking about the flying triceratops. Would she actually go riding on the AK’s version of Dumbo? She seemed quite excited by it…from afar. Once we got closer and had parked the stroller, she lost her courage. She started hesitating more and more, so my husband decided to try another tactic. There was barely a wait, so he hopped on the ride himself to show her it wasn’t that bad.

Waving hi to us from his dino car.

ry%3D400

Showing us that he’s having a great time on the flying dino.

ry%3D400

Making faces at us from his dino. I’m sure he’ll hate me posting this pic…..

Our little girl making faces after seeing Daddy make the face.

ry%3D400

Pretty, isn’t she? Haha. :rotfl:

Even after watching her dad go up on the ride, this was still the closest she would go to a triceratops.

ry%3D400

I guess that ended up being okay since my husband said it actually went pretty fast and she would probably have freaked out once she was on the ride anyways. Plus, our little one looked over across from us and saw that Goofy and Pluto were out for a meet and greet. Of course, she wasn’t one to pass up a character greeting.

Hugs for Goofy.

ry%3D400

Hugs for Pluto too!

She didn’t have her book out this time around since she had already seen them earlier in the trip.

After we said goodbye to the pups, we walked around a bit more. We also passed by Mickey and Minnie out together, but that line was super long so we managed to distract our little one as we passed them so that she didn’t see them. We were getting hungry again by that point so we decided to head out. It was nice to walk around AK and not be sweating buckets for once.

I think by this point in time it was close to 8pm and we hadn’t had a full meal in a while. We decided that since most of the other parks were also closing soon, we would eat dinner outside of Disney. We headed to Kissimee in search of a Red Lobster!

I was drooling just thinking of those cheddar biscuits and my husband just wanted a Sizzlers or a Red Lobster. Both of us grew up with dining experiences at both of these places, but now that we live in MA, there aren’t any near us. The closest Red Lobster to us is in CT. So while it may be a chain restaurant, we were still excited to eat dinner there.

I have to say, that this was one of our favorite meals of the whole trip! Not necessarily because the food was the best, although the cheddar biscuits did live up to my expectations. I think we had two baskets of them! It was the little things that made the meal so great to us. First off, we had one of the best waitresses we have EVER had. She was so polite and nice to us, and to everyone. She spent time at our table, never making us feel rushed. She filled our drinks without us asking, she played around with our little one to make her comfortable, and she even offered to pack up extra drinks to go for us if we wanted. Now, I know that may not sound like anything out of the norm, but she really did seem to go out of her way to make sure we were enjoying our meal. I have to also point out that my husband was in love with the sweet tea that they had there that night. He literally had 5 glasses of it. Both of us walked out thinking the same thing – she had been a great waitress.

We headed back to the hotel after that. It’s always nice to have an “early” night every once in a while when at Disney. Plus, we were stuffed to the gills after dinner.

Up Next: Time for Playhouse Disney!

I have never made it over to AK for PM EMHs, sounds like a great time to go.

I've been to AK when it wasn't hot before, but it was in December, any other time of year that I've been it's been sweltering!

Yum! I love those cheddar biscuits from Red Lobster. I actually have a knock off recipe that I make, they're pretty close to the real thing. I haven't made them in awhile but you've made me hungry for them so they may have to be on the dinner menu one night this week :thumbsup2

It sounds like a really fun evening! I'm so glad you found the crowds small at EMH :thumbsup2

Your update has me very excited for AK EMH in Sept! We'll be doing PM EMH our first night!

I ADORE:love: the pictures with Pluto and Goofy!
And some cheddar biscuits to round out the night sounds perfect!
Sooner - you must post that recipe!!!

Hi Ann!

I finally got all caught up on your TR! :thumbsup2

OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS--your little girl is absolutely ADORABLE! I'm pretty sure I had the hugest smile on my face just reading your TR and seeing all of her happy pictures. She is precious! :cutie:

I started taking notes about all of the things I wanted to comment on--and it's about a page long! So I'll try to make this quick...

