Well I have just been outside to check our rain guage that is sitting outside in the garden and we have had 10 inches, that is 254mm of rain since this time last night! That is absolutely crazy and it's still bucketing down!

I hope all of the other SE Queenslanders are staying dry and staying safe and not being affected by this unbelievable rain!

Might be taking the :boat: to work tomorrow if this keeps up!

Can't believe Queensland is copping it again!

Stay safe!

Thanks Becpee.

Average rainfall for Jan is 159mm and we have had over 250mm today. They expect another 200mm + in the next 24hrs :scared1: If that is right, we will have had 450+mm of rain in 48hrs :eek:.

And it's not letting up until at least the weekend

Crazy!

I'm in beautiful sunny warm Waikiki at the moment and I just received a text from DS's school to say school is cancelled for today because of the rain. He now won't miss his first day back as everyone else will be too :rotfl2:

Hope it stops soon! And you enjoy some sunshine!

Thanks Kyl. I just emptied the rain guage again as it was overflowing from the rain last night. Still bucketing down

Oh I'm jealous :goodvibes I would love to be in Waikiki right now. Wow, your DS's school closing today, my DS's school only starts back today too, but I don't think they will close, there aren't really roads near that flood, but I have friends who have kids at schools where the roads are most likely flooded by now so I guess school will be off for them too.

Enjoy the rest of your trip in Honolulu :beach:

we're in brisbane and there are quite a few areas with localised flooding, including some houses that only just got done with repairs after the brisbane floods... half of my work wasn't in today as their streets were totally flooded in and some of the shops in my area had to close as they were flooding with water/debris.

it's horrible that this is happening almost one year later...

hope this rain lets up soon and we don't have any more issues :(

you guys sure have had your fair share of rain....thinking of you all.

Alicia, I was wondering how you have gone up in Bris today. Glad you haven't been affected

Down on the GC, my rain guage collected 23 inches (584mm) of rain in the 36hrs until the rain calmed down around lunchtime. It's good it's stopped but it's supposed to come back Friday

We have had lots of flooding down on the GC too, it was really scary doing the school run this morning, in this torrential rain, cars would flick bucket loads of water on the car from the other lane as they would hit a river on the road and suddenly I literally could not see a thing. Many schools closed too & shops with major leaks and major water damage. My son's class (first day back today), had a grand total of 5 students!

Thank goodness it's stopped. Hope you continue to stay dry :goodvibes

well the back yard is a swamp, and the walls inside the house are covered in mud as i stupidly left the windows open when i went to work, and a few of my work mates are still flooded in, but as i type this there is a hint of sunshine outside and no rain... they are predicting more for friday/the weekend, but for now, there might a be a small chance for some of this water to recede...

the weeds in my back yard have grown to knee height in the space of a few days and i'm not game to go out there yet without some type of wellingtons and foul-weather gear.

it seems the rainstorms are observing the australia day holiday.

omg the heat and humidity right now is stifling.. it's like sitting inside a sauna.

i've heard rumours of a thunderstorm this evening. for the sake of those with flooding issues, i hope it doesn't rain too much, but for the sake of the humidity and heat... i hope that it alleviates some of this terrible sweaty heat.
