OT: MommytoMJM daughter in hospital

MJ was admitted to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital in Orlando this evening after almost 2 days of vomiting. This was after her 3rd visit to the ER. Her blood 46 and they are trying to get it up. RIght now they are trying a formula with corn but don't know if she will tolerate it. Calling an endocrinologist in. They are deciding if she will be addmitted to a regular room or the special needs unit and step down from PICU

Bonny said she had a rough day yeasterday. Lots of itching in response to the dextrose which is made from corn which she is allergic to. Gave her Benedryl and then something for pain so she could finally get some rest. Were supposed to start her feedings last night but no word on how that went. Still trying to stabilize the blood sugar. Will update when I talk to Bonny this afternoon or evening.

I know the hospital has all kinds of things at their disposal, but I just wanted to say that my kids are allergic to corn, and with my son we supplemented with Horizon Organic Formula. I think they only sell it on the west coast, but I'm sure they would send some to a hospital. It didn't have dextrose, maltodextrin, etc. that most of the formula is full of.

I hope they can help them soon.

Talked to Bonny and MJ this afternoon. Mj was being bossy with Mom and I could hear her demanding to be in her wheelchair. Bonny said they were up to a rate of 100 and turning it up every 2 hours by 10. They may be able to go home tomorrow if she continues to tolerate the feeds. MJ talked to me briefly(normal with her) First thing she told me was "home" meaning she wants to go home. Told she needed to get better so she could go home. Bonny said she nodded yes to that. Then she told me "love you". She sounded very much herself. She got off and was demanding her video be started so Bonny and I hung up. If the go home Bonny will call me otherwise I will call them tmw.

I hope MJ gets to go home for the 4th of July and too see the special fireworks from behind the MK. I'm glad they found something she can tolerate!

Bonny and MJ are home now. She is still at a volume of 100 on her feeding tube and the additives need to be slowly added back. Her little foot is swollen where the IV infiltrated. But she's home. Bonny is exhausted from all this. I am sure they will be seeing Wishes for the 4th.
Seems that I need the pixie dust now. My arthritis and fibro are flaring big time. Took me 3 hours to get myself out of bed this morning the pain was so bad in my back and hips. Knees are pretty sore as well. Ouch. The rainy weather doesn't help at all but we need the rain so it is a catch 22.