Your family is beautiful! I love the family pics you were able to get. I can tell you all had an amazing time together. How fun that you caught the MK parade so many times without even trying! The pic of your munchkin knocking on the door at TT is so sweet--I love how kids see things so differently. The first picture of her with her Annie doll is PRICELESS! And I love that she carried her all over--and even taught her to slide. :cutie: All of the character pictures are SOOO cute! You and your hubby will never forget her excitement at seeing the characters. When I was 15 and my sister was 5, we went to WDW for her first time and so much of the trip was spent finding signatures. But I know my parents wouldn't have traded it. I love that you and your hubby let her pick what she wanted to do during the trip! Your matching outfits were adorable on the 2nd day! And she looked so tiny in the 1950 at POP! Hehe--the rollercoaster slide pic is great! The picture of you and your hubby kissing both of your princess' cheeks at MK is one of my favorites! Oh--and if you really want to stay at the Contemporary next time, you can rent DVC points and save a ton! :thumbsup2 Aw, how great to get her first haircut at WDW! And she was such a brave little girl. I had no clue they had a dance party at EMH at DHS! HOW GREAT!! I hope they still have it (or something similar) when we take our little ones someday. Your pics of AKL make me want to be back there so badly... And the "movie date" is so sweet. That's hilarious that she was even fixing her skirt. The Tink pose picture is SO cute--and so is the one with Senor Donald! How sweet that she keeps reminding you that she forgot about Aladdin and Jasmine--I'm betting she'll get their autograph next time. And the flamingo stand picture is another one of my favorites. Oh--and I love all of her sunglasses too!!

I could probably commented on almost every picture--your little girl is just TOO CUTE!

I'm excited to actually be all caught up so I can read the rest of your TR as you write it!

Sounds like you had fun at AK EMH! I LOVE that picture of your DD standing on one foot like a flamingo. SO funny!

I'll have to remember that triceratop spin is fast. DS does not like fast rides right now.

I love that your favorite meal was red lobster. I've never eaten there, but cheddar biscuits sound delicious!

The picture of your little girl posing like a flamingo is just too cute for words.

AK looks beautiful at night and walking on EE was sure an added bonus.

I also love the cheese biscuits at Red Lobster, last time we ate there it was my fav part of the entire meal:goodvibes

The crowds were definitely light at AK, and it was nice and "cool" for that week. I enjoyed walking around and looking at things. There were a lot of stores and attractions that were closed or done for the day, though.

I love those biscuits from Red Lobster! We went to one in CT the other weekend and it was basically just because of the biscuits. You'll have to post the recipe if you can so I can try them at home.

It sounds like a really fun evening! I'm so glad you found the crowds small at EMH :thumbsup2

Well, it mostly from your TR that I wanted to go to AK during the evening EMH. I'm glad we did because I got to ride EE with no wait! :yay:

Your update has me very excited for AK EMH in Sept! We'll be doing PM EMH our first night!

Oh, that should be fun to do! You guys can just walk right onto EE and ride it as many times as you want. I forget if you like that ride or not. The safari wasn't running, but we were there closer towards the second half of EMH so maybe it was still running a little earlier on?

I ADORE:love: the pictures with Pluto and Goofy!
And some cheddar biscuits to round out the night sounds perfect!
Sooner - you must post that recipe!!!

Thank you! I love those cheddar biscuits. They are soooo good straight out of the oven. I'm drooling now just thinking of them.

Hi Staci!

Thanks for reading it! I know you've had a busy summer. I love reading your blog. You guys are just too cute.

I'm glad my little gal could make you smile. Her enthusiasm at Disney definitely made the whole trip even more worthwhile. Reading your comments made me laugh since it was a commentary on pretty much the whole trip. haha.

We are thinking of getting her a little kids camera for her birthday this year because she is obsessed with pretending to take pictures and always grabs my digital camera to snap photos. So I am hoping she can bring it along to our next trip and then I really will get to see things from her point of view.

I thought of you guys when we saw that PP photographer at AKL. I just kept thinking of so many of my Dis friends during that trip. One day maybe we'll even manage to get half as many PP photos as you guys got. :rotfl:

I can see her being such a girlie girl at times. That "movie date" of hers was just the beginning. Apparently last month, while my BIL and SIL were babysitting her while we were at a wedding, she was cozying up to some older boys at a birthday party. She kept edging closer to them on a swinging bench until one of them pulled her up and she apparently snuggled up next to one of them and watched him play his Nintendo DS. I think we have our work cut out for us!

