OT -- Need to find school clothes for a somewhat "chubby" 4 year old girl -- HELP!

I've been searching high and low for jeans to fit DD8, and found the perfect jeans at Old Navy this weekend. We tried on a size 14 (!) in Levis at a different store first, and they were big in the waist (but the 12 was too tight) and of course WAY long in the legs. Then we tried capris in a 14 regular at Old Navy and the waist was perfect but they were not quite long enough to be jeans, and too long to be capris. Finally we tried the 10 plus at Old Navy and they were perfect in the waist (actually a little big, but it's adjustible so it could be made perfect, yay!) *and* the length. I was surprised that the 10 plus waist was so close to the 14 regular waist, since I thought a 12 plus would be more likely. Anyway, the point of all this is, try on lots of different sizes in different brands, and if you're trying plus sizes, you might need to go down more than one size.

We love Hanna Andersson PlayDresses and Leggings or PlayDresses and Capris. They fit all body types -- and though they so go on height, we always go 1 size up:rotfl:.

And, on ebay, we search for Jumpers and my dd wears bike shorts underneath. I am not a fan of lycra or sweatspants on chubby little kids anymore than I am on chubby adults!:lmao: :lmao: Jumpers and dresses over shorts cover what needs to be camoflauged :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Yes, the clothing industry needs to understand that it isn't as simple as sizing up! It is a HORIZONTAL issue not a lateral one! And while they are at it,they should not neglect the right holes for sleeves either!!! Whose idea was it to ever wish to show a girl's figure anyway!? It's one thing if they are in dance or some sport but just everyday wear??? Really?!? Why?!?
My daughter will be 4 in July and has to wear "LONG" 7's or 8's,when just a WIDER 4 or 5 should do! It's ridiculous!!

Penny's and Kohl's would be where I would start at...

then go from there... Maybe Carters, or the Children's Place...

Hello!

I need help! My DD (4) needs school clothes. The problem is she is 4 years old but needs a 6X for her tummy. However, the length is way too long in 6X. Also, even some of the size 6 clothes don't fit because they are SKIN-TIGHT which apparently is the style right now. When I try to get a long-sleeve shirt the sleeves are way too long.

Anyway, enough of my sob story, does anyone have any stores they can recommend to me that cut their clothes a little larger? We've tried Meijer and Target. Tomorrow, we're heading out to the mall to do some shopping. Also, we are on a budget so I can't afford to spend a ton -- I still need to buy clothes for big brother too.

Do any of you have the same problem? Have you found any stores that work for your kids? Any suggestions you have would be appreciated.

Thanks so much!
I have had this problem for years unfortunately.. it does not get better sadly.
Old navy was the only place I found jeans.
As my son got older he could not stay in elastic band pants forever.

My nieces live in dresses during spring & summer - one piece of clothing and you're done! My sister has them wear bike shorts underneath though.
