Well, things today did not take a soaring swing up for the better when I woke up. No CL button, no real life friends on AIM, no VMK friends on AIM, and my pre-calculus homework still wasn't done. Seeing as working in a clean environment always makes my day a little better...I decided to come upstairs to my room, turned on my computer to play some music, and I started to play some music. I started with some rock music, all that fun Indie stuff that I love. Any how, I felt the urge to go over to Visions Fantastic to listen to some Disney stuff...
Well I started out by listening to the recordings of Believe, then went over to DCA to listen to the California Screamin' soundtrack, then the soaring melody of Soarin' Over California, off to a Holiday trip through the Haunted Mansion, and then took a spin with Roger Rabbit in his Car Toon Spin, and am now hurtling through 200 years of America Sings.
I think after of at least 2 days of VMK tragedy, my trust in the Disney magic began to falter. Honestly, for the first time since VMK's opening I began to doubt my interest in the game. But then...I turned on Believe and everything changed. I don't know what it was...but I suddenly felt refilled, and was excited once again. It may have been the "oohs" and "ahhs" of seeing the comet fireworks being shot upward during the "You'll be in my Heart" segment, it might have been the unrestrained joy of the roman candles in the "Merry Unbirthday" segment. But I felt like everything was great...I even felt excited to start school again!
Disney music has amazing powers, when attached to real life memories of joyous experiences in the parks they can have as big of emotional impact on you as Beethoven's 9th Symphony. The depth of the music, the amazing arrangements, the beautiful performances...that's what makes Disneyland special for me. And after this great clean up experience, I don't think I'll be forgetting that for a long time.
So..."past is just the start, tomorrow will bring songs to that come straight from the heart." I think I'm going to buy that Musical History of Disneyland set right now (see how they just tug at those purse strings...goodness Disney!!
