OT -- Ontario Earthquake today at 1:50 pm?

Never felt it here in Southern Ontario but I was on a field trip with our whole school and the kids were pretty boisterous!

In Kitchener here and never felt it. All my neighbours did. My neighbour knocked on my door and asked me if I felt it and everyone else did.

I was in an office building in downtown Toronto and did not like it. I've been through plenty of earthquakes in B.C., but this was not a fun experience. The building swayed like I've never felt before.

DH was on the road and didn't feel a thing.

I'm east of Toronto (Clarington) and had no clue for a couple of hours what it was.

I never felt myself or the house moving... But I was in the hallway and suddenly heard the floor above me, in living room and computer room, creaking and groaning away. It scared me enough that I was ready to run outside when it stopped. I thought something was drastically wrong and our second-story floor was about to collapse!

I work in downtown Ottawa and I seriously thought the building was going to fall down around me. We were evacuated and then given 10min to go inside to get our belongings and our vehicle if it was parked onsite. Told to return tomorrow.

Lucky they let people go back in - I was across the river in Hull (on the 19th floor - scary!) and we were sent home. People had left purses, keys, etc inside and no one was allowed back in to the building. We could get into the parking garage "at your own risk"!

I was using the computer in our house which is in the renovated attic of our 2 1/2 story house. Thought I was seeing things when the monitor started shaking, lights swaying and then the cat woke up and started going beserk. I then went outside to see my neighbours and they never felt a thing. Most people here in Stratford I talked to last night never felt it.

It was centered about 50k from here in Ottawa. Many people were sent home ,creating a mess with the transit system and with many of the traffic lights not working ,only added to the frustration.
I could actually feel it moving from the front of the house moving towards the back;never felt one like that here before.

Felt it here in Port Dover :scared1:

The pictures on the wall of the cottage we are renting shook

I was sitting on a couch and thought my dog was scratching herself while leaning against the couch, then I realised that the shaking wasn't being caused by her as she was lying in a different spot! :confused3

It felt like it went on for more than a minute!

We like just outside of London, ON. I was not at home, but DD14 felt it at our house, she saw the TV shaking. I was on a school bus, class trip, in London and we didn't feel it. :confused3 probably cause of thr bumpy bus...

YUP!! I think it was stronger in Ottawa for sure!! I was working at the Salvation Army Church in downtown Ottawa when the quake started and I dove UNDER the table! Being in the basement, I was sure that 100 year old building was coming down ontop of me! It took awhile for my heart beat to return to normal after it was over!

Felt it here in Montreal.

I was sitting by our kitchen window and could here a squeaky sound from the window frame. Something like styrofoam being twisted. I asked my dd if she heard that and at that moment she felt the floor shaking.

Then it was over!

Our kittens slept right through it.

We felt it at school. We are about half hour south of Ottawa. I got the kids away from the windows right away but we did not leave the building. We thought at first it was a train derailing, but quickly realized it was an earthquake. My little kindergarten kids were did not really know what was going on. Afterwards we talked about what an earthquake is and how it happens. I had to reassure them that it is very rare for one that we can feel to happen.
