My heart goes out to those people affected by the tornadoes in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. So much damage was done to homes and communities! I thought I would start this thread for us to band together and offer encouragement...

Luckily here north of Atlanta were spared the worst. They reported last night that it was the worst tornados ever reported in the state of GA.

The damage in our state is massive. We were spared the worst of it, but everyone I talked to at work today has a friend or relative that has lost home, property, or a loved one. West central Alabama looks like the gulf coast did after Katrina. Empty slabs and devestation everywhere. Downtown Tusacloosa looks like it was run through a wood chipper.

I'm in MS. Our youth minister got a call a couple of hours before church last night that his parents' home and business were destroyed. Fortunately, his parents are okay. The school was hit as well, but fortunately, they had released school early (just barely early enough).

I wasn't sure where I would find a post on this.. I too wanted to express my thought to everyone who was in the path of those horrific storms. My prayers and thoughts go out to each and everyone who had to go thru this. :grouphug:

Thank you so much for your thoughts. We live about 20 minutes south of a small town here in north Georgia and I just returned seeing some of the damage of a F4 tornado. Never in my life have I seen anything like it. We are blessed as we have no damage in my area. But please remember to continue to pray for all those in the southeast who were not as blessed.

:grouphug: I can't even imagine how devastating the storms must be and as a parent, my heart goes out to all the parents who have to comfort and reassure their children. I felt sick to my stomach this morning as I listened to the radio and heard of how many lives were lost and how much damage occured. :grouphug: All of our prayers and love are going out to all of you affected!

East Tn and SW Va hit hard in spots, Greene Co. Tn (Camp Creek area) and Glade Spring Va being the worst. 30 dead in tri-city area...power poles sliced in half, houses destroyed, some set off the foundation but fairly intact otherwise, a truck stop was hit in Glade Springs and it looked like all the big trucks were on their sides....so tragic, my prayers for all the victims and families

I'm on board and I'd like to add Arkansas and Missouri. They have been having a tough time too.

It's all so sad. :(

I'm in Northeast Mississippi - about 45 miles from Smithville, which was completely wiped out. Spent all day Wednesday in the storm shelter, but thank God we were spared here. The destruction is surreal. Everybody knows somebody that has suffered loss. Please continue to pray.

There is a facebook page that someone has started where people are finding pictures and documents and trying to match them up with their owners. It is unbelievable how far things traveled in the tornado.

I surely hope some stockpilers will find it in their heart to share their good fortunes with others. The girl who started Extreme Couponing - North MS in Tupelo, MS has immediate family members who lost everything.

Continue to pray and help where you can!

I live in a little town in flintstone ga on eagle landing drive Our st only has 38 houses and about half were demolished. I was in the cul de sac and was spared. Our house has very minor damage. Luckily we had no injuries we have no power but we do have phones. Gas and water. And are very grateful. I heard that we were hit by an Ef 3 about 20 miles from here in ringgold they were hit by an Ef 4 god is great

I got home from a Girl Scout trip yesterday with DD to our small town being hit. I had been able to reach my family and knew they were ok, but we knew several of the girls were coming home to no home:guilty:. We were able to keep the devastation from them until we got to town fortunately.

Unfortunately my cousins farm got hit pretty hard. They are ok. Many of the structures are gone. He just lost his dad unexpectedly to a heart attack 2 months ago and he is just reeling now.

Please keep up the prayers for Tuscaloosa, Al. One of the daycare workers that keep my grandsons, lost everything. I mean they have nothing left. They took shelter in a corner in their basement and the house caved in on the. My son and his family live south on hwy 69. Behind hillcrest high school. They watched the tornado form and the become the monster it was. These people need everthing. The damage is heart breaking in my beloved Tusacloosa

We just got power back. My DD20 was who goes to school at University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa was in the path of the tornado right before it got to her apt is turned and missed her apt and the nwent back to its normall path once it missed them. In my area the towns around us are gone, Dh works for the poer company and every night he shows me picture of unbelievable devestation, Please keep these people in your prayers so many people are still missing.

Add in Virginia as well. Two hit a few miles from me (in opposite directions). No life lost but some damage.

We are in AL and our neighbor town, Fultondale, got hit hard. Thanks for the prayers. Our church and many others are helping with food and other things, but there are more people with needs than there are people to help. Also, there are hundreds of people still missing.

i am in NE alabama, and while my little town was spared the worst of it, the next town over was not. it looks like someone dropped a bomb...there's nothing left. our church went over there today to take food to relief workers and residents who are sifting through the debris and searching for survivors and bodies. it's a nightmare. please pray for these people, and for the relief workers who are helping.

The tornado that hit Ringgold, GA went on to Apison, TN (suburb of Chattanooga). We spent today with about 40 from our church picking through debris to salvage things and cleaning insulation and debris from trees for a family we know. Their house is down to the subfloor--total loss. It is amazing things found intact such as Ball Jars of canned things and their high school rings, but at the same time, their mattresses are nowhere to be found.

The house next to them has not been touched--an older couple in hospital from injuries.
It looks like a war zone and is something I will never forget, but I am SOOO
thankful they are alive.

Pleases continue to keep Alabama in your prayers.....I live in North AL...4 miles from a community that was mostly wiped out...its like this in most every county in N. AL...the EF5 tornado that ripped thru multiply counties was on the ground for 183 miles...that doesn't include all the other EF4 tornados that also came through...it started around 3am and last until 8pm...centra AL was also hit really hard...counties hit look like a war zone...it can't be described...many have also lost jobs or have not been able to go back to work due to power suppply not being restored to the plants yet because the power plant was also hit. FEMA also has denied several families that have lots of damage and no insurance....so please continue to pray for our great state.
