We found Dr. Brown's to be the best when DD was a baby. They helped reduce her gas problems which made her very happy. We tried a lot of different brands until then. HTH.
I thought you might be thinking of all the talk in the news regarding the cancer causing chemical that has yet to be banned from baby products including bottles. Here is some info that has been talked about among my moms group.
"The McGuinty Government is striking a panel to study and act on many of these unhealthy plastics- with a particular emphasis on how they are affecting babies and young children.
The U.S. based Environmental Working Group (http://www.ewg.org/) has an article about bisphenol A in formula packaging on the website. It is
titled: "EWG's guide to infant formula".
Just wanted to let you know that all the Medela bottles and their silicone nipples are bisphenol-A free and have been for a number of years. Avent and most other plastic bottles are not free of the bisphenol-A. Also included in bisphenol-A free category are the Medela freezer/feeding bags. I am not doing this to promote Medela but they have anticipated this problem early on. I hope that this will be a help at least for those who use bottles and nipples.
"TORONTO - There is a "compelling case" for Ontario to become the first province in Canada to ban a potentially harmful chemical found in common plastic baby products and linked to adulthood cancer, Premier Dalton McGuinty said Tuesday after meeting with experts and parents pushing for a ban of bisphenol A."
I think the brand of the other BPA free bottles is Born Free. Also any brand of glass bottle is safe (Born Free makes glass and plastic bottles). More and more retail outlets are providing this brand as public demand for BPA free products increases. The precautionary principle is warranted until all the evidence is available. Better safe than sorry."
My kids are a bit older now and all of this is fairly new. I used Avent for my youngest for a few months (8m-14m) and then he went to sippy cups. My eldest never used bottles.
We used Avent bottles for dd#1 (she wouldn't latch) ... also didn't know about this chemical issue at that point. If I'd known I wouldn't have used bottles with it, but doubtful at that point that there were any BPA free ones around.
For dd#2 ... she was a devoted nurser, so a bottle never touched her lips!!! When we tried all he-** broke loose!!! Feisty then ... even feistier today
