We've booked GWL for Feb 11. If we drive there Sat, we would get in late. Where could we stay relatively inexpensively? Get up in AM, go get breakfast and mosey over to GWL? We haven't been to the Dells in over 10 years. I did try for a Mariott but after 20 minutes I didn't want to hold anymore. I only hold like that for CRT. Thanks. For my little prince's birthday.

I would do a search on Orbitz. Not sure where you are coming from, but check surrounding area in your direction. It may or may not be cheaper. i know there's a Days Inn around there. You should be able to find something for $50.

hey!! The dells are cool. DONT shop around there though, everything like uber expesive. Theres a hotel near there called the pine knot (i blieve) that is pretty good (we stayed there)

We love the Americinn at the Dells. It is not super cheap (about $100) but most of the cheap ones are pretty bad. We live a couple hours away and go to the dells often and you definately don't want to get into one of the dirty, disgusting ones ( and , unfortunately many of the budget ones have become just that). The Americinn has a nice pool and free breakfast with make your own waffles. It it pretty new and in excellent shape.

rates are usually way down in Feb. Have you looked on line or called the Dells convention Bureau for suggestions. I know people who have stayed at big waterpark hotels really cheaply in the winter, but perhaps only on weekdays. (I live in the Dells from May thru October). I left my Dells coupon book in the Dells, but it had plenty of 50% off coupons on hotels. That is at dellscouponbook.com. (It may go for half price at this time of yar) Best Western, Comfort Inn, Days Inn, New concord inn, Super 8, Travelodge are all ones without waterparks. there's also a reverwalk hotel 800 695 5395. The Wintergreen is a big one near the expressway that might not be as high priced.Nearby town is Reedsburg or Baraboo which might have lower rates, but I am pretty sure all rates are down for he winter.

Whenever we are passing through with the family (on the way to Rochester MN) we stay at the HO-chuck. Even though it is a casino it is a really nice hotel on the other side, DD loves the lobby. And it is realatively inexpensive and not far from the highway. (exit to Baraboo) http://www.ho-chunk.com/

Also by walmart there is a newer cheap hotel whose name is escaping me. Where are you coming from? If there is a Microtel on the way they are cheap and the 2 I have stayed in have been new and clean.

We just spent 2 nights at GWL in mid Nov for both my kids B-Days. Whan fun! If you haven't been there in 10 years prepare yourself to be amazed. Also, prepare yourself to WALK! It is quite a distance between their 3 separate waterpark areas but definitely worth it! Also, they have a b-day package (I think it was called the "Wild west pkg?" that includes room decorations, cake, party favors, candy, pizza and pop for 4 along w/coupons that can be used for their lazer tag or the arcade. They also decorate the room door before you get there. My kids (turning 10 and 13) thought is was very cool :cool1:
As far as price goes for the B-Day package its pretty much a break even deal and everything is ready when you check in!

I have never stayed anywhere but the waterpark resorts while in the dells but our family did stay at an AmericInn in northern Wisconsin (on the shore of Lake superior) this summer. For the price we were quite impressed. The free continental breakfast is always a nice extra. I would try to search the internet for a good deal...that is how we decided on the AmericInn...I found a good price over the internet. I hope you have a great trip! :goodvibes

Wis Dells isn't that spectacular, but Ho-Chunk is pretty inexpensive.

We have a lake house just north of the Dells so we go up that way quite a bit. The only hotel that we've stayed at is Ho-Chunk (only because they mailed us a coupon for a free stay). It was very nice. There is no pool but you can drive to the Wellness Center and use the pool there if you'd like.

There is a new outlet mall behind The Great Wolf lodge that has a Disney store in it. I got a great price on some summer jammies for my daughter when we were there in August.

I know that there is a Super 8 just off the highway as you head towards Ho-Chunk.

Here's a link that may help.

I noticed that you said that you will be coming up from the Chicago area. If you don't have an I-Pass, be prepared to pay double for the tolls.

Have a great time!

OOPS! After reading the last post I realized you are going to the Great Wolf Lodge, I thought you meant the "Wilderness Resort", WI Dells...Sorry! :guilty:

New Concord is usually inexpensive, clean and they do have nice swimming area with some slides. I believe all rooms have fridges and microwaves too.

We stayed at the Hilton Garden and it was pretty nice and under $100.
