Okay, those who have DD that are into these types of dolls, here is the question. Being Canadian, do you stick with the Mapelea Girls or have you purchased the American Girl? I know that their clothing and accessories will all fit each other, but which way to go?

We went with Kyrito kids. They are better made then both of the compatition. They are for a good cause( girs get to choose where they want thier donations to go), each comes with a book. They also fit both of the competition's clothes and also have their own line. We have had ours for 2 years and she looks brand new still. The best part is that you can buy them at turtle pond:) http://karitokids.com/shopping/

I'm planning on a MapleLea doll for dd's birthday. I LOVE the idea of something Canadian, SOOOoooo tired of everything being American!

I think I'm going to go for Leonie, as dd is in French Immersion.:thumbsup2

We bought our girls Maplelea Dolls for Christmas 2 years ago! They are beautiful dolls that are modeled after REAL Canadian Girls!!! They come with journals which contain the dolls "story" and details about her life and family and about the region of Canada in which she lives! We have Brianne and Taryn!

We live just 6.5 hours away from an American Girl store and have visited there a couple times! The girls actually brought their dolls to the store on our trip last summer and Brianne and Taryn had their hair done!!! It was a thrilling experience for my girls - they (and their dolls) were treated like little princesses! :)

for my daughter it is all about the American Girls. We have been to the stores in Chicago and in LA and the quality of the dolls, imho, is second to none. The shopping experience is always amazing too!

we have 2 Maplelea dolls - Brianne and Jenna. My girls love them. Two of their friends got American Girls this past Christmas, and 2 other friends got Maplelea dolls.
I think quality is pretty much the same. My girls like the journals which are full of Canadian info - it teaches them a bit about Canada. Maplelea dolls are a bit bigger (not taller); their feet are longer and their bodies are a bit thicker. There is a picture comparing the two somewhere on the internet. I can't post any links here though.
Clothes can be interchangeable between the two, but not always shoes.
Can't go wrong either way probably. I do like the fact that they are Canadian though.

We have 4 american girl dolls, Kit, Rebecca, Julia and a just like me. My 6 year old loves them and plays with them everyday. We have been to the stores in Atlanta and NYC, which was a highlight. I personally like the look of the american girl dolls to the maplelea dolls, but just my opinion.
