Hi everyone - I know this is a long shot, but I am looking for a tape or CD which was sold by Discovery Toys (a home party type organization) probably about 21 years ago. I bought the lullaby tape for my son who will be 21 in January. I used it for him and his brother who is 5 years younger. It was "eaten" by the cassette player when my younger son was a few years old. I would love to replace the tape (or maybe it subsequently came on CD). I tried to buy it from Discovery Toys when it was damaged, but they no longer sold it. I have searched E-bay & haven't found it. I am wondering if any of you have any ideas. I don't remember the names of all the songs, but there were some lovely lullabies I had never heard before. Does anyone remember this tape or have any ideas? THANKS SO MUCH for anyone who can help me locate one !!

It is the one that has
"apple, apple, aah, aah, ahh"
"baby, baby, buh, buh, buh"

It has other "educational" songs that are meant to be lullabies and played at nap or evening time.

They now make it on CD and it is called Discovery Toys "Sounds Like Fun".

Dyawnie - No, I never found it yet. The one another poster mentioned does not appear to be the one I am thinking of. I do not recall the song described and there were no "educational" songs. I wish I could just remember the names of some of the songs, maybe I could at least find them somehow........

I was hoping someone who was (or is) a consultant for Discovery Toys might be a DISer and be able to help out.

Oh my goodness! I have that tape. It was a favorite at our home and yes I sold those wonderful toys years ago!

I will look for it and list the songs for you. It seems years ago we found many of them on Napster.

Okay I have it in my hand....are you jealous...LOL!:rotfl:

Side one is instrumental and vocal: (Side two is only instrumentals)
Close Your Eyes - Words and Music by James Taylor
Golden Slumbers
Rock-a-Bye-Baby
Wynken, Blynken and Nod -Words by Eugene Field:music by Buffy Sainte-Marie
All the Pretty Little Horses
Hush Little Baby
Goodnight, My Someone words and music by Meredith Willson from " The Music Man"
Twinkle, Twinkle - music by Mozart Lyrics by Jane Taylor
Goodnight - words and music by John Lennon and Paul McCartney
Lullaby and Goodnight - music by Brahams

Vocals: Joanie Bartels 1985

I am not very computer literate so I am not sure how I can get the music itself to you. My copy is a tape so I guess I could copy the tape and mail that to you?

Let me know!:dance3:

OMGoodness! I had that tape, too! I'm not sure where is it now, but I remember playing it for my DD when she was an infant. She'll be 18 in May! I loved that tape, too. It had such gentle melodies and was so calming. Now I'm going to want to find it!

:goodvibes The same songs but the cover for the CD is different than what was on the tapes.

Volume two sounds good too. We never had that one.

Thank you to those that have written, but those are not the ones!!!!!
I remember one of them had the words, Go to sleep, my little one......

I had that tape for my daughter but forgot where it came from! I wanted to buy one for my Granddaughter. So is the Sounds like fun one that same one? I so want to get that!

I know the one I listed above is the original one that Discovery Toys sold in the 1980's. I know this two ways, one I sold them and two I have the tape in my present possession. It is not listed as Volume One on my copy.

It is what was called Volume 1 when it was put into a CD mode in the 1990's.

There is a Volume Two but I have never listened to it so I don't know if those words are in it or not.

Thanks for posting the James Taylor link. I just love the way that man sings!

Hi everyone & thanks for taking the time to reply.

Twende - I don't think the one you have is the same one I had. I don't recall some of the songs you listed as being on the tape. Perhaps there was more than one lullaby tape in the 80's from Discovery Toys??

jwann - that's not it either, sorry....

Dyawnie - seems like perhaps we are recalling the same tape & looks like we are not going to be replacing it....

The one on Amazon someone listed is definitely not it, but thanks for taking the time to try and help locate it !!

I too was looking for that tape. My kids are 23 and 19 and I remember having it when they were small. I want it for my grand-kids who are 2 yrs old now. I remember a song that some of the words were "and the baby went whah, whah, whah" or something like that. I remember it being my kids favorite song. We had it on cassette and played that song over and over and over when in the car. Does anyone know where I can get that tape today in cassette, or CD?

sdt--I think you are thinking about songs from Joe Scruggs. Discovery Toys sold his music at one time; at least they did 5-8 years ago when I was a consultant. My son loved his Joe Scruggs CDs! :thumbsup2 I'm familiar with the Sounds Like Fun CD too, but not sure about something from 20 years ago. OP--have you tried calling the DT home office in California?

I can't help you on the Discovery Toys one, but this is our very favorite

http://www.lullabyes.com/CDs.htm

It's the first one (A Child's Gift of Lullabyes) the one with the purple cover. We listened to that one for hours and hours when our daughter was small. Now we have another one and will start that tradition again after Thanksgiving (when our oldest gets a new stereo for her BD and her old one can be passed down).

Enjoy!

I just wanted to thank everyone on here for all of your help!
I am 20 years old and used to listen to Lullaby Magic (the original) and the Lullaby tape from the last post (with the purple cover) turned into my replacement when my Lullaby Magic tape tragically went missing! I stopped listening to it when I was around 8 years old, but as I put on a "chill playlist" on my iTunes tonight, I remembered how much I used to love that tape!
I randomly google searched to see if I could find it and I didn't even know the name or the artist's information, but thanks to all of you I have sent the Amazon.com link to my parents who will think it is hilarious and will probably have it in my Christmas stocking this year!
Yes, I realize I am wayyy too old for a lullaby, but this is definitely a lasting childhood memory.
Thank you again! :)

I'm so glad that my post brought back fun memories for you. Our oldest DD listened to that every night (she's 13 now). This year we got her a new stereo so her old one will be handed down to our 2 yo who will finally be able to listen to "The Ladies" as we call it.