I'm glad you're all caught up. I'm almost to the end of my trip, but I'm glad your along for the ride. Thanks for reading!:goodvibes

She always cracks me up with the things she comes up with. Kids really do come up with the funniest things.

I think triceratop spin might go faster than Dumbo. And our other big lesson learned was not to start off the trip with Pirates of the Carribean, since I'm pretty sure that was the point in which the rides all became scary to her. She was perfectly content on the rides up until then.

We loved al of our meals at Disney, but it was funny that for some reason, the Red Lobster experience was just great. Then again, some chain restaurants also just seem better when you are on vacation.

Thank you! I thought it was funny. I'm sure AK as the sun is setting is even more amazing. I can just imagine some of the photos you could get.

Those cheddar biscuits are always my favorite part of any Red Lobster meal. I think I always fill up on them so I can barely eat the rest of my meal.

I'm glad I could finally catch up! And thank you--I love writing it! I'm going to do a couple more posts today. :thumbsup2

Haha--I literally wrote a huge long list about all of the things I wanted to comment on...there were just so many! You'll love having her pictures--and she'll love them when she gets bigger. My parents bought me a camera when I was two, and it's hilarious to look at the pictures I took. We did take a ridiculous amount of PP pics, didn't we?! Haha!

Oh my goodness--yes you do! But with a cute little face like that, why not use the charm? ;) You'll definitely have your work cut out!

Tony and I ADORE EE!!! I could ride it over and over again. Madison still isn't sure if she wants to try it. She doesn't like the fact that it goes backwards. I'd really like to walk through the real queue sometime. We're always just used the single rider line.

We'll hit up the Safari when we do AM EMH later in the trip. For PM EMH, I'd like to focus on EE and possibly Dinosaur. Were there any shows during PM EMH?

Love the autograph book! It's much better than buying one. It's cuter to have the name next to the picture of the character instead of just a blank sheet with the signature. I thought about making something like that, not the autograph one, but the passport for World Showcase. I think my brother would be more interested in that. If not, I think I'd have fun asking the CMs there to write something in their language and to get the stamp!

How adorable of your DD to try to stand like a flamingo!

Even though the tactic didn't work, it was really such a great idea for your DH to hop on the Triceratop Spin!

What a great waitress at Red Lobster! I love people who take pride in their jobs.

That pool at the Dolphin looks cool! :cool1: Evening EMH at AK sounds awesome, especially the idea of riding EE in the dark/twilight! :woohoo: Mmmmmm, I love those cheddar biscuits from Red Lobster, too!

Here ya go!

2 cups Bisquick
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
2 Tablespoons butter, melted
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder or salt

1. Heat oven to 450 degrees.

2. Mix together bisquick, milk and cheese until soft dough forms.

3. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.

4. Bake 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.

5. Stir together melted butter and garlic. Brush over warm biscuits.

I tend to add a bit more garlic, just because I like garlic and I also put some melted butter (a tablespoon or two) into the mix before I bake them.

I'm glad you're all caught up Staci! Although I have to admit, that summer's been busier than I had thought it was going to be so I've been a bit slow with the updates. I think I only have 2-3 days left to write about though.

I can't wait to see what pictures she'll come up with! She currently plays with her "Little Mermaid" camera that says "Smile! How beautiful" on it when you click. And she pretends to look at the picture. It's too funny. I can only imagine what will happen when she has one that takes real pictures.

We will need to keep an eye on our little flirt! :rotfl:

If you too love EE, you should totally be able to ride it over and over again during EMH. You'll even be able to walk through the regular queue if you want. I don't know if any of the shows were still going on during the evening PM. We saw Lion King on our regular day. I have heard that sometimes they are still on, though.

I think having a passport would be fun too. She was too young to get that concept this trip, but the autograph worked like a charm! She did enjoy getting her mask stamped in some of the countries. She plays with them now at home too. good free souvenir!

That pool at the Dolphin looks cool! :cool1: Evening EMH at AK sounds awesome, especially the idea of riding EE in the dark/twilight! :woohoo: Mmmmmm, I love those cheddar biscuits from Red Lobster, too!

