OTU points and borrowed points....questions

Hello all,

We will be traveling to Aulani in May/June 2018. We will most definitely borrowing point to do so and may also purchase some OTU points. We'd prefer a standard view 1 bdrm, but based on current availability, we will likely reserve an island gardens view and then waitlist for the standard. I have two questions:

1. Re: borrowed points, if our waitlist comes through, and we need fewer borrowed points (UY 2019 points) than we would need for island gardens view, will these points have to be used in UY 2018 (the borrowed-into UY)? Or can they be used in UY 2019? Can they even be banked into UY 2020? Is it dependent upon whether we are in the 30-day window? (I should know this, but my brain isn't working this morning, and I've confused myself)

2. Re: OTU points, we are currently in our 2017 UY. We will be making our reservation in the next few days. The trip will be during out 2018 UY. We have already purchased 12 OTU points during the current UY, for use during the current UY (2017). If we purchase more for our Aulani trip (which will take place during 2018 UY), will we only be able to purchase 12 more (based on 2017 UY), or will we be able to purchase 24 (based on 2018 UY). I hope this is clear--it seems confusing, even as I write it.

Banking and borrowing are final transactions. Once you move the pts to a new UY, that is where they will stay. If you do not complete a stay in the villas by the end of that new UY, those pts will expire.

If you can free up current 2018 UY pts, then those can be banked forward.

I'm pretty sure you get access to 24 OTU pts with a new UY.

Just to make sure, what is your UY month?

Just wanted to make sure that we didn't get tripped up with calendar year and UY.
