My Family tends to travel to Disney at least once per year and sometimes my husband and I travel by ourselves for a quick trip or two. Can someone please tell me what kinds of benefits there are to being an AP holder. OR is it best to just keep buying tickets for the days we are going and hoping to stumble upon a great rate to stay at a WDW resort?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Denise :confused3

Well, I am saving $70 a night in Feb. on my room at Boardwalk with my AP. That $70=cost of an AP pretty quickly. There are also savings on food, through the dining card you can buy that gets you something like 20% off the bill at most restaurants in the World. There are also discounts on tickets to PI, DQ and many of the tours.

Esmeraldax is correct. Please let me add that you also get 10% off everything you purchase from the World of Disney and other DTD stores.

The AP cards are worth it to us. We are a family of 3 and travel with a few families each year to WDW. We do a 10 day trip, so buying the AP's helps us out. We also take advantage of the boating discounts and rental cars throughout the year for other family trips.

Thank you for the info. I really like the opportunity to get a discount on hotel room. By any chance, are there ever any great rates for the Polynesian? I would love to stay there some time, but even value season rates are beyond my reach at this time.

This year you will also get a discount of the MVMCP & MNSSHP tickets. They use to do that years ago & then stopped that discount & have recently brought it back...

Don't forget Cirque du Soleil discounted tickets for $54 at certain times during the year. Also, big discounts on miniature golf at Fantasia, etc. Disney Dining Experience card pays for itself after two or three uses!

Yes. You do. Which is why I NEED to stay away from that store... :rolleyes1

Do you think I can get the AP discount on my MNSSHP tix with just vouchers?
We have always had APs but let them expire this year, so couldn't renew, we had to buy new ones--so we only have vouchers right now. We will be there in 36 days, but I wanted to buy my MNSSHP tix now. Also, I was hoping for a discount on one of the tours we plan to take. Do you think they will do this since our passes are not activated yet? (will be the first minute we get there, LOL!)

Please know that room discounts are NOT guaranteed. There are many many people who are upset because disney currently changed the way they release discounts for AP holders and because no discounts at all covered a certain period in October. AP holder can sometimes get wonderful discounts. AP holders can currently purchase the Disney Dining Experience card for $50.00 giving them 20% off most sit down and some counter service meals, including alcoholic beverages. AP holders currently recieve small discounts at some disney stores. AP holders currently recieve a small discount at some restaurants at lunch time (mostly EPCOT rest.). AP holders currently get a small discount on water park passes and can park for free at the parks. None of these discounts are guaranteed past the first of the year, when new discounts are announced.

You can access the passholder site with the voucher #s. You can check from there, but I am fairly sure you can. I remember looking at the page, but didn't actually order--I got mine before I got the AP.

Thanks, I have been to the Passholder site with my vouchers already, but at the time didn't think about going through it to buy my MNSSHP tix, and certainly not the tour tix. I will try to use the site to buy the party tix at least later today.

In the past, we've received AP discounts at Polynesian from about $70-$100 off per night, depending on the season.

As far as other reasons to buying AP's.....well, we find that we enjoy our Disney vacation more than when we used to buy hoppers. Hard to explain, but with hoppers, we'd feel like once we activated a day on our pass that we had to go rambo style in the parks to get the most out of the day. With AP's, it's nice to know you have a whole year to use the passes and we find we take our time more and do things we normally wouldn't do if we had hoppers. For example, with AP's we sometimes stay at our resort for the day and then go to Epcot for dinner. If we had hopper passes, then we obviously wouldn't waste a day on our pass just for dinner. That's just our philosophy.