The pool at the Dolphin was nice! I liked that it so big that you could walk around to a different section so it never felt crowded. I think she enjoyed the kids pool/spray area at the Pop more though. Riding EE in the evening was fun! Especailly as a walk on:thumbsup2

I think we are now entering the last few days of our trip. :sad1: Since we were staying at the Dolphin we had planned on taking advantage of the close proximity to Epcot and DHS on these days. Our mission today – to catch the Playhouse Disney show and meet Handy Manny. Even though our little girl got to dance with Manny at the EMH dance party, she was obsessing over the fact that he still hadn’t signed her book yet.

I think we just grabbed some breakfast items from the Picabu café downstairs to eat in the room while we got ready. Even though our little munchkin was up early every day, I don’t think we ever made it out to the parks in time to catch a rope drop show. We were always just a tad late. Oh well, that will just have to wait for another trip!

Once in the parks, we grabbed a list of the showtimes and headed straight over to the Playhouse Disney area. There was still about 15 minutes until the start of the show, but the line was already pretty long. Luckily, since it was morning, it wasn’t TOO hot waiting outside. There were plenty of things to keep our little girl occupied in line wile we waited. She alternated between watching the tv screens and watching all of the other kids around her.

When they finally opened up the doors and the line got moving, I was actually happy to see that we weren’t first in the line. That way, we ended up sitting near the back, not too close to the stage. We had great seats! I had read on the Dis beforehand that you didn’t want to get to close to the front or else you can’t see the puppets.

Here is a photo of our view and the castmember starting the show with the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse gang. Oh, and I think that would be my little munchkin’s hair in the side of the picture.

ry%3D400

The show was so cute! I loved how the set changed from one tv show/story to the next.

Next up was Handy Manny and his tools.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

And what little kid doesn’t like bubbles?

ry%3D400

Soon it was time to go on a mission with the Little Einsteins!

ry%3D400

I can’t remember how all the stories wove together. I was too engrossed in watching how excited our little girl was to see all of her shows “live!” Apparently we were celebrating Minnie’s birthday.

ry%3D400

All in all, a cute little show. Plus it’s in an air conditioned room, so that’s always a bonus! Once the show was over, we knew exactly what was on our agenda next. We needed to meet Handy Manny!

We headed outside and checked in with a cast member to find out exactly where Manny would be so we could get in the right line. I think we were third in line – score!

She was finally able to get Handy Manny’s autograph!

ry%3D400

I have heard that they are replacing JoJo and Goliath at the Hollywood & Vine character breakfast with Manny, so we may not have to work quite so hard next time.

Of course Manny can’t sign the book without a pen. I guess he forgot he had a pencil behind his ear.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

I wonder why Manny felt like he needed to keep his work gloves on? Maybe he’s afraid of all the germs he’s going to encounter meeting all the little kiddies? Or maybe he’s just always prepared to fix things just in case?

This photo is a little bit blurry, but I just had to post it since you can tell just how happy she is. So what if she’s hugging Manny in a slightly inappropriate way?

ry%3D400

A clearer shot of her inappropriateness.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

After she was all done hugging Manny’s leg, we skipped over to the next stall to see if we could meet up with Quincy. To recap, she had breakfast with June and Leo and later saw Leo and Annie outside this very same building. So the only Einstein that she was missing was Quincy.

Lo and behold – there was June and Quincy still waiting outside! Yay! So we quickly made our way over and ran for the line. Only to be told…..the line was closed because June and Quincy had to go take a quick snack break. Well, that didn’t go over so well with our little princess.

When we told her we had to come back a little later to see Quincy, the waterworks started. Now I will admit that our little girl is a master at crying. She can turn the tears on and off so fast, it’s amazing. My husband and I tried to calm her down and distract her, we didn’t want to create a scene or anything, but the next thing you know, the very same cast member pulled us over and said, “That’s okay, go ahead. We’ll close the line after you.” I was so relieved! Our little girl’s tears resulted in a little bit of pixie dust. While I was totally psyched, I was a little worried that this may later lead to our little girl trying to get everything with her tears. Who am I kidding? She already tries that on a daily basis.

So after that little bit of good luck, our little girl was running over to Quincy with her autograph book.

ry%3D400

Then she was hugging June again.

ry%3D400

Quincy was completing her autograph collection while she got in her hugs.

ry%3D400

With June and Quincy.

ry%3D400

Again, I love that the characters get down to the kids level.
