OT - Washington Dulles Airport help

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone could give some info on Dulles airport. Is it hard to navigate around? I'm flying in Friday night on United which I believe arrivals are on concourse 'c'. Then I fly out an hour later on United which looks like concourse 'd' level.
Is this a big airport? I'm worried about getting lost and not getting to my next flight in time. 50 mins between flights.
Your help is appreciated...

Dh and I flew out of Dulles for an international trip last month. I found it fairly easy to find my way around the airport and we succeeded in not getting lost. There is a new underground tram service that is very quick and clean. They also have the old "people movers" that look a little strange (and imho they cram way too many people in them).

I guess it was the times that we flew in and out of there, but we found that the airport wasn't very busy during the times we were there. I think you should have enough time to get to your connecting flight (as long as the incoming flight isn't really late coming in.)

You should be fine at Dulles for connecting. C and D are one long terminal, connected by steps up (or down depending on which way you're going). It can be a hike if you're going from one end to another but you should be OK if your flight is relatively on time and you move quickly.

United is big at Dulles, and there should be a terminal map for it in the back of the magazine on board. When you check in for your first flight, ask them for your arrival and departure gates at Dulles and plot that on the terminal map. However do be aware that these can change, so make sure you check the departure board in the terminal after you deplane!

If you go to the Dulles website, imo the best map with gate numbers listed is the shopping and dining map.... you might want to check that out.

Edit - I assume you don't need to clear customs at IAD?

No we don't have to clear customs. We are driving across the border and flying out of Buffalo. I will print out that map you suggested....thanks.

It is a large airport, but very easy to navigate.I managed fine and I am directionaly challenged

when we lived in virginia we flew out of dulles around 4-5 times a year.

We had to walk from the far end of terminal C to the far end of terminal D once when they changed our gates. It took 10 minutes at the most.

It is just one long terminal extremely easy to navigate.

50 minutes is more than enough time IMO.
