Hi all,
I would like to plan a trip for this Summer for my DH DD5 and DS3. We usually go to the Cape for a week with my family and I'd like to find another place for another week this Summer. I've looked at Smuggler's Notch in VT and Von Trapp Family Lodge. They both look good. Anyone been there? Also, I'm afraid we may miss being on the water. Anyone have have any suggestions for good family resorts on a lake like Winnepasawki in NH or a beach resort in Maine?
Thanks
SuzCT

I suggest Storyland in Glen, NH and Santa's Village a little further away. Your kids are the perfect age for these parks. Don't go to Whales Tale water park. THe water is really cold.

We have stayed at Gorge's Grant in Ogunquit, ME two summers and really liked it. It is on the main drag and you can take the trolley (or drive) to the beach. There are also resorts closer to the water, but we liked being a bit away but still close. Very nice are and lots of good lobster to eat! :)

Both storyland and Santa's village are one day visits each they are within driving distance from each other. I took my DS this summer to both. He loved the rides they are all for kids. None are really thrill rides. So if your kids love the big coasters at disney they will be very disappointed. :rotfl2: I stayed at The Storybrook inn. It was OK. It was in much better condition when I took my DD 10 years ago. It has and indoor and outdoor pool. We ate at the parks for lunch and ate at a very tasty steakhouse in the pm. It was very busy, locals and the food was very good, but expensive. I am sure someone from the area can help you a with nice place to stay.

Santa is at Santas village and the kids can go around getting a card stamped with each letter of the alphabet. I asked what this was for and was told this helps keep them moving from place to place. When U get all the stamps you go back to the original shop and they give you a prize, IE pencil stamper, magnet with Santas village. Just a small trinket, but my DS loved it.
