Hi there,
I know this isn't about our beloved Disney (by the way thanks for everyone's help with my trip... It was FANTASTIC!!!)
We're considering going to Grove city Prime outlets for some shopping. Can anyone give me some advice as to whether it's worth going down there, where you would stay for a couple of nights (I have 2 young kids, so something reasonable but not luxury!)?
Any advice would be welcomed!
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

I've stopped at Grove City on my way to Washington, DC. I haven't stayed overnight so I can't recommend any places but I think there are a couple of motels which are across the street from the outlet.

I think clothing is tax free as long as it's under $200. I can't remember whether this includes shoes or not. But shoes in any US outlet mall are so much cheaper anyway. Some of my favourite outlet stores at Banana Republic, Nike, Cosmetics Company Outlet - they sell Estee Lauder, Mac, Stilla, Clinique... I also remember being able to get a coupon book at the customer service center when I showed by CAA card.

One thing I noticed about the Grove City outlets was that they were a little more expensive than another outlet that I hit closer to Washington. I went to the Coach outlet and one of the purses there was $200 at Grove City. At the other Coach outlet, it was $150.

Have fun shopping!!

We were there in Aug for back to school shopping. We bought lots of shoes.
Shoes are tax free also. Both kids and DH got some from the sketchers outlet. I got a pair of sandels for $5.00 at payless When I got home the same pair was on sale for $19.99. They had buy one get the 2nd half price at both sketchers and payless. I really like the VF outlet. Got 2 pairs of Lee jeans for $6.00 each.

If you are going to stay over night make sure you book your hotel room in advance. Both times I have been there, all the hotels were sold out. The last time was on a Wednesday and I did not expect them to be sold out.

We've been there too, but like Erie PA much better - stay on Peach St. just off the I90, only an hour and a half from the border. Lots of nice, inexpensive places to stay, especially during the week, and lots of indoor pools for the kids to choose from. Our favourite trick is to stop at the PA welcome center and get a coupon book for hotels/motels, and you can get a beautiful room with a free breakfast and indoor pool during the week for $89 (I think $99 for weekends). Love the Wingate by Wyndham, and the Courtyard by Marriott is nice as well. Tons of restaurants along Peach St., and all the shopping you can handle - Millcreek Mall is the best, lots of shops, plus Walmart, Target, Marshalls, and so on. Nice little get away - cheap gas, no taxes on clothes and shoes. I find the outlet malls to be way over priced now, and we get awesome deals at the mall.
Any questions, just ask!

Thanks for the info!
Now, I haven't heard about the Erie shopping. Kids clothing is the top priority... can I find Carter's, Osh Kosh, and other good kids clothing there? I know about the stores at the outlets but not in Erie. Is there a link anyone has? I guess I'll do some searching! :surfweb:
Thanks again!!!

Been to Grove City a few times, enjoy it, the Outlet Mall (not really a mall, its all outside) is quite large and spread out, a good day is necessary to shop. There are a few hotels there, right across the street. I like Erie too, actually if you have a couple days, head out early, stop in Erie on your way to Grove City, the Walmarts, Kmarts etc are all just off the highway, after shopping there head to Grove City and shop the next day there. Done that a couple times also.

I have a bus trip which goes to the outlet mall on Nov 28-30....we stop in Erie on the way there and hit Grove city on the Sat.....2 nigts and bus there and back very reasonable....great trip to do some x-mas shopping.

PM me if you are interested.....

we just got back last weekend from grove city the outlet shopping out there is huge there are alot of great buys if your looking for coach especially get ready to wait out side the store in line other then that it is pretty much a 1 full day to go through all the store we stayed at the best western across the street from the mall but everything is a 30 - 40 min drive away

Just my $0.02...... it's not really worth going to Grove City or Erie for that mater. There is nothing there that you can't get in Niagara Falls/Buffalo area. The only difference is the no tax on nessecities in PA. However, when you factor in the extra cost of gas to drive to Grove City it doesn't save you anything.

We always stop at Grove City on our way down to visit our family in VA. We have to drive past it anyway, and it makes a great place to stop. We always stay at the Hampton Inn just down the street from the outlets. At the Hampton Inn, and probably the other hotels, too, they have a coupon book for extra discounts at the outlets. Just ask at the front desk. You can also get a coupon book if you sign up at Customer Service in the food court of the outlet mall. They will also give you a list of discounts you can get with AAA/CAA. We just got all the coupons and discount information that we could and compared them to see what would give us the best deal on anything we wanted to buy and used the best one.

We really like the Martin & Osa outlet. It's the only Martin & Osa I've ever been to, and I really like it.
