I've never written a trip report before but after reading everyone else's i thought it was only fair to share our trip highlights.

Some background:

This trip is our first time back to the world in almost 5 years and was anxiously awaited by all. It was made even more exciting because we were surprising my DD13's BFF by joining up with her family on her 13th birthday. The drama of keeping the trip from her entertained us all for months but especially my DD who did a good job pretending to be sad that they wouldn't see each other for weeks.:rotfl2:

The last two times we went to Disney we stayed at POR - Riverside in January of 2006 and at All Star sports with my mother in October of 2007. So we were a little stressed about going in August because of the heat and the crowds but since I'm now a teacher it's the summer or nothing and so we decided to make the best of it and head off in August.

The trip started out as us driving from New Jersey and staying for 7 days but some airline and PIN code pixiedust: meant we got great deals and were able to fly down and extend our trip to 10 nights to take advantage of using our frequent flier miles for the trip. We chose ASMu because as a family of five our options are limited and we decided 2 rooms (and more importantly 2 bathrooms) was worth being in a value even though we were toying with staying at Wilderness Lodge or in the Fort Wilderness Cabins.

So with that said, here's the cast of characters:

DD13 - Our daughter who loves Disney, is willing to try anything new in terms or rides or food or whatever but definetely has her teenager moments when her brothers annoy her or if she thinks that she knows more about disney than I do (not possible by the way :rotfl:)

DS 10 (almost 11) - also loves Disney although he barely remembers it from the last visit when he was 6 and he took his first steps to Tigger in Mickey's Toontown back in 2002. He became an official preteen on this trip complete with attitude and general intolerance for anyone telling him anything.:rolleyes2

DS 9 - he is the main reason for this trip since he was only 4 the last time we went and he remembers basically nothing about Disney which seemed completely unacceptable considering how often my DH and I have been there. He's the baby of the family, silly and sweet and still wants to be carried when he's tired (which was often in the Florida heat). He also drives his brother and sister insane because he's ADHD :hyper:and tends to get distracted which means they have to wait for him which in their world is clearly the end of the world.:faint:

DH - he also loves Disney and even better accepts that I am the ultimate Disney planning guru in our family and doesn't question anything I decide. He is responsible for directing us around the park since I tend to get lost even when i know where I am. He was very worried about the heat since he remembers going with his family in July and hating it:sad:. But he decided to trust me that my planning skills would make it okay.:thumbsup2

Me - I :love:all things Disney and ever since my first trip with DH (then my DF) in 1993 I've been hooked. I'm also an over planner about my vacations since I don't want to have to make any decisions or stress once I'm there so I do everything possible ahead of time. Luckily my DH noticed that this planning pays off so he's learned to live with being asked about dinner reservations 6 months before we go .

When: August 3rd - 14th

Where: All Star Music
