Day 3 of our vacation (minus the day it took to drive there LOL)
12/26
I had stayed up most of the night before after leaving MK after midnight... planning for the next day (right down to setting out the kids clothes, what we'd do, etc) to go to Epcot AT opening, etc- and my plans were to awake to the alarm clock at 6am for me- wake my husband up at 6:30 and the kids after that and have a quick breakfast and head out.
Well, I overslept. Remember at this point I had only 6 hours sleep in 3 days. And I overslept. The kicker is that my husband also overslept (come to realize I hadn't set the alarm right- I thought it was set- but it wasn't).
Guess what time I wake up? 10 am.
Yes, you read that right... my husband and kids got up around 7am, unbeknownst to me, and I slept and snored till 10am and no one woke me up. grrrrrrrr
And I was so tired that I couldn't even get angry at DH and just came downstairs and watched them playing with Christmas toys and fell back asleep on the couch! I though that Epcot (again, here's my WDW ignorance showing LOL) would be as packed as MK was the day before and thus felt going at noon would be stupid. We had park hoppers- and so I didn't want to waste days- and we had extra days on this trip (8 night stay with 5 day park hoppers) so I fell back asleep. I didn't do it on purpose though- I thought I'd lay there a bit and then we'd go do something else other than WDW! But no... I slept till 2:30pm!!! egads!
So then all I did was try to make reservations for La Nouba (we really like Cirque DuSoleil when it comes to Dallas, Tx. and didn't want to miss this one!) but alas, couldn't. The only reservations we could make was for single person- meaning we wouldn't sit together! But it was okay, I got over that quickly because we had reservations for a babysitter on NYE also (in addition to another night for us to go to LaNouba if we had been able to get reservations) and had plans to go to the Citywalk special on that night. So we decide to go eat..... at......
ConeyIsland Buffet! I highly recommend it. Okay so it wasn't the best food in the WORLD, especially if you have a sophisticated palate... but it was good, relatively inexpensive which is good for children that might or might not feel like eating once we get there and it was all you can eat lobster and crab legs (which we love- we go to Red Lobster or Joe's Crab Shack here atleast once a week- more often when I was pregnant. LOL) and it was well worth the price.
We stopped at a store that boasted Disney t-shirts 5 for $10 (but ofcourse that wasn't really the case- upon driving up we see "and up" under that sign LOL) and bought some souveiners cheaper than in the parks. I got the youngest a shortset my husband wanted to get her- although she hasn't worn it yet! LOL, pens, keychain, etc- and the cutest little plastic Mickey and Minnie backpacks for the kids... they fell apart pretty quickly- after our trip two of them were useless and only one undamaged- especially the zippers but they were only a $1 each!! Can't beat that! And that is when I decided they would each carry their own little backpack with some little things they got in there plus baggies of snacks -chips and cookies. they loved the idea! Girls got Minnie ones, son got a Mickey one.
Husband and kids were in bed asleep by 10pm and I was up on the phone reserving a dinner at Arabian nights for one night- Romano's Macaroni Grill another night. Remember... this was before I realized there were SO many nice places to eat at WDW! I hadn't had enough advance time to really check things out online and I thought it was all expensive counter service like we had seen so far at MK in our one day there. I was so stupid. LOL
I planned (again) our day at Epcot the next day... and got in bed really late again. But dear hubby had express orders to NOT let me sleep in again! LOL
