OT: New Disney Museum in San Francisco

Found this article on New York Times about a new Disney Museum started up by Walt's daughter...

It's interesting how she has to get permission from the Disney Corporation to create a museum about her own father.

Yeah that is funny that she has to get permission, but I am excited about it because it is close to ME! I have been following this for a while and wondering when it will be ready for me to visit. I am curious though if it will get that many visitors on a steady basis with it being in SF and not near one of the theme parks.

I've been following this too and I'm so glad it's finally going to open. I don't know a thing about California...will the museum be anywhere near Anaheim? If I ever make it to DL, I would want to go to the museum too.

I just ordered and watched a great DVD from Amazon called Walt Disney: The Man Behind the Myth and Diane Disney talks about the family museum. It's a fantastic DVD produced by his family. Lots of things I've never heard and some wonderful family home movies on it. Nice bonus features too. It is was only $10! SO worth it!

No, this museum would not be anywhere near Anaheim. San Francisco is a good 6-7 hours drive from L.A. But the Presidio is a beautiful location in SF with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Would love to visit.

The NAPA valley and San Francisco are a great place to take a trip. That is one of my favorite trips. The Presidio area is very nice.

Sometime last year the Oakland Museum of California had a special exhibit which was sort of a preview of this museum. It was really nice to see some of the art work and pictures of the early days.

Looking forward to visiting the museum when it opens.
