Dh and I want to take a beach trip in June with our kiddos, and are looking for a good recommendation as far as accomodations. We are looking at VRBO.com as we are wanting to rent a condo for the room, but are not wanting to pay an arm and a leg to do so. :) Which do you prefer...

Navarre Beach or Perdido Key?
Why?
Where did you stay?
Nearby attractions?

Thanks so much! :goodvibes

I can't help with where to stay as I live in the area, however most accomodations in Navarre are reasonably priced. The area is very family friendly and the beaches are clean. However, if you looking for fun activities you might want to stay in Destin since there's more to do, but if you just want to hang out as a family navarre is great.

I live in Milton, Florida which is about 20 miles from Navarre Beach. I would say that it depends on what you are looking for. Perdido Key has changed alot in the last 20 years. It use to be a real laid back location. But now it is much more built up with condo's and the like. The good thing is that it is real close to Orange Beach which has become quite a tourist attraction. There is a shopping center (The Wharf) and an outlet mall (Tangers). There are theaters and restaurants galore.
Navarre it is still small and would be a good place to just get away from the hustle and bustle. It is close to Pensacola and Fort Walton Beach if you wanted to hit a local town. It is also close to Destin (about 30-40 miles). Which also has a couple of outlet mall type facilities and real nice restaurants. If I had to choose I would probably find a room at Orange Beach or at Okaloosa Island in Fort Walton Beach.

We go to Ft Walton Beach every year. The beaches are beautiful and the condo we stay at isthe cheapest around (Seacrest Condo's they are not brand new--not that old either; CLEAN and on the beach). We like Ft. Walton because it is close to Destin and it is a quiet family area. There are also new Resort Quest (Waterscape) condo's on the front of the strip on has a great water area for the kids and a lazy river --we can't wait to try this one.
Hope you have fun/ last time we went to Perdido the water is just not as pretty as the Navarre,Ft. Walton, Destin area.:beach:

Oh!! Attractions - Destin has a water park, small amusement park with small rides, games, go carts. The mall Destin Commons has a water area my little one loved and play area. Ft. Walton has a great fishing pier to walk. And the kiddies will probably love "Fudpuckers" it is a tourist resturant but the one in Destin has an alligator attraction, the one in Ft. Walton has a Little Tikes play area. Alot to do... we usually go to the mall, eat, in the afternoon after enough sun for the day.

Again, You will not believe how great the water (clear, blue) is here and a great place for families. We have been going since we got married every year since '86.

Thanks so much! I checked out the Sea Crest site and they look really nice. Just what we are looking for. We really want to stay on the beach and this looks great! I also see that you are from Louisiana....we are too! What part do you reside in??:goodvibes

We are in Ponchatoula. If you look at other condos beware of the additional cost. That is why we have become loyal to the seacrest; we will even stay at their sister complex the venus when they seacrest is booked (its alot older--but clean). As I said we go every year and love it.

Where are you located?

If you book through the Sea Crest give my name (I don't know if they give discounts for this but we plan to go for my BD in Aug -- worth a try). As I said we go every year and love it.

I have noticed that there are a lot of additional fess at some complexes. This one looks really good and I can't wait to show DH and get an opinion. Do you happen to have any recent pics of the unit that you last rented there? I always wonder how often they update the websites

Oh and we are located in Gonzales!:goodvibes

I'll look tomorrow for pictures... I know I don't have many I really don't take a lot of pictures inside. I take alot of beach pics, sorry.

[/IMG] sorry having a hard time
not sure how to clip from my pics

I'm sorry I just can't figure it out... I don't really have anything worth writing home about
I have one from the beach with SeaCrest in the background. The condo pics I have are pretty filled w/ the person of interest not much of the surroundings... Sorry if I figure it out I'll send them or if you are interested you can private message me with you email address and I can send it that way (I know how to do it that way--LOL).

We aren't that for from one another... small world.
