OT-My daughter's hair is butchered!

I'm so freaking angry. I took my daughter to get a haircut and bang trim yesterday and the lady totally screwed up her bangs. Some of the bangs are so much shorter than the other and it just looks awful. I complained after she was done but I didn't want the lady (who was completely rude and condescending) to cut all of her bangs as short as the shortest part. I'm totally a non-confrontational person and just wanted to get out of there I was so angry. I wanted to get her portraits done for Easter and now I don't know. Does anyone have any suggestions for masking ridiculous looking bangs on a two year old? She's great about wearing pigtails/ponytails but any type of clip that she can reach gets pulled out. Are there any other techniques that I don't know about?

Thank goodness we have two months til Disney and her hair will grow enough and we can get it fixed.

If you aren't opposed to putting "product" in your toddler's hair, you could put her bangs back for pictures. During DD's dance recitals, they aren't allowed to have bangs, so the mommies have to slick them back into the ponytails with gel/hairspray and bobby pins.

the easter hat is a good idea. maybe you could brush the bangs slightly to the sides (following the part line), so they're not hanging straight across the forehead and you wouldnt notice if a few pieces were not the same length. :confused3 not sure the thickness, etc of her hair if this would work or not. my oldest DD once cut a chunk out of her bangs at grandma's house. it was too short to cut them all that length. when her hair was down if we didnt brush the bangs straight down it wasnt noticible. that was also the point that i had decided to grow them out, so we just started using clips/headbands when she wore her hair up until they reached the hairties and would fit in with the rest. it didnt take to lon to grow out.

i'm sorry you have the stress of this.
my two little ones have never had a haircut. we're planning to take them when we go to disney, but i'm still a little nervous that something like this will happen.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think in my anger and frustration I completely forgot about the existence of hats and headbands. I cannot find a good place to get my daughter's hair cut here. Heck, I can't find a good place to get MY hair cut here. I'm really tempted to just let her bangs grow out completely (as awkward as that would look) to avoid having to find a new place every month or so.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

Twice my daughter took scissors to her bangs. Both times the hairdresser ended up giving my daughter more bangs to cover up the too short bangs. My daughter ended up having very thick bangs we did not like. So I asked her if she wanted to grow her bangs out and she said yes. That was over a year ago and her bangs are past her chin now.
She did go threw a very short period of the bangs being too long to leave down and too short to pull back. So I invested in cloth headbands and that is what she wore for a few months. It worked perfectly. She was 4 when we did this and was willing to leave things in her hair.
Is it possible to give your daughter more bangs for now? Then you can slowly grow sections of the bangs back so that in a few months, she will be back to the same width of bangs she did have?

My now 3 year old has never had bangs... she doesn't look awkward (or I have never thought) not having bangs. She doesn't even always wear her hair back... but since they are as long as her hair we can tuck them behind her ears if it's getting in her face. She will also let me put her hair up (pony, buns, clips...) so it's not in her face.

But we went through all the bad bang cuts with our oldest and just haven't gotten her bangs cut yet... she just looks sweet with no bangs!

Sorry you have to go through this with her... no fun!

So sorry this happened to you! This happened when my DD was 2 when I took her to Cookie Cutters. I am not saying all Cookie Cutters are bad, but this lady was! Ever since then she has gone to the Barber Shop with my DH and sons! There is a lady there, and she does a great job. I just refuse to pay salon prices for my 6 year old. Although we are now growing out her bangs....

I meant awkward in the growing out stage.

I just want to say this was us last year at this time with my son. We had a lady completely butcher his hair, right before Easter. I was so mad! He's got a big head, so he needs his hair! lol He sits fine for haircuts, this lady was just baaaaaddd. She even hit him with the clippers and left a clipper mark!

I now butcher his hair myself. I figure why pay someone $15, when I can do it just as bad! :rotfl:

Can you swoop her bangs to the side? Sometimes my daughters get crazy and just want to swoop to the side themselves, but it helps when they aren't perfectly straight.

If you trust yourself I would just say maybe you should trim her bangs next time. That's what I've always done (my DDs don't have bangs though, a few days ago I did my own because they were past my eyes ), but the average person isn't as comfortable with hair as I am, so I'm not sure but for you that may be a big "no".

I was going to suggest hairspray and a headband. If she won't wear a normal headband see if she'll at least wear a knit one.

Did you speak to the manager? If not, I would give it a shot. It won't change your daughter's hair, but if the woman did a terrible job, and was condescending and rude on top of that, the manager ought to be thankful to know about it.

Sorry you are unhappy with the haircut, but it will grow back. In the meantime, use it as a great excuse to buy some of those adorable headbands I see on eBay. I love the beaded ones, but don't know if that'd be such a great idea for a 2yo. You know, just in case they break. Good luck.
