We're heading down for a longer trip this time and have some "down days" to do other things besides theme parks and Disney. Can you recommend something you liked to do?

What malls are the best?

Any fun areas/things to do with kids (6 and 9 girls) that won't cost me a fortune?

What do you like to do when you're not at the parks or relaxing by the pool at the resort???

Thanks!

I always enjoy visiting Ikea. All kinds of stuff in there, plus its a great place for a nice, cheap meal. Ikea is next to the Mall at Millenia, home of many upscale stores if that is more your thing.

I hit all the outlet malls, even though most of the stores aren't true outlets :goodvibes There are some good finds in them. I also do the Mall at Millenia and occasionally the Fl Mall.

Below is a link for shopping in the Orlando area

If you feel up to driving, you can drive to either of the coasts and hit a beach, or maybe the Kennedy Space Center. There is also Gatorland...here is their link.

I can recommend Showcase of Citrus, an orange grove where you can pick-your-own or buy what's already picked. They also have a Swamp Buggy Tour. :lmao:

And we give great big :thumbsup2 to Spirit of the Swamp airboat tours, not far away S of Kissimmee. We ponied up for the 2-hr tour, but they will run 30-min and up. The ride is private to your party, so you have Captain Harold all to yourself. He'll answer all your questions about the land and the wildlife you see. We saw all kinds of birds, including bald eagles, and several gators!!

For shopping, we only hit the Prime Outlets and Orlando Premium Outlets, because there are Disney outlets at both. ;)

Have fun!!

We loved M&M World next to Macy's in the Florida Mall. It was a great change of pace. It is a huge store with everything M&Ms from clothing to collectibles and of course, M&M's.

We are taking our girls 6 & 9, for a week in June. We are only doing one park so I have been working on a list of some free/cheap things we might do that I found on-line.

FREE & CHEAP THINGS TO DO/SEE WHILE IN ORLANDO

Downtown Disney Marketplace: Here you can visit the World of Disney, the biggest Disney souvenir shop in the area. There’s no charge for looking and the shop is an experience in itself with Disney movies playing, princess accessories to try on, and animated Disney characters. Stop by the Lego Imagination Center and let your kids enjoy the free Lego building stations and nearby playground. Check out the huge Lego sculptures while you’re there, including the enormous dragon in the lake.

The trail is relatively flat and over 60 miles in length, so unless you’re going to be here awhile you’ll probably want to choose just a short portion. You can also canoe, picnic, bike, and swim here (watch for alligators). Fees may apply to some of these activities depending on which part of the forest you visit. http://www.stateparks.com/ocala.html

Tour the town of Celebration: This Disney-made town can seem a bit creepy (everything is just a little too perfect). Depending on when you visit, you may even see machine-generated falling leaves or snow. Stop by the farmers market on Sunday mornings or check out the many free events (author readings and signings) offered by Reading Trout Books.

You'll find more than 1,000 vendor booths selling clothing, home decor items, accessories, wall art, plants, jewelry, toys, shoes, weight-loss products, items as seen on TV and a plethora of other products that you might not realize you need until you see it at Flea World.
