While watching the DVC's DVD we found out that you can vacation at many other spots around the world using your DVC points.

How can you find how many points a specific destination will use. I haven't seen it mentioned on the points calculator.

Thanks.

Bump, my family would like to know as well, since they already have another timeshare in the II network & are thinking of buying into DVC.

If you are asking about the points required for the World Passport Collection (exchanges through Interval International), the points are set depending on the size of the unit you want and the season - low, mid or high. The destination resort determines the season. Here are the points needed for low/mid/high season:

1-br: 124 / 144 / 160
2-br: 207 / 252 / 270

Here's a link to the Resort Directory for DVC exchanges via II:

DVC Resort Directory

You may enjoy seeing the available exchanges.

The points required for the resort exchanges available in the Concierge Collection, the Disney Collection (includes the Disney Cruise Line and non-DVC Disney resorts), and the Adventurer's Collection may be found on the Members' Website.

Are those points standard, or do they vary? Also, there are exchange fees that apply, right? We trying to figure out if we want to buy into DVC or so the info you provide will be most helpful!

CarolMN, Thank you for that link.

You mean all of those resorts in that link are part of DVC. I'm amazed!!

Well, those are the resorts within the II system that DVC will allow you to request. Assume you know that doesn't mean you will be successful in getting a trade - that depends on the number of deposits owners of your desired resort make for the dates you want and the number of other timeshae owners who want the same thing and have equal or better "trading power". The earlier you request, the better your chances.

Thank you for your help CarolMN. I appreciated it.

Not sure what you exactly mean by "standard". The point requirements I listed are what you'd give up for any trade that you accept right now. They could change - there is no guarantee in the contract that says they will stay the same.

Previous to this "set number" method, DVC would actually reserve a week at one of the DVC resorts (not necessarily yours) and that is the number of points you would be charged for a trade.

If you plan to trade ffrequently, DVC may not be right for you - there are less expensive timeshares out there with equal trading power. Many who want to trade, buy fewer DVC points and something else for trading. For example, if you only wanted to visit DVC every other year, you could just buy 1/2 the number of points it takes for your trip and use the banking and borrowing features.

Those who are interested in trading will find lots of good info in the posts that Dean makes - Do a search and get ready to read! They also will find the info at www.tug2.net to be of interest.

Best wishes -

P.S. Yes, there is a fee for any trade you accept. AFAIK, the poster who said it is $95 is correct.
