OT: New Wonderland Policy

Hopefully I have posted in the right forums:

We were thinking about buying the Wonderland season passes at the $59.99 special but are reconsidering because of the "silly" no outside food allowed in the park policy. We did not go at all last year because of our second child being born end of June, but have others had any experiences with this? Are they enforcing this rule? Are they looking through bags as you enter the parks and tossing outside food if you bring it in? This is of course a ploy to have us spend our dollars inside the park, but I find it a giant turn off and ridiculous!!!

We only went once last year.

They were enforcing the rule if you brought in any drinks except water (I think) You should have seen all the people standing there finishing up their morning Timmies!

As far as enforcing the food rule, it was kind of hit and miss. We didn't bring any in, but at lunch once family had a small cooler full. They said they told security they were just snacks for the kids, but they were making a meal out of what they brought.

I think they are just trying to get away from the years when people brought in wagons with coolers full of all kinds of food and basically picnicing inside the park.

We brought in sandwiches and snacks for the kids and they went through the bags and said nothing. We always do this and then for supper buy a large pizza on site. We also brought in water bottles but they were closed. You can't bring in open bottles or glass. So don't open your bottle waters and you can bring them in.

thanks for the replies. Friends of ours last year went and I guess were searched and weren't allowed to get into the park with food/drinks, etc. I actually emailed guest relations last night about this policy, so I'll see if they reply, lol.

when we go it is EARLYYYYY in the morning to get to the waterpark and use it before it gets downright packed. If it is a nice day there, it is a nightmare. If you try to go around noon time good luck parking, and get used to long lines to get in. Not fun

We went last summer and they took away glass bottles and cans. They let us keep the plastic bottles and snacks that we brought.

Just curious - I remember going a few years back with some friends, we packed a cooler, left it in the trunk of the car, came out for lunch, had a picnic and then went back in to Wonderland. Can you still do that?

Yes, you can take a cooler and leave it in your car for later.
We were there this past summer and were SO disappointed with it. It's really run down. The staff are either rude or couldn't be bothered to do their jobs.
They did search everyone's bag before entering. No cans, bottles etc. You could bring in unopened bottles of water. And snacks. They were throwing away sandwiches, fruit, etc. when I was there.
Be prepared to pay $3.00 for a bottle of water or pop.
The line ups are ridiculously long with no shade anywhere.
The food was over-priced and lousy (although the buffet was expensive but the food wasn't bad at all).
We went to Disneyworld three months later and what a culture shock that was!! THAT is how it's done
Honestly, I would just save my money. We'll never go to Wonderland again. It just wasn't worth the investment.

Agree 100%, won't be returning anytime soon!
